Player Alias: Thundercat
Character Name: Windblade
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description:
When one meets Windblade, she could easily be mistaken for a Vosian. Windblade shares a fairly similar streamlined, sleek appearance to most smaller framed Seekers with the typical frame of most female Cybertronians. She has the slender waist, arms, and upper legs while her lower legs are a bit on the larger side with visible heels and thrusters just slightly above these. Windblade’s cockpit though is located on her back with her wings on her upper back typical of most fliers, which are retractable. But overall, her appearance is that of an elegant, sleek flier with a stylization of Japanese motifs, especially appearing to wear Kabuki stage make up and onna bugeisha hairstyle to her helm.
In terms of coloration, Windblade is mainly a mix of red, black, and gray across her form save for hints of blue on her knees, trimming on her chest plates and face, along her wrists, and just visible in the middle of her VTOL turbines. Her face is solid white with red “Kabuki” markings as referenced above and gold on the “tessen” fan and décor on the upper sides of her helm. Her optics are a bright cerulean blue typical of Autobots. As an alternate form, Windblade transforms into a Cybertronian fighter jet with VTOL flight capabilities.
Personality: Windblade couldn’t be more fitting to the Autobot role and beliefs than any other. She is the type of femme who believes strongly in justice, freedom, and truth and is the type to be exceptionally strong in her convictions. She is an honorable, caring bot with a “heart” of gold who can be both humble and confident in her beliefs and actions. Windblade is honest to a fault and tends to be quite trusting, believing others can have a good side and that sometimes being just need the benefit of the doubt to show that side or a little push. Like some Autobots, she feels redemption is not out of reach and with enough patience, time, and effort someone can show that side no matter how faint it might seem. She is also known to be quite dutiful and will do what is needed when it comes to her tasks as an Autobot.
Unfortunately for this Camien, Windblade is still a young bot at spark, which means she still suffers from much of that young bot aspect of herself. She can be quite reckless and jump into some situations without thinking, being fairly over-confident and feeling she can take on the universe at times. Windblade is out spoken, social, and seeks to show others that she is just as capable as they are, especially when it comes to her peers and superior officers. But, Windblade can be fairly calm and when not eagerly jumping into a fight can take time to observe and analyze a situation with how to best handle it. But nevertheless, she can be trouble prone and sometimes Windblade can be a frustrating femme to work with due to her convictions and decisions of how to handle things.
Though there is no denying that Windblade is charismatic, sassy, and fun-loving overall, she is not devoid of feeling negative aspects of her personality. She can often face frustration in her mission to help her adoptive faction and can express anger and rage when her friends and loved ones are harmed or when someone speaks ill of her home colony of Caminus. Windblade is a fierce and protective femme who will always be willing to lay her life on the line for those she considers close and her anger can be quite swift and temper fierce. She won’t hesitate to give someone a piece of her mind and can be someone you’d rather want as an ally than an enemy. Although, Windblade has also shown hints to be a worrier and bend to the will of even enemies to protect what she holds dear if it means safety of someone or something.
Strengths:
Flight: Windblade has a major advantage of flight and the sensitive sensors that are located across her frame like other flight frames. It gives her an advantage against those who are ground-based, allowing her to strike from above and out maneuver certain opponents. Her sensors also allow her to detect changes and disturbances in the air of which to allow her to alter her course accordingly. In addition, the use of her VTOLs in vehicle mode give her much greater maneuverability than normal fliers, allowing her to go up, down, side to side, and maneuver far more easily in her jet form. Her wings are also capable of being retracted into her back in robot mode for greater maneuverability.
Acrobatic/Dancer: On Caminus, Windblade did quite a bit of studying and practicing in acrobatic and dancing maneuvers, of which she translated into her close quarters combat and aerial maneuvers. She has trained to use them both in the air and on land when necessary, being quite adept with both. Both have also helped in her agility, speed, and dexterity, of which translates both in her robot and alternate modes.
Light Armor: Windblade has light armor so as to not hinder her form, allowing for her agile, speedy and great maneuverability in her forms.
Close Quarters Specialist: On top of her acrobatics and dancing, Windblade studied extensively in close quarters combat techniques, especially Cybertronian martial arts. In fact, she is considered a skilled warrior on Caminus and has made quite a formidable fighter up close and personal with others, which has been supplemented by her years of study of acrobatics and dancing, both often seen in her fighting style.
Master Swordswoman: Windblade’s chosen weapons are usually bladed weapons or weapons that have some kind of sharp edges. Her personal preference is swords, especially her personal Stormfall Swords, but she is quite skilled in the use of others should she be given the chance. She is capable of using short swords, long swords, daggers, sais, spears, and throwing knives if she gets her hands on them.
Decent with Long Range weaponry: Though Windblade much prefers being up close and personal with her favored weapons being blades, she’s no slouch in using long-ranged weapons either. In fact, she is quite a decent shot and can use them when she needs to. Her most accurate shots are usually within the 60-70 foot range while any further it’s a bit of a gamble, its not to say she’s a markswoman of any sort or anything close to a sniper but she can be a crack shot when necessary.
Weaknesses:
Flight: Just as flight is one of Windblade’s greatest assets, it is also one of her greatest weaknesses. The sensors on her form are sensitive, which means certain stimuli might prove distracting or exceptionally painful, especially in the wings. The loss of a turbine would prevent some of Windblade’s maneuverability much less maintaining a decent flight pattern while the loss of a thruster or wing would ground her for the remainder of a mission or battle.
Close Range Preference: Windblade’s preference for fighting up close and personal with an enemy also leaves her open to stronger opponents getting some hits in just as much as she is capable of doing. Some bots are stronger and could use brute force to do some damage or other opponents could easily match her speed and agility. She also leaves herself open as a target from long-range weaponry, especially when she tries to dive right into a situation.
Light Armor: Just as Windblade’s armor helps her with speed, agility, and dexterity and to prevent a physical hindrance to her form, it also can be a liability. Heavy artillery and brute force become her enemies, the light armor easily able to be dented and damaged if she isn’t careful while some weapons can tear through the thin layers and be just as devastating.
Over-confident/Reckless: With being a young bot, Windblade does often let her over-confidence turn into jumping right into situations without entirely giving it a second thought. This makes her reckless and trouble prone to the point she can sometimes get herself into situations where she bites off more than she can chew. She has a deep desire to prove herself which may prove to be her undoing if she isn’t careful or learn to better call upon back up.
Too Trusting: Windblade is also the kind who tends to allow her trust get the better of her and can be used against her. Her belief that people can change or should be given a chance can sometimes backfire on her to the point she puts herself in danger of getting into a trap or trouble just as much as her over-confidence or recklessness could cause.
Lack of using Long-Range: Windblade isn’t one to really equip herself with a lot of long-range weaponry compared to most bots. She will use the extra weapons when the situation or time calls for it, but she generally sticks with the blasters in her vehicle form and Turbine Wind Cannons as her chosen long-range weapons of choice. This again can leave her something of an open target.
Heightened Senses: As useful as Windblade’s heightened senses can be, she is limited within a certain range to smell and hear, limited to a five-mile radius for her hearing and her smell can sometimes take time to decipher among several. These can also be overwhelmed by certain smells or sounds that make Windblade a bit more sensitive than most Transformers. Her tracking systems also cannot get past signal jammers, certain cloaking devices (such as with the Nemesis), and is also limited to the range of ten miles.
Abilities:
Heightened Senses: Windblade’s tracking systems, hearing, and olfactory sensors were above that of a normal Transformer, making her capable of tracking different types of signatures when most would normally be difficult to detect to being able to hear sounds some could not or too low to hear, and she can pick up on certain scents that most cannot detect or lose track of. These have been heightened by her encounter with Primus himself, expanding these to becoming more acute with her detecting familiar scents above others and hearing from a far greater distance, roughly a 5-mile radius. Her scanners have also expanded to be able to cover the area of ten miles.
Cityspeaker/Telepathy: Coming from Caminus, Windblade is one of those bots who is gifted with using telepathy, making her one of the few who is a Cityspeaker by title. The basics of this ability allows her to project her own mind into the mind's of others, connecting their consciousness and allowing her to perceive and interact with their thoughts and memories. Or she can interact with them through a projection of herself to their inner state of mind, thereby reading their thoughts and vice versa. Though she can accomplish this on her own power, the use of a Cortical Psychic Patch strengthens this connection, although if a connection goes wrong this can trigger a painful negative feedback between both parties, especially Windblade herself that causes a massive energy burst that knocks out all those within the blast radius for a time.
Weaponry:
Stormfall Swords: Windblade has a pair of twin black and gray hilts, which activate hard-light blades that are red-violet in color with the top of the blade resembling her swirl motifs before going into a curving, broad single sided blade extending about as long as her forearm. In the base of the hilts are smaller turbines resembling the ones in her wings, which she can activate with a button on top of the sword hilt which can cause the swords to become empowered with more energy to increase their cutting power and strength, although this lasts for all about two minutes before they have to power down and allow the hilts to cool down.
"Tessen" Fan: Aside from her swords, Windblade makes use of a gold colored metal fan-like weapon resembling a tessen war fan from Earth. She can use this as a throwing weapon, striking an enemy when her larger swords won’t seem to cut it (no pun intended), and to block energy shots. The fan itself is hidden upon her helm and isn’t used except on rare occasions.
VTOL Turbine Wind Cannons: Windblade’s only distance weapon in robot mode is her turbine fans. These can spin at such a speed as to cause powerful gusts of wind, sometimes even concentrated into vortexes to strike her foes. But these turbines also glow to become powerful laser cannons that seemingly resemble sonic boom like rings of which can easily knock an opponent back or tear through stones and trees. Though these can also be used in jet mode, more specifically with being able to create the powerful gusts of wind.
Machine Guns (jet form): In jet form, Windblade has a pair of modified machine guns altered to fit her smaller frame and that fires photon rounds.
History: Unlike most Autobots, Windblade was sparked on the colony planet of Caminus, a world resembling Cybertron but with a very much different culture and beliefs. While still quite young in terms of Cybertronian standards, Windblade was for a few years part of one of Caminus’ sororities while she began studying topics of interest. Her interests fell into combat, dancing, and acrobatics, all of which immediately drew her in as if she was meant to learn them from the very moment her spark first came online. Also during this period, Windblade was one of the few who didn’t express the deep religious belief most Camiens did towards Primus, the original Thirteen, and all Camiens having a small spark of Solus in them. But she did feel that Primus was indeed a powerful entity and that the acting Prime/Primes should be held with respect.
During her studies, the young femme would follow the Way of Flame enough to have some Amica Enduras and would eventually become noted for her skill with bladed weapons. Her skill was enough to in fact pass her required tests most eventually took before she fully became integrated into Caminus’ society. Thus, for some time Windblade served as an enforcer and officer on Caminus, helping to handle every day concerns and crimes on her home world before the young flier began to feel a sense of restlessness with her daily routine.
What she really wanted was to see what lied beyond her home world, growing a deep sense of adventure and curiosity that led to her decision to leave Caminus, if even for a while. Seeking out the Mistress of Flame, Windblade sought to be granted permission to have a long leave from her home of which she was given a blessing and approval to do so. Excited, the young femme expressed her gratitude before informing her Amica Enduras, bidding them a temporary, at the time at least, farewell before she set off to parts unknown in the galaxy. But this seemingly directionless voyage would bring her into contact with much more than she would ever hope to bargain for.
After a few months into her travels, the femme had a chance encounter with an off-world fight between Autobots and Decepticons from Cybertron, quite shocked to even come across others of her kind after so many years from Cybertron itself. Unfortunately, Windblade was caught off guard by a stray shot striking her wing, causing her to crash by the nearby Autobots attacking the Decepticon outpost and surprising them with her appearance all of a sudden. But not above giving aid, the group quickly took her in and not only repaired her but exchanged stories with her of what was going on as she in return told them where she was from and what Caminus was like. Although, she did have some amusement with their medic as her lower spark frequency, largely due to Caminus’ lack of proper resources, always seemed to concern them. But she soon recovered and after spending a decent time with the group declared her faction.
Before long, Windblade found herself on Cybertron itself with the group, eventually winding up serving as part of the few aerial-based Autobots for the cause. She continued the long struggle with her fellow Autobots and newly adopted home, well even past the Exodus since she opted to stay to defend the Autobots forces rather than leave. Not that she would stay forever. Windblade found herself drawn to the healing core of Cybertron, called by a faint yet powerful sounding voice seemingly resonating from her very core. It soon became clear that voice was Primus himself choosing Windblade to be a sort of guardian, possibly among a handful of others over the years. Utterly shocked by this, the femme still didn’t hesitate to agree to task set before her by Primus who also upgraded her armor, weaponry, and tracking capabilities for the coming evils.
After her upgrade, Windblade was sent to Earth some thousand years before the conflict would move to the planet and was put in stasis to await when she would be needed. Recently, her systems have begun picking up on the signals of the Autobots and Decepticons, causing her to awaken from her stasis and make her presence known to her enemies and allies. It has been for the past month or so that Windblade has rejoined the war, having been assigned to Bumblebee’s team in Crown City, but she does often work as a solo act.
