Player Alias: Thundercat
Character Name: Glowstrike
Allegiance: Decepticons
Appearance Description:
Glowstrike shares the average height and build for femmes, such as Arcee or Airachnid, having a slender frame and small stature that gives her greater maneuverability and flexibility than a bulky framed Cybertronian. Her upper armor lacks the usual bust seen in many female Cybertronains, actually being flat and somewhat bulkier, resembling a short sleeved short layered over another thinner layer of armor that is visible towards the abdomen. She has visible shoulder guards that extend a few inches off her frame and her lower half resembled something of a bikini bottom with four separate armor plates splayed out like a skirt. Her head shape resembled that of Airachnid with a three-pointed crest that frames her face, two points leaning out at angles and another going upwards connected to a thicker strip of armor down the middle and two dome-like bumps on either side.
When it comes to her alternate mode, Glowstrike is an insecticon who resembles a robotic lightning bug, and to others she is seen as a robotic ladybug. The form is somewhat smaller than the average insecticon but she still shares their bulky, armored form with translucent insectoid wings that grant her flight. She has the six insect legs and head full with a small horn, mandibles, and compound eyes. Upon her back, Glowstrike's energy weapons usually seen in her hands are visible here as well and can be used in this mode if she so desires.
Glowstrike's coloration also stands out among most Decepticons and Insecticons. She is a fair mix of wine red and magenta, which can be considered her main armor colors with the under armor being mostly slate gray from her face, neck, top part of the shoulders, front part of the abdomen, arms, legs, and clawed fingers while she has white on the sides of her abdomen and outer thighs. Over many areas of her armor, Glowstrike also has glowing yellow bio-lights, especially bio-light panels visible on the underside of the armor that seems to form a skirt on her bottom half and glowing golden optics.
Personality: If the Queen of Hearts were ever to become a reality, Glowstrike is as close as you'll ever get to it. She is a Decepticon who cares herself with pride and gives off an air of power and sophistication. She always walks with purpose and holds her head high, seeming to always show a readiness to face anything that may come her way, whether it is good or bad. They way she moved and walks speaks of a born leader and someone who commands respect. In fact, she gives off an air of pride, grace, and power that could almost rival Megatron himself and is not above using diplomacy if it means furthering her goals or those of her allies.
She is a femme of many experiences and holds an unusual calmness about it, something not often seen with Decepticons at times. Glowstrike's calmness however is better described as cold aloofness, one of which she often treats those she views well beneath her station and notice. She holds those who work for or with her to a very high standard, one of which she holds herself to as well. She is always concerned in running things to the letter, strictly and efficiently as possible. Everyone has to pull their weight and do their part, even if she herself prefers to delegate jobs to others beneath her but she isn't above getting her hands dirty when necessary.
But, Glowstrike does show an exceptional temper, made worse by the lack of patience she has for those who grovel, become traitor, or prove lazy. She hates idleness and feels everyone should be doing something to contribute to the cause and goals set forth by Megatron and other superiors. She is not exactly tyrannical nor much of a schemer, but prefers to use tactics available to her and is not above using threats, which she will dish out without hesitation. She is a femme who is capable of independence and tactical thought but is just as cruel, sadistic, and punishing as any Decepticon, only ever giving her underlings or lesser ranked individuals a single chance.
Strengths:
Small Stature (Robot Mode): Unlike most Insecticons, Glowstrike has a smaller and more slender frame that gives her greater dexterity, flexibility, and agility than most of her kind. This gives her some advantage to outmaneuver larger foes and makes her more acrobatic and adaptable to different environments, especially enclosed places.
Heavily Armored (Insect Mode): In her insect mode, Glowstrike is still smaller but she shares the bulky state most insecticons have. This gifts her with thicker, stronger armor in this form in which she can use to ram into opponents and take more punishment in this state than in her robot mode. This also allows her to do more damage with the use of the horn on her head to serve as a stabbing attack.
Flight (Insect Mode): In her insect mode, Glowstrike has an advantage of using flight thanks to her translucent wings. This is one thing she does share as well with many of her Insecticon brethren, allowing her to get around faster and being fairly maneuverable in the air although not to the extent she is on land in robot mode. But she can build up considerable speed and is capable of following cars going roughly 50-60 mph.
Close Quarters Specialist: To make up for her lack of weapons, Glowstrike has become well-versed in many types of physical combat tactics, from hand-to-hand combat to several Cybertronian martial arts. She is exceptionally skilled in hit-and-run techniques, Crystalocution, and using the strength of one's opponent against them. Coupled with her speed and dexterity in robot mode, Glowstrike is a formidable opponent when it comes to physical confrontation.
Tactical Mind: Glowstrike also has shown herself more than capable of thinking of strategies and organizing large forces. She is well adept in considering the situation and what she will have to work with to work towards a goal, showing many times she is more than capable of handling matters that require improvising resources, working with large numbers, or making risky, diplomatic decisions on allies. This has been best seen with her running a previously successful crime syndicate on Cybertron and running a tight ship on the other broken half of the Alchemor.
Individuality: Though many Insecticons are connected by a hive mind mentality, Glowstrike is one of the handful of these species of Cybertronian who is fully sentient and without the need for it. In fact, she has devoid herself of this mentality entirely to allow herself to operate without the need of a hive and to choose how she runs things and who she commands of her own free will through the show of power and assertive attitude.
Weaknesses:
Small Stature: Though an advantage, Glowstrike's smaller frame also puts her at greater risk of damage than most Insecticons. She cannot take as much damage or punishment due to the thinner and lighter armor making up her form, making her at risk with stronger foes and heavy artillery.
Flight (Insect Mode): Glowstrike is inferior in flight compared to most flying Cybertronians. The most obvious ones are the fact her form is still bulky and heavy, limiting speed and some mobility and the fact she is not meant to be built like fliers such as Vosians. Her wings are also particularly vulnerable as the loss of just one could ground her and their thinner structure make them especially easy to damage.
Combat Preference: Glowstrike has preferences for how she fights, favoring close quarters over having several weapons on her person. This makes her somewhat vulnerable from a distance and she is not devoid of still being matched in speed or pure brute strength. Due to her being able to alter the power and potency of her energy projectiles she feels no need to have other distance weapons.
Impatience: Unfortunately, despite Glowstrike being calm she does grow impatient easily and is highly intolerant of those who come off as lazy and unable to do their part. This can be used against her as trying her patience will lead her to engage the enemy herself when she much prefers not to.
Lack of Weapons: As stated above, Glowstrike has seen a great lack of needing to have several weapons or any other besides her energy projectiles, Flash Bomb, or her particular talents in close quarters. This can leave her rather limited and having to make due with what she has in particularly challenging settings.
Lack of a Swarm: With Glowstrike's lack of a connection with a hive mind mentality, she lacks a way of making use of one of her greatest assets as an Insecticon. She cannot mentally control or communicate with her kind nor coordinate properly as they usually might, leaving her to use her usual methods of control and submission of subordinates.
Abilities:
Flash Bomb: Where the typical Cybertronian's bio-lights are just a part of their every day form, Glowstrike's actually have a functional purpose. She has an ability to generate a brilliant flash of light from every golden glowing area on her form aside from her optics, meant to disorient and blind foes. Glowstrike's unique ability serves her in robot and insect mode, serving the purpose of a distraction to escape, slow an opponent, or give allies an advantage. She does have the tactic of also using it to silence others and grab their attention.
Weaponry:
Energy Projectiles: In her palms, Glowstrike has special mini-generators that can gather and concentrate energy towards circular dips in her palms that serve as the central focus to concentrate the energy to. She has complete control over these generators from a command from her neural processor to these generators that draw the energy to a certain point of concentration. These take on deep red coloration and are sphere shaped, from being small as a golf ball to being the size of an average Cybertronian's head.
Mandibles (Insect Mode): Glowstrike's mandibles are a decent size and sharp at the tips, being strong enough to puncture armor and leave someone with a painful bite.
Head horn (Insect Mode): Upon her head, Glowstrike has a single horn that is smaller than a normal Insecticon's but long enough to puncture armor or other things. She does this through using her full speed in insect mode and its bulkier state to ram into the target allowing her to stab them or knock them back.
History: There is little known about Glowstrike's origins, save for the fact that she is an Insecticon who rose above their usual primal, feral instinct or limited intelligence. Whether she did this naturally like some or was an experiment proven successful is not known, only that she has more than made her mark on the Cybertronian underground during the war. Seemingly inspired by the mindset of a hive, Glowstrike began organizing neutrals and Decepticons into her fold to form her own crime syndicate, a considerably large one at that. She even went as far as to make some deals with a few carefully chosen Autobots as well who would turn a blind eye to her work.
Glowstrike for many years carved quite the reputation for herself, expanding her organization to rival others, even integrating some into her own through sheer force or manipulation, sometimes both. She had her claws in a little bit of everything in the underground, but she often organized with a tight circle and ever alert of traitors of which she dealt with swiftly. This came crashing down however when Cybertron began to fall apart, her syndicate with it.
Her earnings nearly wiped out and her organization fractured, she was forced to take a greater involvement in the war up until the Exodus. By then, she had been captured by what remained of the Elite Guard on Cybertron from an ambush and was placed on the Alchemor prison ship for her crimes. She would remain here for years up until the ship was brought down, broken into two pieces and winding up in the largest part that crashed on an island. The violent crash broke her stasis pod and presenting her with a chaotic scene of prisoners trying to violently figure out how to escape, what happened, and asserting power.
But, Glowstrike quickly set the record straight, asserting her own dominance through force, threat, and powerful presence. Once this was done, she began to properly organize the Decepticons into an organized, formidable force in which she could command, picking two others to form a triumvirate of herself, Saberhorn, and Scorponok, the only other two she found fitting to a leader role. Thus, for several months she has been working alongside her two fellow leaders to repair their half of the ship, sending out small teams of their ragtag armada to get necessary materials and resources to make a functional ship to leave the back water planet.
That is, she has been trying to. Noticing far more interference than expected, Glowstrike has recently left Scorponok and Saberhorn to run the place in her stead, deciding to venture from Decepticon Island personally to see exactly what is going on outside its walls.
