Characters: @fanzone, @open Location: Crown City Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Another day on the job, but it seems to be an oddly quiet one for Captain Fanzone. That is until he runs into something highly unusual for Crown City.
It was quiet, perhaps a bit too quiet, for Captain Fanzone's liking today.
Where were all the crazy nutjob yahoos today? It seemed like it was always something in Crown City when it came to crime, and people just kept getting weird and weirder to the point that it just seemed like the daily norm. First it was that Shakespearean wannabe, then it was the nutso who was crazy fast on his rollerblades, and then a kid playing princess on a freakin' unicorn doll?
Just what was next?
Fanzone had stopped at the local YooDoo Donuts place for breakfast, just getting himself a couple of regular donuts and a coffee. Since when had these weird donut things been all the rage? It wasn't just the typical glazed donuts and your long johns, but now there were all these weird shapes and flavors. Ones with cereal on them, ones with all these weird flavors, and ones that were shaped like people with a pretzel sticking through them that had jelly on the inside. Clever.. but no, but he had to admit whoever thought to put bacon on a donut was a genius.
Munching on his donuts, the Captain returned to his personal cruiser, a yellow Urbana with black racing stripes. Once he was in, he slapped his magnetic siren on top of the car and began to make his way down the streets of his city. He didn't know what the heck he'd encounter today, but all the crazies had better watch themselves.
He was back in Michigan, but, it actually wasn't that bad this time around. The city had much better roads.
Rodimus had activated his holoform for the trip to Crown City, the young man in his driver's seat still sporting his 80's look from his last visit to Earth. The window was rolled down, his arm hanging out, half finger gloves clearly in view. Pop music blared from his radio, the kind of beat that a bot could seriously get down to. He'd thought about sunglasses, he really had. But then he'd decided it would ruin his image. Besides, he was hot enough without that little accessory.
He pulled up at a four-way, stopping when the light changed to red. His altmode, a Lamborghini Centenario, was definitely one of the nicer cars in the crowd of vehicles. It was definitely the most ostentatious. The sleek frame painted bright red with yellow flames spanning the hood, the Autobot insignia slapped right in the middle of those flames. With his spoiler on the back, he looked like he might go racing off at any moment. But, he would be good. He was there to explore a bit before hitting up the other base, not cause trouble.
Captain Fanzone pulled up the stop light, right behind a rather sporty car. Lamborhgini's? Who the heck drove a car like that around here in Crown City? Sure there were some spiffy looking cars and such; the Captain would know especially given that he was driving one of his own. Either way.. it almost looked out of place at best.
Leaning to rest his arm against the door, Fanzone got a slight look at the driver. Deefinitely looked suspicious. If you had a car that fancy, why would you dress up like some hooligan? With windows rolled up, the Captain began to mutter to himself.
"Look at this yahoo.. You got a top of the line, fancy car only the people with top dollar can afford, and you gotta dress like some street punk? I didn't know any better, I'd say this is some stolen car or something. Gonna have to keep an eye on this punk." Sitting back up straight, Fanzone put both hands on the steering wheel. He drummed on the wheel using his left hand, impatiently waiting for that red light to change to green. Sorry, Rodimus.
You were gonna have to deal with the human authority for awhile.
Override had heard the stories many times.... although always from Hot Shot for some reason. He spoke of Rodimus in only the highest regard, though the lad seemed to be impressed with anything fast or flashy. Just like Override. She hadn't thought much of it on her trip back to Crown City, but it slowly grew on her nonetheless. She had to meet the legend, if the legends were true. There had been few bots on Earth who could even come close to matching Override in terms of speed and skill, and Hot Shot had unintentionally volunteered another challenger.
What she was planning to do however was extremely illegal and also dangerous, but nothing of that sort had ever stopped her before. Override had spent her free time mapping out routes all over the city ever since she'd arrived, places with the least human traffic possible, or better yet sections of the city still under construction. While doing all of that however, she'd also been diligently looking for a car that matched Hot Shot's description.
The Autobot symbol plastered on the hood was perhaps the greatest giveaway, although even without it Override would've guessed such a finely tuned machine to be Rodimus. The sleek red racing machine that was Override's GT40 pulled up behind the yellow and black car pulled up right behind Rodimus, since she was practically incapable of pulling up next to him due to the adjacent lane being full. Still, her engine loudly revved up in the meantime, proudly declaring her presence. Her holomatter avatar was also on display for the moment, a woman clad in a black leather jacket, sunglasses and short black hair. Like her projector, the avatar had a smile on her face.
Rodimus paid no mind to the human behind him. Impatient humans were as common at stoplights as Turbofoxes were back home. What did catch his attention was the car that pulled up behind the man. He made a show of reaching out and adjusting his driver side mirror to better 'see' who it was who'd made their presence known. He did, of course, pick up the Autobot signature. And, if he was honest, only an Autobot would have an alt. that nice.
A returning smile spread over his face. Oh. He knew a challenge when he saw one. Practically every Cybertronian knew when the gauntlet was being thrown. It was a tradition as old as transforming itself. Who was faster?
He raised one hand in a lazy wave as the light changed and he pulled away, simultaneously opening his comms. ::Hey, there. Name's Rodimus. You looking to race? My wheels could use a good spin.::
Might as well be courteous with his challenger. This was for fun, after all.
Another out of place car. The two people in the sporty cars definitely looked like they were part of the same sort of crowd or whatever, but Fanzone didn't know what that might've been. Just more punks in his eyes, and he was getting frustrated with how long this light was taking.
The man began to reach for a small box on the passenger seat, pulling out a jelly donut. May as well have a bite to eat while waiting. Fanzone kept glancing over at the two cars as he ate his food, keeping an eye on them just in case they both tried to pull something. Maybe they wouldn't, and honestly he hoped that would be the case. In the process of eating his donut, he managed to get some of the jelly on his fingers, smearing it onto the steering wheel without notice. After all he had other things on his mind.
And just like that the light changed. Fanzone put his foot back on the pedal and began to cross the intersection.
