Characters:Nightshade Location: Autobot base Medical bay. Content Warnings: n/a Plot Summary: The Newest Femme Sparkling, meets the Sparkling of her name giver.
Volt had chosen to go exploring again, only this time, she had a destination in mind. During her explorations, where she has gotten the chance to meet a great many people. But now he wanted to get the chance to meet one person she so far had been unable to do so. Ratchet, the Autobot who had found her, and took care of her had a sparkling of his very own. Unfortunately, due to her wish of exploring her new home, she hadn’t had a chance to meet Nightshade
Little Voltwave has decided she was going to correct that, and meet her. This was because she actually wanted to be Nightshade’s friend, and she knew f Solaris was her friend then she must be nice because Solaris was nice. As the tiny femme toddled back to the medical bay, where she sometimes slept, she felt a growing excitement growing within her.
She was going to do it! She was going to meet Nightshade, and make a friend out of her! She knew this to be true. A big smile formed on her lips as she approached the doors which opened to expel a no longer injured Autobot. She scurried in before it could close on her.
The little one glanced around, and began her search, choosing the main medical area first, before the office.
And in the medical bay Nightshade was. She had been sleeping away in her playpen that Ratchet made for her so he could keep an optic on her in the medical bay. Sure it wasn't as efficient as the one in the main room of the base, but sometimes it could be crowded.. or someone would be busy and sparkling sitting wasn't an option. Nightshade had primarily been well behaved, and knew she was supposed to stay in the pen when Papa was working. She had enough toys to keep her occupied, and the cushions and blankets piled up served as a makeshift berth when she wanted to take a nap.
The little femme had been snuggled up in the blankets and pillows when Voltwave came into the room, blissfully resting while Ratchet worked in his own makeshift office connected to the medical bay. The door had been left open, that way he could still keep an optic on the sparkling without having to wake her back up just to move her to the next room over.
As Voltwave moved around, the sound of her movement was enough to stir the sleeping sparkling. Cerulean optics came online, blinking a few times as Nightshade sat up, looking to the other sparkling.
As the little Sparkling looked around, she spotted the makeshift playpen immediately. Having seen something like it before, she recognized it for what it truly was, and she knew that there was a high chance that the sparkling she sought was contained within. Her higher level of goodness didn’t want to get Nightshade into trouble, so she planned on staying there if Nightshade wanted to.
As she stepped forward, she spotted the other Sparkling and nodded her head at the question. “Yup!” she said. She had a feeling that Babu was another name for Sparkling, though, in all honesty, she thought to say Babu was easier. Volt stepped up to the playpen’s edge and looked at the other Sparkling. “You ‘Shade?” she asked her before she remembered etiquette “I Volt-wave,” she said to her, before adding “you can call me Volt,” she said to her.
She glanced to the left and the right, hoping to find an opening she could use to go into the playpen. An idea popped into her head. She was certain that if they worked together they could lift up the barrier so that she could enter or Nightshade could escape from. She crouched down and looked at the playpen barrier. “You come out, or me can come in?’ she asked her. after all, it was always polite to ask if she was allowed in there.
Nightshade got out of her makeshift berth, getting onto her pedes. While she wasn't the most graceful at walking yet, she was able to do it a little bit at a time. She waddled over to the edge of the playpen, smiling brightly as she looked to the little femme who had come up to her.
"Nishay~." The older sparkling patted her own chassis, listening as the other one said her name. "Vol~!"
When asked if Nightshade wanted to come out or wanted Voltwave to come in, the sparkling attempted to lift the playpen up a bit so Voltwave could crawl under. She grunted, but couldn't lift it up very high or very long. This drew her sire's attention, Ratchet realizing what the trouble was. Nightshade watched as Ratchet put Voltwave into the playpen before stepping back into his office.
"Tankoo Papa~!" The azure and iris femme giggled, looking to her new friend. "We pway, Vol~?"
Volt watched her waddle towards her. Volt sometimes wasn’t the most graceful at walking either, but that didn’t stop her from feeling concerned that she might fall. She couldn’t hug or comfort her if she did, but fortunately, she needn’t worry because her new friend had made it to the edge and was smiling very brightly, which caused her to smile in return.
Nishay, that could be the part of her name that Solaris forgot. She didn’t know, but either way, she didn’t mind, she made a new friend and she was so happy. She smiled before moving over to try to help her, but she too couldn’t hold it up for long either, but neither of the Sparklings needed to worry because ratchet had his attention caught, and he came to save the day.
She felt herself being lifted and immediately she closed her optics since she couldn’t see how high she was going height couldn’t see her and cause her fear. When she felt her pedes on solid ground again, she opened her optics, and then smiled at ratchet “Tankooo!” she said before he returned to his office.
Volt soon turned to her new friend and smiled at her, before nodding her head. “Yeah!” she said in agreement, she definitely wanted to play. “she pointed to Nightshade “pick?” she asked her letting her chose what they would play since this was her place.
Yay! Voltwave had made it into the playpen, even if Papa had to help her. It was always so cool to fly like that, and Nightshade hoped that Voltwave had enjoyed it too. Sometimes she wondered what it was like for Uncle Jetfire and Grandpa Pharma to be able to actually fly, but maybe she could ride with them one day.. or on Daddy's ship!
"Hmmm~.."
The femme hummed to herself as she thought of what they could do together. There were so many fun games that they could play like hide and go seek, or patty cake, or coloring.
..Coloring! "Wan colah~?" Nightshade waddled quickly over to where some art supplies had been placed, mostly just large sheets of paper and some big crayon-like coloring implements. There had been some pictures that Nightshade had drawn before, but most had primarily been scribbles or stick figures. She'd only recently figured out how to make her own style using the stick figures, trying to draw various bots around the base. She raised one, showing it to Voltwave.
Volt knew that flying was a thing people could do. She knew that they weren’t afraid of flying like she was. The little Sparkling was terrified of heights. Someday she hoped to get over her fear, but for now, that wouldn’t be at the moment. Now that she was on the other side of the barrier, she had much more important things to do. These important things were mostly to keep Nightshade Company and do things she loved.
She smiled at the question, and her head nodded “yeah!” she said, soon finding herself following the other Sparkling. She realized she hadn’t really colored anything before, even so, she thought it might be fun. Nightshade soon showed her a picture she had created, and she learned that it was supposed to be her daddy. Volt hadn’t seen much art before, so she didn’t know what to compare it to, so she thought it looked good. “Cool!” she said, smiling happily.
She thought her new friend’s style was neat, and it seemed easiest for her to try out as well.
Nightshade squealed with happiness as Voltwave agreed to color with her, working hard on her artistic vision of her daddy. She'd put a lot of hard work on it, and if she was lucky maybe one of them would hang it up in the medical bay or the Jackhammer~. The thought alone made the sparkling so very happy.
Even Voltwave liked it!
Singing to herself a bit, the azure and lilac femme took a few more colors and began to make little lines jutting out in various directions, all close to one another. She kicked her pedes a little as she continued to color, holding the picture back up for her new friend. "Boom boom~." Nightshade giggled a bit, pointing to the explosion effects she'd added to picture of Wheeljack. Once she was satisfied, she put the picture down and handed the coloring tools to her friend.
Voltwave smiled at Nightshade when she saw how happy she was, that Volt had agreed to color with her. She felt happy that it made another happy, and so she watched as her new friend worked on her drawing. The Sparkling was impressed with her talent, and she tried to think of a way somehow to tell her she was doing good, after all, encouragement was important too, and it would be something a friend did.
Volt nodded her head as she saw the explosion effects around her picture of Wheeljack. ‘Boom boom help friends make meanies go away!” she stated to her friend, as she tried to explain what she had heard. When Nightshade had given her the coloring tools and said it was her turn. She smiled at her “yay!” she said happily and she began to work on her own art. She worked on Nightshade and Voltwave holding hands.
“Nishay we friend forever, promise! if you scared me make sure you ok no matter what” she told her.
It was true! The boom booms really did make the meanies go away. The sound alone would startle them, and she knew better than to touch the ones her Daddy would make. Those were bad! Nightshade had to admit she was a little curious though. What would the booms look like? Just how loud were they?
But she'd be good~.
The sparkling watched as her new friend began to draw, recognizing the figures as Voltwave worked on them. It was the two of them! So cute~. She smiled happily, squealing a bit in excitement. She'd made such a good friend and was happy to have more sparkling friends around the base. Gave her more people to talk to and to play with just like this.
"You good frien~. I protec!" Nightshade giggled a bit, hugging Voltwave happily.
Voltwave didn’t know how a boom sounded or how loud they were, but there was one sound she was familiar with, and it was one, she hoped Nightshade would never ever have to experience. She heard a sound coming from her friend that she recognized or what it was, a squeal of excitement. She looked over and smiled at her. She was as happy as Nightshade was. She made a friend, a friend her age and size, someone she could play with.
When she heard that she was a good friend and that she will protect her, her smile widened much more so than before. The Sparkling hugged her back happily. “You good friend too, and I promise, I protect you too! and I make sure you ok if you sad,” she told her and nodded as if it settled the matter. “Like picture?’ she asked, indicating the drawing she had made. She hoped she liked it since she had intended to create it for her new friend. She knew she could get more paper and tools to color things later if she wanted to.
Nightshade hoped she'd never have to experience 'sad' anytime soon. She knew it was a powerful and negative feeling, and it was a feeling she remembered even when she was just a newspark. Maybe not the complete details outside of 'something happened to sire', but how strong Wheeljack's feelings were at that time were enough to leave that impression on her.
It was scary thinking about it, but at least Voltwave would do her best to keep the other sparkling happy.
"I like~!" The azure and lilac femme was overjoyed by the cuteness of her new friend's drawing, squealing a bit more as she looked to it. It's something she'd treasure, but she'd only keep it if Voltwave insisted on it. Most certainly fridge-worthy material... whatever that meant.
"Oooh! Ooh!" Nightshade bounced a bit excitedly, a thought coming to her mind as she ended the hug and crawled over to a set of blocks not too far away. "New game~? I use to make tower an' make it fall down~."
The mere moment that her audio receptors heard Nightshade say that she liked the picture that she had drawn, Voltwave had soon begun to feel a profound sense of happiness and pleasure. She felt pleased that her friend liked the picture, and she was willing to let her have it if she wanted to. They did sleep in the same place pretty much so it was alright with her. She gently pushed the drawing over to her friend, with a big happy smile on her faceplate. “Here ya go,” She told her smiling as she did so, pleased with her sharing ability that she was displaying to her friend. Nightshade seemed to get an idea, which made her end the hug that she was doing and Volt followed her to see what she was planning. The prospect of a new game interested her a great deal.
She sat as she watched and listened to Nightshade, crawl to the blocks she had spotted. A smile formed on her lips “yeah that sounds fun!” she said and carefully moved over towards her before she picked up a block, and placed it where Nightshade said it should be placed before she copied and soon she began to create a tower slowly but surely.
Voltwave smiled as the tower was soon built, finding its appearance, as well as the block’s appearance fascinating. She noted how some blocks had pictures, like a boat and so on, while others had markings similar to those beside the doors. She had a feeling that these could be used to make markings as she’d seen.
Voltwave glanced towards her friend, to see how she was doing.
Nightshade giggled happily to herself as she made her way to the blocks, picking a few up to show her friend how to put the tower together. There wasn't any specific rhyme or reason to how it was structured, but just as long as it was as high as they could make it. Besides, it's not like the tower was going to stay up for long, and that was part of the game itself.
"This fun~." The little femme was all smiles at this point, happily stacking away and not even caring if they accidentally knocked it down and had to rebuild. She was having a great time with a new friend, and it was moments like these that she held dearly. Well, maybe not as much as time with Papa or Daddy, but it was a very close second.
Before long, Nightshade ran out of blocks and the tower had been set up. "'K, now we do like Papa." The sparkling reached over, picking up her toy wrench and tossed it at the tower, watching as all the blocks fell down. She laughed playfully, then crawled over to grab the blocks and toy wrench.
