Characters: Bumblebee, Team Bee, open to Autobots/Allies Location: Scrapyard base, Crown City outskirts Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: With so many new Autobots showing up, Bee hasn't failed to notice that his own team may be fixing to grow. So, he's taking the liberty of seeing just who is on the roster.
It had not escaped Bumblebee's notice as of late. The Autobot forces were growing what felt like every day, faces new and old being drawn to Earth and joining their fight against the Decepticons. And with new faces meant there would be some shuffling of the teams, some at the Omega-1 base in Jasper and he had no doubts that some would be sent his way. Which meant it was only a matter of time that his once small team would be growing.
Truth be told, Bumblebee wasn't entirely sure if he was ready for his team to grow.
He had been a leader for a short time, and he was still trying to find his own bearings in this new role Optimus had assigned him. Sometimes, he even tried to emulate Optimus himself, trying to be just as inspiring as his mentor but sometimes he knew he tried too hard and other times just being himself tended to work out well enough. Yet, the doubt always lingered at the back of his processor, a little voice telling him he would never be the leader he wanted to be. And that doubt was even more prominent at the thought of his team expanding more than it already was.
'Primus help me.' He thought with a sigh, presently pacing within the main area of the scrapyard in front of the main control center of the Alchemor's bridge. His door wings gave subconscious twitches, reflecting his deep thoughts and concerns running through his processor as he scrolled up and down through a data pad in hand, face contorted into one of deep concentration. So many names, some he recognized and others he didn't. Of course, he had crossed off names he already recognized who were members of Team Bee already, ones he wasn't exactly concerned with...at the moment.
"This is going to be a long day." The yellow and black mech sighed, finally lowering the data pad in his hand, rubbing the bridge of his nose and closing his optics a moment to regain himself. He had to set aside his doubts and worries right now for the sake of his team and making sure whoever came around that day was more than able to fit in. Not that he had been really paying attention at the present of someone already being there.
Space bridging with Bee to Crown City to be non-partial judge? This was going to be good! He whistled along as he entered the junk yard with a bunch of boards numbering 1-10 in his arms. He had a t shirt on it that said “I’M JUDGING U” and a hat with the word “JUDGE” on it. Sure it was probably crazy and he was having a little too much fun here but why not? He wasn’t allowed on missions or anything, so as a human Autobot he had to do something to help out at least a little.
And have fun along the way.
He saw Bumblebee was nearby and lowered his sunglasses slightly. “So when are we expecting the “contestants”?” He asked nonchalantly. “I’m ready to get my judge on. I literally have my judging cap on!” He joked lightly.
They’re kids; you love kids, Chromia. Windblade was partially correct. She loved showing the young guns a thing or two from time to time. From what her Amica had described, the Bee Team was in dire need of some combat experience if they wanted to become a force to be truly reckoned with. If she could train Windblade of all people, she could train anyone.
Chromia enjoyed the green scenery more than the plains or the desert, so the drive over to this supposed meeting spot was a pleasant one. She was less enthused once she found out their tryouts were being held in a junkyard of all places. The Camien attributed it to the Autobot’s distinct lack of class, or simply the fact that they weren’t up to Torchbearer standards. Then again, junkyards were absolutely lovely places to have a good brawl between mechanical lifeforms. She’d definitely make a point to toss one of them into a scrap pile at some point, for dramatic effect.
The blue supercar pulled in through the yard gates, making note of how empty it seemed so far. Chromia’d hoped it would fill up a bit more, at least enough bots to get a good post-training brawl going. The team’s commanding officer looked… young; younger than she’d been when she took command of her own team. Looked like Windblade was right after all.
The Autobot transformed, feeling only slightly awkward about being the first to arrive. She quickly eyed the human sitting nearby, not having been in such close proximity to one before. “Who’s the squirt?” she asked Bumblebee.
The wait had been rather dull and in such a lengthy time for something so not actiony. The flier had decided to take a nap. Her visor had darkened to blot out any light and her respirator slowed down to help calm her body. She looked peaceful amongst the junk that oddly blends her in well.
It was until the sounds of a supercar that came rolling did she awake, coupled with a system that alerts her to newcomers. A groan came to her and soon the military green femme rose out from her crevice, stretching and gazing about.
She stopped moving when she spied a yellow, a blue and a small. At least her recharge cycle was timed nicely and she felt refreshed.
"Bumblebee and... Dylan?" She looked at the human down below, not expecting him to know of the scrapyard! Well this is interesting. Just as interesting as this blue femme who appeared. So she was the loud one?
Grimlock was excited that they were going to be doing auditions to get more ranks on the Bee Team. Meeting new people was always fun, especially if they were awesome~. Of course, having someone to spar with could be fun as well. There was no telling who was gonna be here today to try out for the team.
While in Dinobot form, the green mech wondered over with various 'props' in hand. The guys and gals showing the team their stuff needed to have dummies and stuff to attack right? He placed them down randomly, but then wondered over to where the others were. Aside from Bumblebee, the only one he knew here was Rotor, and even she he didn't know all that well.
He did have to wonder about the human friend and the pretty, blue lady bot.
...oh if only he knew~.
"All set, Bee! Even got somethin' for the guys trying out to attack! Ohh. I can't even contain how excited I am right now!" The Dinobot promptly wiggled, swinging his tail around in such excitement that he accidentally sent one of the practice dummies flying right out of the junkyard. "Uh... I meant to do that."
It was only Dylan's whistling that snapped Bumblebee from his stressed thoughts, raising an optic ridge at the human teenager. True, Bumblebee had agreed for Dylan to come along to be something akin to a judge he just wasn't expecting...all that. "Dylan, this is a little overboard don't you think? Not to mention I'll be getting the final say who joins the team or not." Bumblebee pointed out, although he figured there would be some exceptions, such as those above his own station saying otherwise.
Surely but gradually however, Bumblebee began to become aware more of his team was showing themselves and someone had also finally arrived. He turned his attention towards the blue super car, watching as Chromia entered the base. So far, she was the only newbie to show up. And from her description this appeared to be one of the newest femmes showing their face recently, someone Windblade her spoken in high regard over.
Before he could answer Chromia, Bumblebee was distracted by Rotor and Grimlock's own arrivals from elsewhere in the scrapyard, "Glad you two are..." And there went Grimlock's excitement, causing Bumblebee to facepalm. "Grimlock." He groaned slightly, in disbelief already impressions weren't exactly going well on their end. "It's not a big deal Grim, we'll retrieve it later," Bumblebee assured the green and black Dino, giving a half hearted smile before he finally looked back to Chromia, "The human here is Dylan, a human ally of ours from Jasper. He's a good friend, just here to help see how these tryouts go." The yellow and black mech answered at last, stepping forward and holding out a hand to Chromia in greeting.
"But, I'm glad you could make it. I'm Lieutenant Bumblebee, commander of this group." Bumblebee introduced himself, managing a more greeting and friendly expression, trying to keep his composure. "I'm assuming you're Windblade's friend? She did mention someone was coming by at some point." He inquired.
Well he was probably right, so he took his cap off and tossed it while taking his sunglasses off. He figured at the very least for Bee he’d at least take this semi seriously. Even if he was keeping rhe t-shirt, he didn’t take off his shirt in front of people. “Fine, I’ll put my serious cap on. But I’m keeping the t shirt. I like my t shirt!” He notes teasingly.
As the others arrived Dylan appraised them quietly. He was well past the point of being intimidated by new Autobots but he did keep his guard up just a little bit as Chromia arrived. Rotor not so much as he knew her. When Chromia asked who he was and Rotor seemed surprised by him he decided to hold up a hand and introduce himself properly.
“Yeah, I’m Dylan, Dylan Logan. I’m uh, technically the closest thing to a human Autobot we have. Seeing as I’m the foster kid of an Autobot and kind Ratchet’s little brother?” Yeah he probably sounded like he was trying to justify his being here but at the moment he kinda was. “It’s uh, nice to meet you. And nice to se you, Rotor.”
When Grimlock showed up his eyes bugged, and he changed his direction toward him. Holy crap! He was an actual T-Rex. This was awesome! And he thought a dragon was cool. This? This was next level! “Whoa! Dude, you’re even more awesome than Bee made you sound like!” He said excitedly. “So cool to meet you, by the way. Grimlock, right?”
Just like that, the junkyard finally got a bit more interesting. Seems Chromia had been the earliest only by a minuscule margin after all. She eyed the newcomers, both sizable green Autobots of some sort. She knew a bot that could transform into a helicopter the moment she saw one, but the other one was... different.
As Bumblebee extended his hand in greeting, Chromia had secretly hoped that Windblade had kept her involvement a surprise. It would've been nice to pop that little detail in the middle of a spar, but no matter. She enjoyed keeping expectations low for that special shock and awe factor.
"Chromia, a pleasure." She nodded, taking the mech's hand. "Not just that, I'm her best friend, and she's charged me with making sure your team gets the training it deserves..."
She was, amused to see the antics of Dylan still about. He did bring a bit of joy and bewilderment when he was around. That and lots of cursing. She simply shook her helm as she watched him ditch his items before she cracked a smile under her mask.
That visor snapped to the big green, t-rex that launched a punching bag clear of the scrapyard! Such sound made her spooked and react by stepping back and her blades on her hip shifted to cover her thigh in a half battle skirt. Yet when the danger was just an accident, her respirator slowed down as she calms herself.
"I think we should duck more often in the base than out in the field."
She does turn her attention to Chromia who introduced herself to Bee, good at least she knows her name. Though she felt a bit out of place when not introducing herself as well. She gestures a thumb to herself with squared shoulders, "Rotor is my name and I can easily provide you air support!"
Grimlock still felt bad about launching that poor training dummy right out of the junkyard, but thankfully the others didn't seem mad about it. With a sheepish chuckle, he looked to Rotor and Bumblebee. He was glad that they were understanding, though he couldn't quite read Bee's entire frustrations.
"I'll go get it when we're done, Bee. It's my fault anyway." He was attempting to be helpful and make up for his mistake. There had to be some sorta bonus points for that.
He turned his attention to the other femme in the area, the pretty blue one that he didn't know. Her name was Chromia, and she definitely was here to teach them. Teach them how to fight that is! The Dinobot gasped, his excitement quickly returning. "You're gonna teach us how to punch better?!" He did a couple of quick jabs, but he couldn't punch quite as well in his Dinobot form. That was reserved for his root mode~.
Though it wasn't just the green mech that was impressed, but the human kid Dylan seemed to be too! Grimlock didn't mind the fact that he was adopted by the Autobots, but was more than happy to show off for the little guy just for showing interest in him. "Bee told you about me?! I hope he told you all the good things, like how good of a puncher I am!"
"Her Amica, right, sorry about that." Bumblebee apologized, rubbing the back of his helm in embarrassment, "Its been a bit of a stressful morning." Well, least for him it had been. He was always so nervous to have new members coming to the Scrapyard, expecting remarks on their base, how unorganized they were, some form of comment that made him feel less than enthused. Their base may not be much, but he knew his team was equipped enough to handle their missions and problems.
Still he tried to push such worries aside. "We could certainly use the extra teachings I'll admit. My team is still sort of new, lots of trial-and-error but we've held our own so far." Bumblebee said with gratitude at the prospect of additional teachings, smiling towards Grimlock's and Dylan's excitement. "Also, that there is Grimlock. Don't be surprised if he starts asking you a lot of questions of how to improve his punching." He mused, though he listened to Dylan and Grimlock further before he chuckled, "Nothing but good things big guy." He assured the Dinobot.
But, he finally looked to the training dummies that had been set up, "Hopefully we don't have to worry about ducking away from flying dummies again today Rotor." He then looked back at Chromia, "Perhaps you can give us a demonstration what you can do Chromia. Field is open for your use."
Dylan bounced up and down on the balls of his feet.
Of course for the moment he was more focused on Grimlock - mostly as he was a dang T-Rex and he had a huge imaignation. So no doubt he was having a little bit of a nerdgasm at this. Much like he had at Skystalker given his status of being a dragon! “Oh yeah! He says you’re the greatest puncher there is!” He noted, a grin on his face. “You totally have to show me what you can do sometime! Maybe even show me a few things y’know? I bet I could learn a lot from you. I mean you’re huge and strong after all!” He added eagerly.
At the mention of Chromia mentioning showing them what she could do, Dylan was reminded of why he was here.
Straightening up a bit, he turned and then put his hands in his pockets. “Heck yeah! I’m ready to see some action,” he noted rather brightly - another big grin crossing his face. “I hear Windblade’s pretty awesome too. So if you’re her Amica I can’t wait to see what you do!” He explained, knowing a little on the subject from his time with the Autobots so far.
A servo rested on Chromia's hip as she took pause to acknowledge Grimlock and Dylan's little side conversation. Just as Bumblebee had turned the floor over to her a wonderful idea popped into her mind, smirking. "Greatest puncher there is, huh?" the blue Autobot asked, taking a few steps towards the center of the junkyard. She kicked the tips of her pedes against the gravel, judging its composition. Chromia didn't actually need that much preparation for her little party trick, but it made it look all the more convincing.
The human obviously had no idea what he was in for from the noises he was making. Reminded her of some overtly enthusiastic duel spectators back home on Caminus, always watching but never partaking. Either way, he was in for a real show.
Chromia pointed a finger straight at Grimlock, "Your pal just volunteered you for a little demonstration, big green. Hope you live up to the hype."
With that, she widened her stance, putting all her weight on her left leg, putting her dominant foot forward. Chromia outstretched an open hand towards Grimlock, palm facing the dinobot, offhand held in a fist at her side. "Because, I want you to punch me as hard as you can. See that rusted old truck behind me?" she asked, tilting her head to said truck directly opposite to herself. "I want you to try to put me through it, if you can. I won't move from this spot, and I won't punch you back."
Once her ultimatum was declared, Chromia canted her head towards the upbeat lady-copter standing off to he side, "Tell you what. Group rate. Both of you can try, one after the other or at the same time; doesn't make much difference to me."
Greatest puncher there is? Well she did see Grimlock launch a dummy clear out the base with just his tail. Now she wonders what will happen if he puts his mind to it, liiike oh say an actual punch. Now that thought got the blades on her hip fluttering in excitement. Now now Rotor, don't become a peacock... Those are the males that do that.
Now that visor turned back to Chromia, soon rolling her shoulder a bit. Surely a rusted truck behind her could be a good distance for Grimlock to... Together? Well that was exciting and soon she flicked her left wrist to extend a smaller tail rotor blade before attaching it to her right elbow. Once attached it spun and gave her arm a push forward. Soon deactivating the little trick of her own.
Seems she was preparing for her own hard hitter. A quick glance to Grimlock and soon she drew back, revving her little rotor elbow up. Did she watch Pacific Rim as of late? Hard to tell.
Now she began to wonder just what was Chromia's plan. What was her game? To see how strong they were or her armor? Still... She must impress! When Grim gave the go, her blades sped up and her "rocket punch" flew forward with Grim's attack.
