Player Alias: Jaxrond
Character Name: Starscream
Allegiance: Decepticons
Appearance Description:
Starscream is a mech who is a bit larger average. With the lean, compact form of an armored flier, he could strike an imposing figure if he so chose. Claws replace rounded digit tips. Crimson optics and red armor lend to his image. His faceplates are rather handsome by Cybertronian standards, but, it is unlikely that anyone pays much attention to that anymore, with his reputation being what it is.
Personality:
Eloquent - Patient - Perceptive - Cruel - Cunning - Backstabbing - Selfish - Charismatic - Deceptive - Ambitious - Arrogant - Intelligent
Starscream is arguably the bot who best embodies what is is to be a ‘Decepticon’ now. He is malicious and self-centered, constantly climbing over others to further himself. He has left a trail of victims in his wake, crawling over Cybertronians both dead and alive to reach where he is now. Starscream is also very skilled at being second in command, it’s the only reason Megatron has kept him around as long as he has. He may be the only one capable of truly leading the Decepticons should Megatron fall. At least, that’s what Starscream believes.
Despite all of his rather horrible personality traits, Starscream does have one major redeeming quality. For all his traitorous behaviour, he does have a sort of honor. If one bargains with him he will honor it (though he may exploit loopholes to make his end of the deal a little sweeter). If one requires his aid, he will provide it for the right price.
Starscream is also not without his own motives. Most believe that he is simply power hungry and wishes to usurp Megatron for the sake of self-gain. This is not true. Starscream perceives that Megatron has lost his way. Once, they fought for a Cybertron free of the senate, now what do they fight for? Starscream would see Megatron removed from power so that he would be able to return the Decepticons to Cybertron and begin rebuilding if at all possible. That is his ultimate goal.
Strengths:
Air Superiority- Starscream isn’t the Decepticon Air Commander for no reason. He is a very skilled flier, able to take to the air currents like few others can.
Second-in-Command- While Starscream is regarded as untrustworthy by his own faction, and has lost much respect over the years, he remains the best candidate for succession. Even on his own, he is strong, millennia of battle experience pairing with a genius mind to make him a fierce fighter. He would just much prefer to slip the proverbial knife between the ribs before a frontal confrontation.
Trine Brother- Starscream never stands alone, despite all his peacocking about. He is a member of a Trine, meaning that he has had two others at his back since they were first sparked as a three-bot team. Skywarp and Thundercracker are perhaps the only mechs that Starscream has ever been truly loyal to. They are the only ones he actually trusts and the only ones he would never betray.
Former Scientist- As a former scientist, Starscream has an incredibly technical mind. He was an inventor, testing the limits of aerospace technology and engineering. This means that he is capable of understanding a few topics on a more in-depth level than some might think.
Weaknesses:
Predictable- Starscream’s major flaw is that he has, over the millennia, become predictable. He attempts to betray Megatron, but, Megatron now expects to be betrayed. It puts a bit of a kink in the seeker’s plans.
Ground Fighting- While he isn’t necessarily bad a ground fighting, it definitely isn’t his strong suit. He is a flier, it’s in his very bearings, integrated into his spark. Grounding him would put him off balance psychologically and damage his fighting ability.
Arrogance- Starscream’s arrogance has come back to bite him more than once. He watches his back, but, there are some things that his pride overshadows. For instance, the thought that he is too valuable for Megatron to be rid of, even with his precious DJD about, is one that has taken root in Starscream’s processor.
Abilities:
Aerospace Capability- Starscream is capable of flying both within an atmosphere and without
Flight Combat- The Air Commander’s preferred method of combat
Bipedal Flight- Starscream is capable of flying without transforming, using the rocket thrusters in his pedes. This makes it difficult to keep him on the ground
Weaponry:
Sonic Burst- Starscream lives up to his name by issuing a short to mid range sonic burst that targets the audial systems and equilibrium of his opponent. While powerful in stunning, or even damaging a target, it has its drawbacks. This affects all beings within its range, making it difficult to use when allies are nearby. It also wrecks havoc on his vocal systems, which serve as the origin of the burst.
Null Rays- Mounted on each arm is a long range weapon designed to nullify armor and strike as a devastating electrical attack to the systems beneath. Only the strongest armor can stand against its effects. These are Starscream’s signature, preferred weapon and can be used in both bipedal and vehicle mode.
Blade- When in melee combat, Starscream uses a pair of energon swords, which are normally hidden in his wings.
Short Range Rockets- In vehicle mode only, starscream is capable of firing two short range rockets at a time. He can store eight, including the ones primed to fire immediately.
History:
Starscream was constructed cold with his Trinemates in Vos, designed to be an exploratory scientist. He took to his role quickly, his natural ambition serving to drive him toward greater heights of scientific achievement. At the same time, he felt stifled by the oppression of the senate. It is not a seeker’s nature to be held back in any way, and Starscream has never been an exception.
It was his brilliance both in the lab and in the air that drew the attention of the Decepticons early in their fight for freedom. He quickly climbed through the ranks, serving as one of the faces of the Decepticon cause as the climate shifted to war. Rather than a scientist, he took on a role as Air Commander, leading the Decepticon seekers and other aerial combatants against the Autobot forces.
Throughout the war, Starscream committed numerous travesties. The amount of energon, from both Decepticon and Autobot, on his servos is truly horrific. He became a creature without conscience, killing to advance his own goals. Then, Cybertron was destroyed, and the loss of his home shook Starscream to the core. Their planet was abandoned and Megatron turned his optics to other goals. It was at that point that Starscream lost all desire to continue following the other mech’s lead.
The war moved to Earth and Starscream began to stage his plan of glorious return to Cybertron. Megatron must fall and then he, Starscream, will lead the Decepticons back to their homeworld. The Autobots can rot alongside their precious organic pets.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
The hard roar of jet engines were a hard thing to miss as Starscream burst into the hangar of the Nemesis. He’d needed to stretch his wings, and the flight through the weightless vastness of space had done much to improve his mood. With the clicking and whirring of mechanics, he transformed in midair, pedes slamming into the metal below with a hard thud. Standing upright with the same proud bearing as always.
Wide wings shifted into place on his back, moving to test the weight of the air and the presence of those filling it. Narrow optics swept the hangar, the burning ring of his optical sensor shining beneath red lenses.Business as usual carried on and he, too, moved forward with his activities. Striding from the hangar, he entered deeper into the Nemesis, his path taking him toward the command center.
