Characters:Cyberwarp, Wing Location: Saturn's Moon Prometheus Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Ever since that fateful day where she had met Wing, Cyberwarp's life had changed for the better. Now on their way to the Milky Way, what sorts of adventures will fall upon them as they search for a new place to call home?
If Cyberwarp had said that she wasn't having the time of her life right now, it would have been a flat out lie.
Things had been looking up ever since she had run into Wing, or rather.. he run into her. She never would have imagined being this happy with someone who was almost a stranger close by. They had helped the captives escape from the slavers, and had since gone on their merry way to the Milky Way to find peace away from the war.
However, finding a new 'home' so to speak was not quite as easy as anticipated once they had arrived. The Milky Way certainly had it's fair share of planets, only one being inhabited with life.. and as they arrived to the other planets it was no question as to why that was. The first had been a planet much too small. So small in fact that it could have easily been mistaken for a moon that had escaped orbit. Was it really just a tiny planet? Either way it had been much too small for the both of them.
Next came two larger planets.. only to be made entirely of gas. That would not have done well either.
Cyberwarp had wanted to stop for some rest before searching another planet, finding a small moon/asteroid rotating around the next large planet. It wasn't big at all, but it was a reasonable place to take a break. If nothing else, they could gaze at Saturn and it's beautiful rings of ice, dust, and rock.
"I didn't quite expect so many planets in this area to be nothing but gas. I hope they aren't all like this, Wing. Otherwise.. I may feel bad."
Wing was almost as pleased as Cyberwarp was to be out on their own. While he did love his brothers of the Circle in that way that they all did in friendship, he'd always felt like a bit of an outsider. He argued with Dai Atlas, frequently, which often led to some of the others working to calm them. The constant feeling of being...liked well enough and tolerated for the most part had begun to wear on him.
This change, traveling with someone who shared his ideals of peace and saw the necessity in securing it, was a dream come true. Despite this, he had sent a ping on a secure channel, just to assure his brethren he yet lived.
After their encounter with the slavers, Wing had sent his disguise into subspace, traveling with his frame fully exposed, the Great Sword on his back visible once again to identify him as a member of the Circle of Light. Special modifications had been made to allow it to be carried comfortably in alt mode and, as they were doing long distance travel, he was grateful.
Their journey into the Milky Way had produced an odd series of planets within one solar system. One was practically a barren rock floating in space. Suitable for a brief rest, but not much else. The others had been gaseous, without even a place to land. Fortunately, Cyberwarp had found them a rest spot on one of the small moons orbiting the ringed planet. He didn't know its name, but, it was a nice view at least. He was tired as well, the continued travel wearing on him even with his warrior's endurance.
He transformed and landed on the moon with a dull thud, crouching to ensure that he was fully gravitated. He then stood, twisting and stretching to relieve any stiffness from the continuous flying they had been doing lately.
When Cyberwarp spoke, Wing gave her a kind smile in response.
"Even if that is the case, it will be an interesting experience. I'd never been to a gas planet, after all," he looked in the direction they had been headed, optics narrowing as he scanned as far as he could, "We may be too far out for life to be sustained on any of these. If organic creatures are within this system, they will need the warmth of the system's sun to thrive. My guess is that, the closer we get to the sun, the more luck we may have finding somewhere...solid enough to settle a while."
Cyberwarp couldn't resist but watch as Wing stretched when he landed. There was something about it that just caught her attention, but she just couldn't pinpoint what it was. Watching the other mech fascinated her, but then again she had only ever been with the Galvatronus group. Wing was one of the first outside of her combiner group that she spent time with.
...He was her first true friend.
His smile alone was enough to coax one out of Cyberwarp. She looked to him as he spoke, nodding her helm. "Maybe, though I don't know if they're organic or mechanical or.. what to be honest. But you do have a point. It's far too cold out this way for most life outside our own to thrive. Even if they could, there's no way they could make a planet like this home."
Cyberwarp sighed, turning her attention back to the planet. "It's really a shame.. I don't know much about gas planets, but I don't think I've ever seen one so beautiful before. And that ring! I didn't even know planets could have those."
Wing was not oblivious to Cyberwarp's optics on him. He assumed that it was because, well, she was lost and he served as her guide. He felt a great amount of responsibility for her, having been the one to find her and ask her to follow him. She had agreed of her own volition, of course, but, still. It gave him a bit of trepidation that he would somehow fail her.
He moved to stand by her side, resolving that such a failure would not occur.
"Yes, it is beautiful," he replied, looking over the ringed planet as well, "To think that something like this exists in the emptiness of space..." his optics surveyed the view, his smile softening, "It's good to have someone here to see this with. My brothers are content to remain hidden away, but, they miss so much beauty in doing so..."
The plating around his optics tightened when he spoke of his brethren. He wished he could make them see...but, it was unlikely.
Cyberwarp honestly wasn't sure what she would've said if he had asked why she had been staring. Thankfully he didn't, but it was something she'd attempt to work at not doing. She really did trust him, and she didn't want to let him down by failing at becoming neutral. To stay with her, aside from being a friend, he was also a bit of a savior to the femme. She didn't know where she would have been if it had not been for Wing.
"I'm.. glad I could see it with you." Cyberwarp smiled sheepishly, staying close.
Wing had mentioned his brothers again, and she had rightfully assumed that he was talking about the Circle of Light. She hadn't really heard much about them as a whole, but primarily just how Wing felt in regards to him being an outcast of the group. In fact, they were almost legend to her and most others!
"If.. it's alright for me to ask, what's the Circle of Light like? I know they're not a part of the war, but.. I was wanting to know a bit more about them." She smiled in a gentle manner, not wanting the other to talk about it if it was only going to bring frustration with the group as a whole. Or maybe it wouldn't. She wouldn't know unless she asked.
Wing looked down at her, being slightly taller, and brought a servo to her shoulder. Her sheepish smile was returned with a genuine one.
"You may ask me anything you wish, Cyberwarp. Whether or not I can answer is another matter," he turned his optics back to the rings of the planet before them, expression growing contemplative, "I suppose I should start at the beginning...we departed Cybertron early in the war, not wishing to be caught up in the conflict. We fled to a distant world and built a home there, the new Crystal City...then we settled," he vented, "We take in those who are unfortunate, yes, who have remained neutral and wish to hide themselves from the war...but...it sits ill with me that we stop there. We are warriors, all of us, led by Dai Atlas, who is a legend unto himself..." he paused frowning.
Then, he shook himself and looked at her, smiling apologetically. He let his hand fall from her shoulder.
"My apologies. I did not mean to bring my personal opinions into answering your question..."
Cyberwarp had honestly been startled by the sudden touch to the shoulder, but relaxed almost instantaneously. It wasn't something she was quite used to, but she trusted Wing. He wasn't going to hurt her or anything.
It didn't take long for the mech's personal feelings to get mixed into his story about the Circle of Light, and to be fair it did get a small chuckle out of Cyberwarp. "That's alright. It can't be helped given how you feel about them, but.. I'm glad you told me regardless. I wish I could see it one day, but I perfectly understand why you don't want to bring me there." It was all because of how she'd likely be treated as an ex-Con.
She promptly placed a servo over her Decepticon insignia, frowning at the thought. "I suppose it's only fair that I tell you a little more about me in return. I'm capable of combining with my group; Right arm in case you were curious. Cyclonus was the leader of our group, and.. it was our mission to try and bring down the Autobots from the inside. That's what the Light Benders were for.. to disguise ourselves as Autobots, even stripping ourselves of our appearance for something more generic I suppose you could say. With everyone's efforts, we were capable of controlling the minds of others, and naturally.. I was appointed to be their new voice to follow. I only told them what Cyclonus wanted me to say, but.. eventually it reached a point where I couldn't do it anymore.. I felt horrible for the things we did, and even when I voiced those concerns.. they fell on deaf audials." With a sigh, she moved her servo from her chest to her other arm, gripping onto it.
"I'm sure that only makes me more suspicious now.. knowing that. I could hardly blame you if it diminishes your trust in me, but please just know I never want to do anything like that to anyone ever again. That's why I ran in the first place.."
Wing looked up at her as she chuckled, a bit surprised. He was used to receiving snappish remarks to curb his tongue, not words of understanding. He allowed his soft expression to return, golden optics glowing with appreciation at her returning offering of friendship.
He moved subtly closer as she spoke, silently granting what support he could through proximity. His gaze focused unerringly on her faceplates. She had his full attention. He was a good listener. At least, he tried to be. He was utterly still as he took in what she said, his expression falling into sympathetic sadness. When she finished, he gently reached out, taking her servo from where she gripped her arm and scooping up the other. His touch was cautious, as though he expected her to shy away.
"Cyberwarp, you forget that I have seen you act selflessly for the sake of others. You have followed a vigilante out into a backwater galaxy, simply to get away from the war. I believe you when you say that you no longer wish to harm others," he said gently, earnestly, "We've known each other a very short time, but, already, we've trusted each other with our lives. That kind of trust is not easily diminished."
He smiled, the expression lighting up his face. Unthinking, and caught up in his need to prove his sincerity, he lifted their hands between them, stepping even closer.
"This may sound contrived, but, I do believe that it was the will of Primus that we meet. I will do my utmost to ensure that following Cyclonus and your team becomes a distant memory. It may be difficult. As I understand it, combiner teams are not easily separated. But, if you wish to walk a different path, then I will do everything in my power to help you."
Wing paused, realizing then how close he was, and that he still held her servos. He stepped back again, but did not release her quite yet.
Cyberwarp blinked in surprise as her servo was suddenly pulled from her arm as Wing took her servos into his own. It had been exactly like the feeling she'd had before when he'd done something similar, only this time.. he wasn't just pressing her servos between his own.
He was plain holding them.
She gasped lightly as she looked in awe, staring as he spoke to her. The femme honestly did not know the words to describe how such a comforting feeling made her feel. It was almost as if her spark was whirling around in her spark chamber, but also pulsing harder than normal. There was warmth and happiness to it, and yet there was a feeling of nervousness as well.
"I'm.. glad that you think of me that way. I'm not sure I can say it was the will of Primus, but.. I won't stop you from feeling that way. I'm just so glad that it was you that I met, and not someone else. I honestly don't believe anyone else would have given me the same chance as you, and.. I don't know how I can ever repay you."
As Wing stepped back, she smiled, pulling her servos away as she took that step forward. Cyberwarp found herself wrapping her arms around him carefully, smiling nervously. "I have so much I want to thank you for."
Wing had gone to speak, to reassure her that she didn't need to feel as though she had to repay him. He let her pull away, believing that he may have overstepped his bounds. Then, she hugged him. He paused for a moment, golden optics widening in surprise, arms slightly extended as though he were unsure of what to do with them.
Hesitantly, not wanting to move too quickly and potentially ruin the moment of peace they were sharing, he returned her embrace. The Circle were all rather uptight, and hugs were uncommon there. He'd almost forgotten what an embrace felt like. It was...nice. The simple act of affection and gratitude made his spark hum pleasantly.
"You need not repay me. But, you are welcome to stay with me as long as you wish. I will do my best to protect you and ensure that you achieve the peace you desire, Cyberwarp."
He left his hold on her loose, giving her the option of staying or pulling away at her leisure.
Cyberwarp grew worried when Wing didn't immediately make a move. Had she done something wrong? She certainly had hoped not, but was glad nonetheless when the mech had eventually returned the embrace. She couldn't even remember the last time she'd hugged someone and was hugged back, so while the feeling was strange to her.. it felt lovely at the same time. Comforting.
It was something she could definitely get used to.
The femme gasped lightly at Wing's words, touched by his promise to protect her. It moved her just how much he cared and wanted to help her lead a more ideal lifestyle. She honestly felt that if she stuck with him then she could really escape from the war.. as well as the Decepticons. What did surprise her was that he didn't need anything in return for all the things he'd done thus far to help her. Surely there was something she could do to show her thanks, wasn't there?
"Thank you, Wing. I really do want to stay with you. I'm not really sure how to explain it, or why it feels that way, but.. when I'm with you it feels.. right?"
Cyberwarp's thin wings fluttered momentarily before she started to grow worried. Wing still hadn't let go, but was she making him feel uncomfortable? What if she was overstaying her welcome with this hug? Nervously she started to let go, optics moving back to Wing. A shy smile formed her lips as the wings fluttered once more.
Wing gave a warm smile, followed by a soft chuckle.
"I'm glad. I think we make a very good team."
He allowed her to pull back, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable. In all honestly, he didn't mind the hug in the least. He liked hugs quite a lot, and received far too few of them. But, this likely wasn't the time.
"Don't apologize," he said, shaking his head, "It has been far too long since either of us was given a proper embrace, I think."
He gave her one more smile. Then, sensing that it may be prudent to change the subject, he turned his face in the direction they were headed again. He honestly had no idea what they were running to. Hopefully, it was too far for the war to have touched, but, one never knew.
That made him think of his own home, war-torn as it was. How long had it been since he'd seen it?
"When this is all over, I would like to return to Cybertron," he said quietly, "And help rebuild. Even if it is never what it once was..." he trailed off, looking at her again, "Will you go back with me? When the time comes? I know it may not be for a long time, but, still..."
It honestly felt so wonderful to feel wanted. Sure the Galvatronus group had wanted her around, but that want was also to assist them in harming others. She just couldn't stay around that negativity anymore. She didn't want to hurt others, and to be honest.. they had taken things way too far.
Wing's words alone were able to help relax her, both in his feelings that they were a great team and that she didn't need to apologize for the hug. Cyberwarp smiled bashfully, a soft chuckle escaping from her. "I honestly don't remember the last time I had an embrace like that. Maybe a quick hug, but.."
Oh Primus she was just making it worse.
Thankfully the other mech had sensed that it was time to change the topic at hand, distracting them from the not-as-awkward-as-she'd-thought moment. Was he really inviting her to stay with him for an extended period of time? To return to Cybertron once the war was finished? Words failed her for a moment, trying to come up with an answer in her helm. "I.."
The femme hummed to herself in thought, blinking. "I'd love to. I don't know how long it will take for this war to end, or if it ever will.. but you've been so warm and inviting. You've been kinder to me than anyone else I know, and I'd love to return with you to help rebuild. Even if that day never comes, I'd happily stay with you wherever we go." If she didn't have Wing, she'd be completely alone. She didn't want to go back to that.
Wing smiled, a pleasant warmth enveloping his spark. He was glad to hear that. Glad that there was someone willing to stay by his side, even if the desired end didn't come about. This was what the Circle of Light was meant to be. This close camaraderie. He gave a warm chuckle.
"You are too good to me, Cyberwarp."
His wings shifted on his back as he tested their flight capability again. It had been a short rest, but, his optics had again be caught by the rings of the planet nearby.
"I think I would like to take a closer look at those rings. Then, perhaps, we can recharge here. It will not be the most comfortable, but, it should be safe."
He doubted there were any Cybertronians this far out and he hadn't picked up the signatures of any other creatures. They were alone for the moment.
