Characters:Hypnos, Soundwave Location: High Grand, Montana Content Warnings: TBD Plot Summary: Wasting no more time, Megatron dispatches Soundwave and Hypnos to extract the location of the Autobot base straight from the source.
With Megatron's reputation for patience being what it was, it was a wonder why Hypnos and Soundwave hadn't been deployed sooner. The Autobots had one-upped the Decepticon leader too many times as of late, so now was the time for drastic measures. If he could not take the location of the Autobot base from the Autobots themselves, then Megatron would simply take the keys from their landlords, the Humans...
5:01 PM, High Grand, Montana
Having not initially responded to any requests made from the base itself, the suspiciously out of place Russian gunship was currently being escorted to High Grand by two F-22's. Hypnos's rotor blades were busy spinning up the anthem that would deliver the humans to eternity, but the best part was that they weren't even aware of it. "Think they'll search us? Pop open the side hatch? Gonna be real weird to explain why our cargo's just an ATV," Playback blathered. They both knew better though. Nothing peaceful was going to happen here today. The moment the humans got wise to the charade, the charade would be dropped.
The Raptors passed by overhead as the gunship finally landed on the nearest helipad. High Grand loomed over the scene ominously as the soldiers arrived, pointing weapons at the strange interloper. "Power down and disembark your crew now, or you will be fired upon!" One the men shouted over megaphone. To be fair, Hypnos did just that, somewhat. Shielding her power emissions to give the impression that she had powered down, Hypnos also popped open her side hatch. Several men approached the opening with weapons drawn, while one of them cautiously lifted it open.
The ATV greeted them.
"Hello!"
The four soldiers who'd gone to inspect the helicopter's cargo had been thrown back by Playback's bone-crunching sonic blasts. With the crescendo building, the rest of the soldiers opened fire, prompting Playback to transform and jump out, while Hypnos herself transformed to full height. The full auto popping against her frame did little other than to provide the drum beat for the score. Sliding her faceplate over her eye, Hypnos truly wished she had a face again, if only to smile gleefully. Her autocannons and missile pods going to work, Hypnos fired up her comms as she advanced toward the base.
Long outstretched wings sliced through the air, rippling effortlessly through the air currents. Silently it glided through the air space, piercing through the radar from above. It seeked out noise and this thing was something of a nightmare as it learned to deafen itself and keep a low profile even as sound waves were burst forth to collect information. From what they could tell, it was a weird small flock of birds. Nothing more.
A camera upon this stealth bird swiveled, focused on the three aerial units at play. Two escorts, one VIP, and zero knowledge of what is to come. The camera shifted to the landing platform and watched with a sense of eagerness.
Dots approached the hatch and suddenly they flew backwards. Small bright specks signaled ballistic's fire down below. To counter this, the camera turned and pointed to choice locations to cherry pick prime targets.
First target laser painted. Second target designated. Finally a third.
Once Hypnos commed in the beginning's, the first missile dropped quietly before jetting off in an excruciatingly fast hurry. Suddenly the fuel tanks not too far from Hypnos violently exploded, causing a nice shockwave. Then a second explosion as a nearby vehicle depot with a few tanks were shredded by a missile that broke apart for a bomblet run. The third and final explosion was to eliminate the surface to air missile launchers! Now armored ground and anti air units could barely stop these two fliers of mass chaos.
"Infiltration In Progress
Anti Armor And Anti Air Unit Effectiveness Drastically Reduced
Caution Is Still Recommended"
The Robotic voice coldly spoke through the comm link before it immediately cut off for the engines to burn. Now any radar listening will know that this was a jet and not birds. A moment or two later of sheer chaos on the ground. Heavy thuds slammed through the fires before a brisk walk with an exact destination for the gates was heard. The Chief Communications Officer had made ground.
This needed music. The staccato of gunfire was an intense, yet ultimately out of tune drumbeat for the symphony Hypnos was concocting. So, Hypnos began to play her own tune using the vocal components so thoughtfully provided by the interrogators on Cybertron. The troops fighting her were knowingly fighting a losing battle, and the destruction of the nearby vehicle bay and fuel tanks had not done much to bolster their confidence. Although it was possible for her to simply hypnotize the rest, that left the two of them too many loose ends for only a raid. No, today, they would have to be destroyed.
It was only fitting that Hypnos herself conducted their requiem.
Playback was busy having both a literal and figurative blast, enjoying the perks of being both bulletproof and armed with sonic cannons. Hypnos herself began to move toward the massive blast doors barring her entrance into the base itself as the last of the soldiers ultimately retreated to safety. "Noted" she replied to Soundwave. "Boss! LOOK!" Now that neither of them were in the air, the F-22's had swept back around for a pass. Playback had rightly deduced that a salvo of missiles was headed straight toward them.
Not phased in the slightest, Hypnos simply turned her eye skyward, watching as four missiles were launched in the distance by both raptors. Good, but not enough. With the gunfire largely having fallen silent, Hypnos folded her hands together, as if simply waiting for the missiles to strike. She then began to sing. It was a simple tune, one she had learned long, long ago, but coupled with her unique capabilities, became much more. The tune could suddenly be heard clearly by anything in a kilometer, including the missiles themselves. As if by sheer chance, the missile's straight path to their target suddenly skewed violently, having been sung off-course. All four exploded rather harmlessly against the red rock and steel surrounding Hypnos, leaving her completely unscathed.
Hypnos outstretched an arm toward the set of blast doors in front of her. Playback, taking the queue began to retreat to a safe distance. "OoH! You're doing the thing! Soundwave, she's doing the thing, get back!" The arm itself transformed into one massive cannon rapidly spinning up its barrel. Not wanting to waste any more time with the rabble outside, Hypnos fired on the door. Space seemed to bend around the gun's barrel as a bright burst of energy struck the door, practically disintegrating most of it, leaving a nice Decepticon-sized hole into the interior of the base.
Music, music played and Soundwave knew that it was produced from Hypnos, enrapturing those in a sophisticated weave of sound waves. That made the wave bar on his mask shift and try to recognize the patterns. It only happened a split second before his mask reflected the sky and the F-22's zooming about.
Missiles. His posture drooped slightly while an arm raised with his servo transforming into a plasma rifle to try and take aim at the fast approaching... veering destructive rods of death. Soon enough rocks and pebbles bounced off his frame which was absolutely nothing to him.
His mask started to shift to a very faded hue before onboard computers captured his hot headed emotions to bottle up and contain safely. Yet he made plans and started to sprint towards the fighter jets before launching himself into the air to transform into his drone mode. These fighter jets had humans in them and needed to be eliminated or else they could join others and share information. That is an unacceptable!
Just as his jet started to take off, a nice bit of shaking was given to it as Hypnos blasted a doorway into the structure! Still he was determined to collect the souls of the F-22's that looked like bad flying Dorito chips.
He had faith in Hypnos and her companion Playback to venture forth into base to start clearing things out Decepticon style. Yet were greeted to a plethora of cheaply made automated turrets in an effort to overwhelm with numbers than quality.
Hypnos and Playback entered the base proper as Soundwave left to deal with the humans' air support. It was larger than she'd anticipated. All the better, as she couldn't bear the thought of having to crouch through the hallways of a human base. Playback wouldn't have minded at all, given how pint-sized he was. Hypnos stopped abruptly just as she began to turn the corner. "Why don't you check out the way ahead? Better safe than sorry." Shaking his head in surprise, Playback replied, "W-what, me? Well uh, okay."
Marching off like the dutiful little gremlin he was, Playback didn't make it five feet before Hypnos heard the autoguns spinning up. The pinging of 5.56 against the little minicon's frame was music to her audials, although sadly it wasn't enough to rid her of that nuisance. Against all odds and laws of probability, Playback darted back round the corner only a moment later, his chassis sporting a few new holes.
"OKAY! They DEFINITELY have turrets up ahead!"
"Really? How do you know for sure? You should check again."
"I've got holes in me head!"
Since Playback was acting more cowardly than usual, Hypnos stepped up to do the deed herself. Her rotor blades snapped to her hand in an instant, beginning to spin up rapidly. So rapidly in fact that the incoming barrage of gunfire merely bounced off of them due to the sheer RPM. Each turret was slashed apart as Hypnos passed by, and before long they were clear of the hallway. The room ahead was something akin to the layout of the various Soviet-era bunkers Hypnos has previously been shipped through. Large, looming and impenetrable. Good. They were precisely on course.
The neglect of the F-22's was something he will hardly let go. To make up for his mistake, he charged towards the two who were aimed towards the base, unable to let loose their gatling guns in fear of hitting those below as Soundwave screeched upwards towards them. Twin cannons slotted out from the nose cone of the UAV look alike, taking aim at the two in the air.
To avoid collision they peeled off, rolling away quickly just as twin bursts of fire whizzed by. They had dodged death and the Decepticon made note of their prowess. He may not be the greatest flier of the Decepticon military, but he sure could handle greater G's than humans could. Which resulted in him flying past their original flight path before shifting form into a flip only to change back and burst after them in his own course correction.
One was chosen to be his prey while he swiveled a camera to keep track of the other so it wouldn't get the drop on him. His onboard computer was set to tracking and alerting for any missiles or gunfire while he himself focused on the twisting and turning F-22 infront of him. You may think you are chasing him, but he is always behind you.
To further bully the "lead" F-22, he stuck to it like glue while it's friend tried it's best to get Soundwave off. Until he launched a missile. Perfect... Soundwave sped up and stayed the course of the original, dipping and diving at inhuman levels to make sure he crept up to the lead until he immediately ducked... The lead was shot down by friendly fire! To add further insult to injury he transformed and fell, looking straight at the second F-22 for a good bit until he changed back to chase after it.
The cacophony of resistance had gradually died down into poorly coordinated, miserable flailings against Hypnos. Those that had remained to fight among the flame and hulk had chosen to stick to their heavy guns, although none of them could bring anything substantial to bear against her armor. Playback's armor was another matter, but his sense of self-preservation was proving its effectiveness once again. With a lunge, Hypnos dug her digits into the hood of the nearest vehicle, ignorant toward its rear tires' squealing attempt at freedom. Like a toy, she hoisted it up and bashed it against its companion, garnering a great deal of satisfaction as she pressed them both together. It was only as their engines erupted in unison that the chorus finally grew silent.
Accompanied only by the crackle of flame and billow of smoke now, Hypnos approached the central data-vault unimpeded, Playback cautiously in tow. The vault itself was undoubtedly secured by only the most impenetrable yet-also-cost-effective material the humans had.
Titanium...
No amount of accursed Titanium could stop a dark energy blast, however.
She nudged Playback with her pede, prompting him to open a boosted comm channel.
"We are preparing to breach the data-vault now. Continue anti-air operations at your discretion."
"Hi Soundwave!"
Turning back to the task at hand, Hypnos leveled and fired her arm cannon at the vault door. A brilliant flash lit up the room as beam met door. She waited rather calmly as her weapon continued to remove mass from the obstruction, content to simply watch the beautiful display in progress.
