First Aid honestly hadn't expected to need to do a follow-up on his one-time patient, but after Pharma just kinda...vanished he'd picked up a lot of work around base. And as he was reviewing patient files, he'd found the documentation of his one-time encounter with the neutral mech. He'd regarded his datapad for a long handful of seconds, considering. Yes, their last interaction had been when the other kidnapped him...but he didn't think that Barricade was a bad mech...just gruff. Like Ironhide....with a lot more sarcasm. Kinda.
Okay, bad comparison.
That aside, he'd be remiss to just leave him, especially when the bot had been in such a bad state. That had led to another pondering- where did he even find him? A few of the others had reported seeing him in the area. Apparently, Sunstreaker had even come close to a brawl. But that was Sunstreaker, who brawled with almost everyone he didn't like or at least tolerate....and hat reminded him that Barricade was out there alone, without a real medic to make routine checkups and-
He was transformed and on the road before he had more time to think it through. There was likely to be an Autobot patrol close enough if he ran into trouble, after all. He may as well make the attempt and hope Barricade was in the area. He didn't dare broadcast a signal, hoping that his natural energy signature would be plenty.

Depending on a few factors, he generally preferred to patrol close to his base. But ever since the Autobot Prowl had produced a pair of sparklings he hadn't been able to make himself go too far from the Outpost. Close enough to keep an optic on things, but far enough away not to get shot too often by the patrols. It helped that he'd changed out of enforcer colors into a plain white Mustang. Also that his signal was neutral. Chaotic neutral, but neutral.
He'd come a long way in the time since he'd first found himself on the run. Injured, terrified, confused as to what exactly had happened. Memories disjointed but distinct. It had taken him a long time to get back to fully functional, and it had started due to the kidnapping of one small bot.
As if thinking about that day spawned him Barricade caught a familiar signature on his scanners and vented with a growl. Well, someone hadn't learned his lesson. Out alone, probably still without proper weapons, and too far for help to get him if he did get into trouble. If a frontline warrior like Barricade wanted to he'd be dead before he could call for help. He was no Ratchet, who could hold his own in battle.
So he adjusted course, coming right up on the medic and honking at him before opening a comm channel. "One would think you would have learned not to go out by yourself, medic."

First Aid had gotten just out of comfort range when Barricade found him. Just far enough that he'd be in serious trouble if something were to happen. Sure, he'd practiced a bit with his blaster but...he just wasn't a fighter. Not like his brothers. A real fighter would take him out no problem. But that had never stopped him before.
He had felt a flare of worry when the vehicle pulled up behind him, but a quick scan verified who it was. Further proof came when Barricade opened the comm channel. Grouchy as ever, that was for certain. He rotated his mirrors slightly to take in the white mustang.
::Well, I've never been accused of being overly intelligent,:: he replied, almost cheerfully.
Quite the opposite, actually. Blades, especially, liked to remind First Aid of 'just how slagging stupid' he could be. Usually He after he'd driven into he line of fire to reach sounded Bots.
::I was looking for you, actually. I'd like to do a follow-up, if you don't mind.::
He was fairly certain normal mechs didn't hunt down their kidnappers to offer further help, but he never claimed to be normal either.

::Follow-up?:: It took him far longer than it should have to realize what the other was referring to. ::You came all the way out here looking for me for that?::
Medics were weird.
::Why would you waste valuable resources on a mech that is not even part of your faction, especially one that not too long ago was an enemy?:: He wouldn't hurt the medic now, of course, he had no reason.
::I already owe you for the last time, medic.:: It was bad enough that he'd had to resort to botnapping just to have his injuries seen to. But it was that or surrender himself to the 'mercy' of the Autobots. Not happening. He adjusted his route, pulling along so that he was a respectful distance behind the other while being clear that he was following him.

First Aid could almost hear Groove's mellow tone in his audial: 'Not everyone is as nice as you, Aid'. Which was he other's way of calling him weird. Kind of. Barricade's reaction wasn't unexpected. He'd honestly fixed people he probably shouldn't have in the past, so a Decepticon defector wasn't too bad. Not that he was going to tell Barricade that.
::Well, we've got Ratchet and me, and the Decepcons have Knockout. You don't have anyone, some I thought I might as well. I'm a Protectobot, after all.:: He and his brothers were proud of that name, and he planned to continuing honoring it. Even if people thought it was odd.
:: How about you lead me to a safe place I could examine you and we'll call it good,:: he suggested in response to Barricade's notion of owing him.
Being a medic was actually a pretty thankless job. He'd fix bots up and send them back out and hope for the best. He didn't expect anything in return because it was just what he did.

::Medics are in high demand and scarce to find right now. Putting yourself in danger for one neutral is stupid. Particularly when you have little practical combat experience or weaponry.:: His tone was mild, but when speaking with First Aid he often felt like he was speaking to someone much younger than he was. Someone that didn't understand that the world was a dangerous place that could and would destroy him if he wasn't careful. But then Barricade was paranoid.
::A second favor does not negate the first. Then I simply owe you twice. I am not one of your comrades, I am an unknown factor that may or may not mean you harm. You have no way of knowing which it is until it would be too late.:: He vented, adjusting his speed and starting to herd the little mech towards town. Driving around on the outskirts would get one or both of them scrapped.
::I can abide your request, under the condition that you accept my comm signal and call me should you find yourself in danger. That is the only way to ensure that I can repay you the debt I owe, and I refuse to be seen to otherwise.:: He felt that that would be an acceptable compromise in this situation. He was an enforcer by design and creation, a task that he hadn't been able to continue doing after becoming a Decepticon. He wanted to be useful, he was programmed at the spark of him to be a protector. But circumstances meant he couldn't do that so he had to find ways to repay those that helped him.
