Since it's unlikely that I'll make having two of my characters in the same thread a recurring event, I like the idea of doing an Allspark Almanac-esque guide to each character, written by another. This is also a super open thread, because I'm curious about y'all, too.
Override, by Clocker
"What else can I say about Override that hasn't already been said? Or, shouted at the Override 500... she didn't name that one, I swear. She's hardheaded, I'll give her that, but in my experience it only means she'll never give up on a friend, which I've yet to see her do. She cares about people too much, though, but that isn't always a bad thing. I saw the damage she took protecting her troops at the Battle of Delta; half the time I think nobody here knows how far she's willing to go to protect them. My worst fear, honestly, is seeing that drive go too far."
Warpath, by Chromia
"If there's ever been walking proof that this war is starting to get to everyone's heads just a little too much, Warpath's your guy. Never seen him going in or out of Omega-1 carrying less than his body weight of weapons and armor, which is saying something. He's not half-bad of a warrior either, Ironhide vouched for him on that. But, we both agree that his shoot-first-questions-never attitude is going to get the better of him some day. Until then, I'm happy to watch him go to town on the Decepticons."
Jetfire, by Red Alert
"I don't let my guard down often, or ever, really. For an ex-Decepticon, Jetfire is a rare exception. Doesn't stop me from recording his conversations; I'm still convinced that accent of his is an auditory virus. Besides all that, he's changed a lot of my opinions about him. Now, he might be one of Optimus's poster-boys, metaphorically, but there's still a bit of Con left in him. He doesn't care about killing, at all. Seen him mow down a battalion of Vehicons with nothing but his fists, hammer and denta. Yeah, his denta. He was missing an arm, too. So with about three recorders ready, I confronted him about it. Gave me an answer that broke my spark. I'm not about to let you people into my very private files, so you're better off asking him about it in person."
Chromia, by Warpath
"Where the hell did this femme come from, exactly? Camina-something I think. She showed up one day during the war, with a couple'a her little buddies from wherever her homeworld was and started kicking aft and taking names. I'd happily go talk Magnus's ear off about letting her join the Wreckers, but there's just... something about her. She busts up enough Decepticreeps to give Wheeljack a run for his money, but still. Always felt like she was fighting for somebody else 'sides Prime. Never trust a foreigner."
Victory Leo, by Jetfire
"I was part of the surgical team that took Ginrai in after his injuries, yes. It was Perceptor and I, mostly. There were more than a few mixed opinions about what he'd done as Chief Justice, but he'd always done right by me. He was more than willing to make up for his past misdeeds even if it killed him. I can respect that. Even knowing what he and the Senate and the Council had done, I wouldn't subject anybody willingly to the same weapon that did that to him. When we brought him in, Primus... he was melting into himself. He was melting, and his body had just been coerced into killing itself while his brain watched. I remember the look on Star Saber's face as we told him about Ginrai's condition; it was heartbreaking. But... I look back on that day, and then I look at what he is now. I'm not sure which was the worse fate."
Botanica, by Jetfire
"Now I'm fairly certain there aren't any functionalists in the future, but it sounds to me like one might've given Botanica her name. Because it fits perfectly. She can turn inorganic matter into living, photosynthesizing plants... I was speechless the first time she showed me, honestly. Oh, no and that's not even the best part; she's absolutely brilliant! I don't have a clue what goes on in that green dome of hers, but whatever it is, it's fast and efficient. She's proofread and corrected essentially most of my work towards Project Goliath, and I'm not sure whether or not to be embarrassed or impressed. I'm leaning towards impressed, though."
Red Alert, by Victory Leo
"He was convinced I was a Decepticon plant the first time I met him, as this. Wouldn't stop running background checks on me, asked the medical staff about just what happened behind the curtain. It was infuriating, so, I kicked a few trees over to relieve stress. It wasn't all about Red Alert, but I included him just to be sure. He's going to worry himself into a coma one of these days, either that or he'll meet his end the next time he tries to call me Ginrai again."
Spacewarp, by Steamhammer
"She is new to us, I know this much. I know she is not of this reality, too. But she knows war, and she knows sorrow. I have not pried into the history of her Cybertron as much as one would hope; if our home is dead, hers is dying. Still... she brings a fresh outlook to our struggle. Spacewarp hasn't burdened herself by frivolous displays of power or skill. She fights like a soldier with something to prove besides might. She has my respect."
Swindle, by Spacewarp
"I want this on record that I've never officially engaged in illegal black market trade before. That being said, I might've unofficially known a guy back home. Swindle reminds me of him quite a bit. He's slimy, sleezy, and I have a feeling he'd sell out his own motherboard if you jingled something large and shiny enough in front of him. I can't complain about that. The man knows quality weapons, alright. Never thought I'd get my hands on a Graviton Cannon in my lifetime; legally-procured, of course."
Steamhammer, by Swindle
"The big guy, eh? You know I have a dart board in my office covered in photos of prospective customers, right? Big Steamer's been sitting there for a long time. You'd think a Decepticon who can use the absolute heaviest of weapons would be all for using them, right? Wrong! Big boy hates weapons! Least your conventional weapons, or just whatever he's got on him. Legend says he butchered a thousand Autobots at Simanzi with nothing but a nailgun and his fists. A nailgun! Barbaric! Plus he's a combiner too, 'cept he didn't draw the short straw and end up being the boot."
Hypnos, by Playback
"Okay, okay. Can you please tell me she won't end up hearing these? Yeah? Alright, okay... good, good. Where do I start? I knew who she was before the war, might've held onto a few of her songs at one point or another. Fit looking bird, too. Absolutely lovely. Then, the big bad Functionalists up and behead her... still not sure why, and I value my own life too much to ask her what she did to piss 'em off. She gets a traffic light stitched on where her head used to be, I think. I think it used to be a traffic light. Not sure which traffic lights are blue, still. Anyway, she gets her power from stress, yeah? Stress-induced superpowers... if I was as lucky as her, I'd have superpowers too. See, she was awake while they operated on her, yeah. She'd been seeing a doctor about a rust infection just a few days prior, doc gave her a few capsules of medication to help out with it. Problem being, the drugs neutralized the anesthetics. She was awake while they pulled her head, arms and legs off. I know I should be right proper terrified of her, but come on. Can't help but feel for her, you know?"
"Now, when the war kicks off, she throws in with Megatron. Right away. She did some absolutely crazy things with the Autobots and her voice, back when she was still in full control. Megsy-boy sees this and orders Shockwave to put the clamps on her, so to speak. Shackles her with a whole bunch of mental inhibitors, ends up destroying her personality, which is a shame, since she was quite lovely before everything went down. The inhibitors stop her from using her voice on the Autobots eventually, so that's where I come in. Oh Primus... the conditioning. They played recordings of her voice for me, which are still completely effective by the way, for days on end. Went ahead and made me mostly immune to it, and gave me a confirmation phrase to say to her to get her to use her power. Now, I'm a disposable-class citizen, yeah? I've never even fired a weapon at an Autobot! And now I'm given control over this monster that can convince people to kill their friends and family!? IT'S MENTAL! And... and, do you wanna know what the worst part is? I'm not even the original Playback! She killed the original, and a couple of the ones they made after! See, it is a BIT time consuming to recondition another Decepticon to resist her, and she somehow managed to get the first me killed, so they backed my brain up in a computer! Every time she outsmarts her own programming, they wipe her short term memory and just pop another Playback in front of her!"
"I'm sorry, I'm rambling on again, aren't I. I know we're all technically just walking heaps of metal that can think, but we've all got emotions, wants and needs, right? Not her, no. It's a crude word to use, but she's not a person, not anymore. She's a machine."
