Player Alias: Thundercat
Character Name: Cheetor
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance:
Personality: By Cybertron's standards, Cheetor walks a thin line of mature young adult and reckless teenager. Since his days during the Beast Wars, Cheetor has progressively matured and grown over the years. He has become a far more focused, hard working individual who takes time to step back and look at the bigger picture more than he use to. He's become more serious and calm, even to the point of being quite laid-back and easy going than in his more youthful teen years. This has become evident in his position as Maximal Commander and all the responsibilities that came with the position, making him level headed and organized, to the point he's more than proven himself capable of a leadership role.
However, the immature side of Cheetor still lingers. The young cat will often crack jokes and is still highly energetic despite being calmer than he once was. He still hates lingering in one spot for too long, but has a better control of his tendencies to take off or being impatient. Although, Cheetor still expresses this often and doesn't always want to sit around waiting for something to happen. He still very much jumps head first into situations after a short analysis, changing things as he goes along and generally winging things. Cheetor also shows a humorous, prankster side that has never left him, usually trying to be playful and a dork to lighten the mood when things get rough.
Nevertheless, Cheetor has found a balance to both sides. He's still head strong, stubborn, and vocal but fiercely loyal and willing to take the necessary steps to get a job done. Sometimes even against the orders of other superiors. He always follows his spark to what he thinks is right and usually means well, being quite easy to get along with in fact. But, there is no hiding Cheetor's overconfident and recklessness that sometimes interferes with his more mature nature.
Strengths:
Agile/Speed: Cheetor's frame is light weight and streamlined, allowing him to be far more maneuverable than some bots and quick on his feet. His chosen beast mode has made him naturally fast, capable of running speeds of 70 mph like that of an Earth cheetah, but he can gain additional speed from a pair of thrusters hidden within his sides, boosting his speed to about 90 and giving him limited gliding capabilities or extending the length of his leaps.
Small Frame: In his current form, Cheetor is roughly the size of a mini-bot, about as big as Bumblebee and Cliffjumper in their Cybertronian forms. Though slightly bulky in robot mode, he is still small and light enough to outmaneuver others, get into places larger bots cannot, and is swift in both beast and bot mode. In some instances, this works to his advantage in going unnoticed or escaping detection compared to other bots.
Mid-to-Short Range Weapons: Cheetor is a decently accurate shot when using weapons that are for close or mid-range combat to compliment his Melee preference. These weapons usually pack some punch when Cheetor is up close and personal, allowing him to get a bot from a small distance to point-blank when he gets the chance. In fact, over the years the young mech has learned to switch between melee to firearms in the middle of a fight, allowing him to be somewhat versatile.
Melee Specialist: Though versatile with his weaponry, Cheetor much prefers fighting up close and personal. Since the Beast Wars, Cheetor has learned to adapt rudimentary combat techniques and formal training, favoring his speed and maneuverability to get in close. His tactics vary from swift, brutal strikes to hit-and-run attacks.
Quick, Calculating Mind: Cheetor has the type of mind that, with maturation, has learned to analyze situations and act according to the best course of action. At least, ones he feels is necessary. He will formulate plans as the situation changes but tends to have an unorthodox method of making things up as he goes or going it solo. Making decision on the fly is how he works best but usually tries to coordinate with others, usually.
Weaknesses:
Light Frame: Despite giving Cheetor a speed and maneuverability advantage, his light frame can play against him. This makes Cheetor more susceptible to damage in both beast and robot mode, especially stronger foes and heavy artillery. Much less his smaller form also works against him in not quite blending into some areas compared to his more vehicle-based comrades.
Overconfident: Given some years under his belt and retaining some of his childish youth, Cheetor tends to be confident in his skills and abilities, to the point of being arrogant. At times he may view himself as being able to handle situations himself or without a problem when they seem straightforward and simple. This especially comes with the use of his sixth sense of sort that he feels will help him in most situations, despite being somewhat unpredictable.
Reckless: Along with the overconfidence, Cheetor tends to be reckless in how he plans and how he handles things. Sometimes he changes plans or does things at the drop of a dime, rushing head first into a situation that may be more than he can (sometimes literally) chew. This has more than gotten Cheetor into trouble in the past and his reckless, daredevil like stunts continue even into a young adult phase.
Weaponry Limits: Due to Cheetor favoring certain styles, he is somewhat predictable, favoring his speed and agility to get in close for close quarters and melee combat. This puts him at risk of those who can match him in skill or overpower him in strength and makes him practically a moving target for those who make use of long-range weapons.
Beast Instincts: Given his experience of a beast form, Cheetor usually has relatively good control of himself, though not always. Ever since his Transmetal II state and techno-organic nature, his beast instincts will creep in often, causing him to act more feline-like and feral than Cybertronian, sometimes even relying on them on missions. This makes Cheetor sometimes fall into a state of primitive instinct, acting as a normal wild cat might for a short time, requiring time for his programming to override this or someone snapping him out of it.
Abilities:
Heightened Smell/Hearing: With his beast mode, Cheetor's smell and hearing are far more heightened than a normal Cybertronian. His smell is capable of picking up some of the faintest of smells and deciphering a specific one, so long as its only a day or two old or hasn't been completely destroyed by the elements or other means. His hearing is likewise heightened to hear from about a mile radius, even to the point of picking up some low frequencies.
Sixth Sense/Slight Precognition: Since before, during, and after the Beast Wars, Cheetor was gifted with power of precognitive dreams, usually happening within a day or two of the actual event. Though happening sparingly, Cheetor has had no control over this ability nor knows when these events will truly occur. However, this ability altered to true precognition after the Oracle merged with him following the death of his father figure and mentor, Optimus Primal. Now, Cheetor occasionally sees glimpses of events when awake, sometimes quick flashes in combat that has extended into a sixth sense, albeit erratic in accuracy and unpredictable to the point he must sometimes act on a hunch and instinct.
Weaponry:
Scimitars (2): Cheetor makes use of sharply curved, almost crescent moon shaped single bladed scimitars, reminiscent of his time during the Beast Era fight on Cybertron. These blades are unique in that they do not have standard hilts, a hole being present towards the smaller area of the blade with a cylindrical handhold for Cheetor to grip the blade. These blades can be combined to create a a single, double sided blade he can wield with one or both hands.
Tail-Whip: Usually coiled around his waist, Cheetor's tail is detachable, forming a slim handle that has a button to extend the segments slightly with small spikes in between the spaces. This whip extends to about ten feet in length.
Quasar Rifle: Though once lost to his techno-organic form, Cheetor has regained a version of his quasar rifle, somewhat resembling his "Gut Gun". It has more of a resemblance to a Neutron Assault Rifle but is a bit on the bulky, smaller side, being able to fire military grade armor piercing rounds or quick session concentrated energy rounds.
Claws/Teeth (Beast Mode): In his beast mode, Cheetor has naturally sharp fangs and retractable claws, easily capable of damaging and tearing through Cybertronian metal hides.
History: Cheetor has been through a lot outside this universe, hailing from the original Beast Era as one of the youngest Maximal crew members of Optimus Primal's exploration ship. Since under the command of the one he viewed as a father figure, Cheetor has been through much during his time on prehistoric Earth and the return to modern day Cybertron of his time. Battling Predacons left quite a mark on the young feline, forcing him to go through painful changes of the nexus beings known as the Vok and later a complete change of life thanks to the Oracle.
After much hardships, loss, and all the good times in between, Cheetor matured into a leader of the Maximals, taking up the role as acting commander after the death of Optimus Primal and Megatron. Following their deaths, the young cheetah helped forge a new reformatted Cybertron, playing a role as part of Cybertron's new Maximal High Council and head of security. However, fate would seem to throw a new curve ball to Cheetor during a raid of illegal tampering with transwarp technology, finding himself face-to-face with the black market dealers when said raid took place. Unfortunately, their tampering had made a few transwarp cells unstable and leaving few options of stopping the preparation of a transwarp jump.
Thinking fast, Cheetor was able to coordinate some of his officers to get the dealers out, personally using his speed and strength to quicken the process...but at an expected cost. With no time to get away himself, the transwarp cells blew the engines of the ship, triggering a brief transwarp explosion that caught the Maximal commander in close proximity, through him through another jump of time and space before coming to crash land in the wilderness of Cybertron small in the middle of a war zone.
Damaged and in and out of consciousness, Cheetor would have one last gift from the Oracle of reformatting his frame to fit the new environment he had landed in. Too far from home and in an area where the Oracle never existed, it soon became completely silent before his world went black. The next Cheetor awoke was within an Autobot medical facility, nearly panicking and worried he had been captured somehow until the doctors were able to calm him down. Much to his shock, Cheetor was among those he had considered ancestors, having to lie that he had come from a planet far different than he knew now.
Realizing he no longer held the connection to the Oracle or that any of his communications channels were working, Cheetor slowly had to adapt and accept he was no longer home. Or anywhere remotely like it. Overtime, Cheetor settled into being a warrior and saboteur, using his beast mode and unassuming frame to get in and out of places some would not up until the exodus of Cybertron occurred. There, he found himself evacuating Cybertron and for a time traveled from place to place, trying to find other ways to return home to no avail.
And it is only recently that Cheetor has made his war to a both familiar and unfamiliar planet he has not been to in years.
Roleplay/Writing Sample: Cheetor silently prowled along the dark alley way, hidden by the cover of night and the shadow cast by the buildings. It was a cool, late night in Jasper, an opportunity for the former Maximal to get a closer look at human civilization.
It really was a whole new world than he had last known it, better described as what his ancestors had dealt with. But where he came from that had been years ago, and Cheetor had been to a much different, more wild Earth, prehistoric in fact. So the young feline was there to get a feel for this entirely new aspect of Earth. It wasn’t that he found cities strange after having a beast mode for so long, quite use to it in fact since his Cybertron’s reformatting. What he wasn’t use to was how Earth looked now. The humans were far more evolved, even more numerous than what had been in the valley so long ago, and far more...advanced. It was rather unsettling in a way.
The mech paused as he heard foot steps nearby, ducking down behind a large trash container, barely peeking around to watch a human couple walk by. They seemed none the wiser to his presence thankfully. Unlike the other Autobots, he stuck out like a sore thumb now and he had to keep a lower profile than what his crew had to go through. It was a bit of a pain really.
Once he heard the couple was a good distance away the young feline finally stepped out from hiding and crept towards the end of the alley way. Peering down both sides of the street, Cheetor dashed across to the opposite side of the street, just slowly making his way through the town.
