Player Alias: Jaxrond
Character Name: Jazz
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description:
Standing at approximately the same height as Prowl, Jazz is a ‘medium sized’ bot. His white coloring and black accents seem an odd choice for a spy, but, it hasn’t stopped him yet. His Autobot insignia is emblazoned on a strip of blue on his chest. Jazz’s perhaps most recognizable features are his unique helm the visor over his optics. The latter provides a wider field of vision than those with two separate optics have, acting as a window of sorts and making it so that he doesn’t have a forward-facing blind spot.
Alt Mode:
Posche Caymen 718
Personality:
Jazz is a ‘go with the flow’ kind of bot. To him, life is like music, and moving through it is like dancing. You’ve gotta be ready to change it up at a moment’s notice or else you’ll lose your rhythm. Because of this, Jazz is a master of improvisation. It seems like nothing surprises him because of his chill attitude and ability to react quickly, but, the truth is, he might be surprised, he’s just ready to roll with the proverbial punches at all times. Prime’s third in command and head of Special Ops in his own universe, he gets what it means to be an officer and a leader, though, his usually laid-back attitude may cause some doubt.
Jazz is the type of mech to walk into a combat situation with an easy-going smile on his face and keep his tone cool even when talking with the Decepticons. Everything seems to slide right off that cool attitude like water off a duck’s feathers. It’s his real self, but, it’s not a personality that the war lets him maintain. He’s seen things, and done things, that would cause more than a few shudders. He’s a cool guy, and he likes to be the fun, friendly type. But, he’s also the Autobots’ main saboteur, which means he can’t be afraid to get his servos dirty. He’ll do whatever is required for the mission, even if it means putting his fellows at risk.
Despite that, Jazz is fairly caring and optimistic. He fights because he wants to return to a peaceful Cybertron, and comradery is important to him. If turning himself into one of the bad guys means they get to the end goal faster, so be it. At spark, though, he’s still that musician from Staniz.
Strengths:
Go With It- Jazz’s improvisation ability makes him unpredictable, to allies and enemies alike. He makes split-second calls when necessary to get the job done. If that means forsaking the agreed-upon plan? So be it. This ability also factors into interpersonal communication. He can get pretty accurate reads on others and adjust his reactions to them accordingly. Not many can out-think him on the fly.
Charisma- This bot could charm his way into a nunnery with a smile and a few words. He knows how and when to be smooth. He also knows how to inspire confidence in his abilities.
Pop Culture- Movies, television, and current events, he definitely knows, both on Cybertron and on Earth. But, his true forte is in music. You can bet he’s already got whatever new album is about to be released and has formulated his opinions on it. There’s not a music genre he doesn’t like, but, his spark will always be true to the sounds he named himself for.
Style- Jazz’s personal flair and style make him very unique. Even his transformations have a bit of pop and zazz. He walks with a cool swagger most of the time, and even his vocal patterns reflect a personal preference.
Speed and Stealth- As an infiltrator, Jazz has trained himself to be incredibly stealthy, and he can move fast when he needs to. Put him in vehicle mode and, while he may not be keeping up with the resident speedsters, his driving is nothing to scoff at.
Weaknesses:
Wear the Mask- It’s difficult for even those closest to him to tell when something’s wrong. Jazz’s outgoing personality is oftentimes the mask he wears in hard situations. Though, he’s just as capable of trading it for the that of Autobot soldier.
Whatever it Takes- Jazz’s role as the guy who does what’s necessary sometimes alienates him from his fellows. He can be brutal when the situation calls for it, though, he prefers not to be.
Go it Alone- Oftentimes, Jazz will go on missions that require him to act alone. This means that, should things go South, a rescue may be too far out to do any real good.
We’ve Done Things- Jazz feels incredibly guilty for some of the things he and his fellows have done. Especially where Earth is concerned. In his mind, it’s unforgiveable that they dragged an innocent planet into their civil war. He hides it well, though, keeping it all tamped down inside.
Size- Jazz isn’t a large mech, and his frame has been modified for stealth, not strength. He’s fully capable of using an opponent’s momentum and size against them in combat, but, his own size can be used the same way. Plus, he’s light, meaning, if he takes a hard it, it’s gonna hurt.
Abilities:
Spook- Infiltration, sabotage, interrogation, and undercover missions are Jazz’s forte. He’s usually the one with the latest stealth tech, and is so light on his feet that he’s able to infiltrate places others would say are unthinkable. He’s got the know-how to bring down enemy operations and get out undetected before they even realize what’s going on. And interrogation? Let’s just say you don’t want to be the one sitting in the chair. He can be nice..or not.
Large Memory Drive- As unhelpful as it sounds, Jazz has a larger than average storage capacity in his CPU. Originally, this was used to store music back on Cybertron. Then, he became a spy and that capacity turned to information gathering. And music. It’s where he keeps his favorite Earth music to play when the mood strikes him. Otherwise, he keeps his favorite tunes on external drives and data units.
Leadership- Though a bit of a loner at times, Jazz has an undeniable charisma and a lot of experience. He didn’t become TiC for no reason. He can rally a squad of bots fairly quickly, especially if Optimus is backing him.

Close Range- Jazz carries a range of small to medium sized hidden blades. He's stealthy and quick and much more maneuverable than his frame suggests. He's proficient in climbing and parkour and has a grappling hook that he uses for such.
Mid-Range-
Sonic Disruptors: Quite literally what they sound like. Jazz is capable of manipulating the frequencies the disruptors output, turning sound itself into his weapon. The effects vary based on how near the target is, and the range of sound can go from a low, barely-audible thrum to a high, glass-shattering tone. While highly effective, they are also loud, meaning that he prefers not to use them unless absolutely necessary, and never in a stealth situation.
Also in his midrange arsenal are a number of small bombs, creative traps, and distractive devices.
Long Range- Jazz rarely goes for long range combat, preferring to 'keep it personal', but does have dual blasters, and he's a crack shot with what he does use.
Hand to Hand- Jazz is particularly skilled in martial arts, able to move fast to neutralize and disarm an opponent quickly. Some of this is from his security days, but, he’s definitely picked things up during the war.
History:
Jazz spent his early years in the spaceport of Staniz, where shipbuilding was the main economic support of the city. For a free spirit like Jazz, it just wasn’t his style. Which was why he was drawn to the music scene that grew from the social hotspots of the city, the restaurants and bars. It was this love of music, and of playing, that eventually led him to joining magna marching band and leaving his home city behind. In fact, it was from this love that his current name was derived. What his name was previously is unknown.
Unfortunately, much like on Earth, music alone doesn’t pay the bills, forcing Jazz to take a low-end security job in Kaon. He rose through the ranks of his workplace fairly quickly, being charismatic and adaptable. Things came easily to him, and he proved himself to be a good fighter. Good enough that, after a while, he was relocated to Iacon. All the while, he kept playing, leading a bit of a double life. Security officer by day, entertainer by night. It was a fairly happy point in his life, despite the looming of the senate.
Then, the Decepticons rose up. Jazz had been tasked with keeping an eye on their movements, after all, such a vocally radical group could pose a threat. And they did. Unfortunately, for all his watchfulness, not even he could see how fast things would go downhill. Talk of peaceful change turned too quickly to violence, leaving Jazz as one of the many defending the capitol in the first major Decepticon attack, which would serve as the starting point of the civil war.
From the start of the war, Jazz was an Autobot. He just wanted Cybertron at peace again. He missed his music and the nights spent out on the town. And, as long as the war was going on, none of that was happening. His particular skillset meant that he was a perfect candidate for Special Operations. A bit of extra training, and, before long, he was the bot sent in to wreck supply lines, sneak in and steal intel, and pull off quick extractions. Not everything always went to plan, but his adaptability meant that he survived encounter after encounter, always coming out and ready to go the next round. It was this, and his ability to lift the spirits of his comrades and lead them, that led to his rapid ascent through the ranks. Over the next few million years, Jazz went from simple Autobot soldier to head of Special Operations and Third in Command of the faction. He reported directly to Optimus and Prowl, serving as a member of Autobot high command to push the war effort forward.
Then, everything went to pit.
The planet was dying, Megatron was pushing forward, and energon was becoming scarce. In response to this, Jazz was sent to scout out a planet in a distant system, one with which Cybertron had minimal dealings in the past. It was believed that this planet had been seeded with energon, which could possibly be mined to help the Autobots maintain their strength. He only managed to return a short confirmation of energon readings before Prime declared an evacuation of the planet.
Jazz was present to receive his displaced comrades, having spent some time on Earth already. He’d taken well to being a ‘robot in disguise’ and had even taken to Earth’s culture well, having developed a particular affinity for their music. He spent the following four years aiding the Autobots in handling an insurgency led by Starscream, working directly under Prowl during that time.
That was when things went a little odd for Jazz. He remembers some odd things happening, but, there are a lot of gaps and discrepancies in his memory banks. Things that just don’t line up. Despite the confusion of this time, Jazz continued to work for the betterment of the Autobot cause, pushing through the sheer oddness of what occurred in order to protect the planet and help continue the war against the Decepticons, even as more arrived. To this end, he fought Knock Out for the Polarity Gauntlets when the race for the relics began, but, his battle ended in defeat and the loss of the Gauntlets.
At a later point during the war on Earth, Jazz found himself faced with a difficult choice. The Autobots’ situation was declining and the Decepticons seemed to be growing in power every day. Unwilling to simply let the Autobots fall to ruin, Jazz made a call, one that only the Optimus at the time knew about: he would ‘betray’ the Autobots and infiltrate the Decepticon ranks, going deep undercover. To cement his place within Megatron’s forces, Jazz kidnapped Ratchet and delivered him and his Synth-en formula to the warlord, relying on the capabilities of his fellows in rescuing the medic before permanent damage could occur. His deception was well played, as he was, warily, taken in by the Decepticons.
Since that time, Jazz has been laying low. Gathering information about the Decepticons themselves as well as the odd occurrence that has been causing others to cross over from alternate universes. His plan is simple, gather all he can, then, do all the damage he can on his way back out.
Hopefully, the guys back at base won’t hate him too much for what he’s done. And Prowl will forgive him for not being there when he said he would.
Roleplay Sample:
He'd thought he had a handle on what kind of power the 'Cons were packing. They'd had Megatron, yeah. Soundwave, Shockwave, and a couple of other heavy hitters. He'd even been 80% certain that at least one member of the DJD had been around. But, he'd figured that, so long as it was just one, things were work out fine.
He hadn't known about Tarn, sorry, Ratch. He hadn't known about the other members being there. Or, really, just how many big timers the Decepticons had. And more seemed to be arriving all the time. All in all...he'd misjudged the situation.
It had happened before, and it would likely happen again. All he had to do was roll with the punches and keep his feet. He'd known this wouldn't be easy. But, thus far, he'd stayed as far under the radar as possible. Oh, he figured that they were keeping a close eye on him, simply because of what he had done to their efforts over the years. His lip components quirked in a small smirk. Flattering, boys, really. They likely suspected his true purpose. But, watched or not, he was on board, and he'd already discovered some interesting things. Not enough to pull out quite yet, but, a decent amount. He hadn't even needed to hack into anything yet, a move which could alert Soundwave to his intentions. He'd just listened and watched, quietly observing.
He moved down the hallway now, ignoring the wrongness of the Deception emblem on his chest. Primus, that just wasn't right. But, what was that human saying? Beggars can't be choosers? Well, he was making a big gamble right now, one of the biggest he'd ever made. And he'd take every advantage he could, even if it didn't feel right.
