Rodimus was excited to say the least. His first mission with the Earth Autobot team where he was in charge! It was a happy change from the last Energon mission he'd gone on. Actually the last two. Both of them were failed, and one had resulted in a myriad of injuries. It wasn't something he was going to let affect him this time around, however.
Rallying his team together had been pretty easy, and he looked forward to working together with them. The only member he was truly familiar with was Hot Shot, but he was looking forward to seeing the way the rest of them worked.
"Alright team, let's make this a good one! The Energon we have is dwindling, and we could really use the extra supplies. Main points? Don't get hurt. We can't afford a bunch of injuries. Stand your ground, but be smart about it."
After what had happened last time, the young Wrecker was more than ready to prove that he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. He still felt horrible even now that Rodimus had been hurt because of him, but even Rodimus didn't seem to hate him for it. The guy had let him on his team once more, and that alone was enough to make Hot Shot happy. There was one other mech he wanted to see if he could get on the elder mech's team, and that was his newer friend Stepper. The guy really needed to get out some, and how better than to help the one mech he looked up to? Stepper hadn't had the chance to meet him yet, but Hot Shot knew he simply had to meet Rodimus!
"Promise I'll be careful this time. I mean it."
The littlest Wrecker had no intention of screwing this up.. again.
Stepper himself tapped his digits together. Important mission? Yeah, he probably needed to get in on this. He didn't want to feel like a liability after the last time something major came up and he blew it big-time. He was still feeling like a huge liability to the team. But hey, this time he was a huge liability with a sniper rifle!
"I-I'll be careful too, sir, Rodimus, sir!"
Aaaaaaaaaaaand he was sure he had blown it like what the humans called a stick of dynamite. Well, at least botching the social part of the mission. No "nat-20", whatever the humans meant by that, at all.
But then again, who could hope to match a bot with flames on his chest and a smile that could make even the most socially and physically ungainly bots feel at ease. So what if he could barely pick off others with a sniper rifle?
Stormgear didn't expect to be ushered onto an energon excavation mission. Stormgear had been fine working on her sniper rifle's scope view when she'd been called to fill an empty seat on this mission. Stormgear wasn't exactly a liability, but she hadn't expected to be backup material.
A very subtle expression covered Stormgear's faceplate, her optics scanning her party members from behind her visor. She wasn't familiar with most of the autobots, besides Stepper. Stormgear recalled his feeble acts when they were captured by that annoying dog Steeljaw. However, despite his insecure nature, she still felt bad for him getting smoked by Breakdown's hammer.
The leader of the group didn't ring any bells by name, but Stormgear felt like she had seen his face in her father's stories. She couldn't help but compare the mech's fiery red and orange paintjob to his darting personality. The little femme hoped that his excited nature wouldn't drag the group down.
Stormgear locked her gaze on Rodimus as he talked. Stormgear's optic ridges couldnt help but scrunch in confusion. What kind of strategy was defensive seizing? While Stormgear wasn't an advocate for violence herself, she couldnt help but question this mech's thinkings. If the group leader wanted to take the mine, going in and taking it head on was the only option. She kept her intake shut for her own good, why would he care what a youngling thought.
Instead of talking, Stormgear quietly agreed with a nod. But her gaze only screamed disapproval.
Windblade's optics scanned over the team that was intended to raid an energon mine, something they drastically needed. Like them, she was not familiar with anyone save for Rodimus due to them being teammates back in Crown City, but even then they were mainly acquaintances. To say the least it felt odd working with strangers as ever, knowing she hadn't gotten too familiar with anyone since coming from stasis and often due to traveling around the world so often. Maybe just another thing that set her apart aside from not being from Cybertron originally.
"I wouldn't mind giving some Cons some turbulence." Windblade remarked with equal enthusiasm, her turbines spinning in response for a moment before becoming motionless once more. She had checked her weapons before coming to gather with the team and felt more than ready to take on some Decepticons if it occurred. After all this was why she was on Earth to begin with surely.
Admittedly, she sometimes felt bad none of the other bots had her lack of concern for consuming less energon or needing less of it for longer intervals. Caminus already had a short energy issue and they had to learn to compensate for it as a result. Of course, that did come with some differences in their sparks and energon as well. For now though, she put such thoughts aside as she gave her wings an excited flick, more than ready to get this mission on the road.
Megatron had already assembled a group to embark on this mission, and all at the fault of one Rodimus. While he still didn't know who the mech was, he now knew that there was a team that was going to be questing for Energon, and was even foolish enough to give the evil warlord himself the coordinates to the mine they would be going to.
If this was a Neutral party, maybe they could work some arrangement. But if it was an Autobot group? Oh.. that's what this team was for. Surely they had to be running low on resources by now, and knowing a potential group of Autobots would be coming here unprepared? That was an opportunity Megatron couldn't pass up. He could deal a huge blow to the Autobots, and potentially doom them all.
"Decepticons, stand down until I give the word. Make yourselves hidden, and do not show yourselves until my word is given."
Knock Out himself wasn't exactly the type who needed to be told twice about getting hidden. It was how he operated on the battlefield. He was about stealth, quick movements, flashy strikes. There was a mine cart, several crystals, and a stalactite nearest to him, all of which would make excellent hiding spots.
However, with how fidgety he was, the stalactite wasn't exactly his best bet. No. It felt like somewhere low to the ground was better. He transformed and tucked himself behind a vehicon-sized mine-cart. His prod would be at his side, resting against him even in vehicle mode.
"In position. No one else get behind the mine cart. You'll blow my cover for sure."
Glowstrike's search for answers had brought some interesting new developments as of late, and she was slowly trying to look into figuring out where these Decepticons were. If what the Autobot she met said was true it could be a game changer for her small little army in the wrecked ship of the Alchemor. But, there was another concern of finding more energon, mainly to keep her troops going and strong, bringing the concern of needing to find a bit more to keep things going for a while longer.
It had taken time but she had found a few promising places that might offer something, one of which she had gone to investigate herself since it seemed to be a growing concern of Autobots ruining their operations. When she had found a way into the mine far from the main entrance she had slipped her way inside to begin her search, her sharply pointed feet stabbing into the rocky ceiling as she moved about, pausing when she heard voices not far off. Curious, was there already a mining operation in progress? She didn't hear drills or the like, but it didn't mean it could be a lead.
But as she neared she heard the all too familiar voice to every Decepticon: Megatron himself. She slowed her pace and quietly worked her way to where the Decepticons were positioned, deciding to settle behind a stalactite big enough to hide her form which wasn't exactly what you'd call built for stealth. But she still peeked around enough to focus her compound optics of her insect mode towards the war lord, patiently waiting to see what was to happen.
Raiza swore that she was getting restless in the Nemesis for some time. She needed action. No, she wanted action! One would have been proven right that she was mad for a reason. Not moody-mad, but "off-her-rocker" mad. The red femme couldn't handle isolated or enclosed spaces, which was the reason for her thrill-seeking to find said-action. It was the pleasure given' off after giving 'bots a good wack, or a slice to fulfill her twisted thirst for "fun". Besides, Knock Out wouldn't have missed her motives, after her many participations in these kinds of scenarios. So, when the great lord himself asked for their assistance, Raiza was eager.
It was for her own good to obey Megatron's orders, so she wouldn't have to be thrown under the "bus-bot"; according to Knock Out, it was really to save both of their arses, if the red femme ever decided to go against the leader's mandatory demands. It was kinda agreed upon between the red half-siblings: to save themselves from Megatron's wrath. As a result, Raiza wasted no time in obeying the command. Using her speed, she dashed towards a few rocks, and propelled herself forward to jump from rock to rock, towards one of the upper levels in the mine. Transforming in vehicle mode, the red femme put herself in reverse to hide in one of the drilled tunnels. Thank Primus, she was smaller than most 'Cons. The sneer in her voice.
Rodimus was unaware that Megatron had brought his team to the mines. He was unaware that Megatron was even against him. As far as Rodimus was even aware, the Decepticon was an ally. The ambush would be utterly successful because of Roddy's uncanny ability to mess literally everything up.
He gave his team the okay to enter the mine. His blaster remained in his subspace. He was laid back, and he had no reason not to be. The mine was silent aside from the occasional dripping of water here an there. "Remember team, stay alert!"
Hot Shot also remained unaware that Megatron and his goons were lurking in the mines. If nothing else he would've expected a group of Vehicons or something. If he had known that Rodimus had gotten in touch with the leader of the Decepticons, not only would he have flipped but likely would have helped avert whatever crisis lie before them.
"Don't worry, I've got my optics peeled."
The littlest Wrecker paid close attention to his surroundings, not just for himself, but for Rodimus and the others as well. Aside from Windblade, it was nice to have others near his age tagging along for this mission. It was strange working as part of a group like this, especially when he'd been used to teams of two for the longest time, but certainly wasn't unwelcome.
"Optics and glasses peeled!" Stepper chirped. His optics were already darting around. He gripped to his rifle in case, holding it close to himself for dear life. It was his lifeline, his boomstick. There were others like this one but it was HIS.
"Um...do we have any mining tools or are we gonna be raiding what's already mined, sir?" It was probably a stupid question, but Stepper had to make sure. He'd never really been on an energon raid before!
Good. His crew had listened and they were going to stand down until the word was given. He had a few surprises ready for Rodimus, but it wasn't just their conversation that had interested him.. but another conversation. One with another potential Decepticon spy.
However, it would all be revealed in due time. Megatron stepped forward, a grin plastered on his faceplates as he spotted the figure of Rodimus in the distance.
"Rodimus. How I have been anticipating your arrival." The Tyrant folded his arms behind his back, staring down at him. "But I am afraid that you and whatever crew you have brought with you won't be leaving with any Energon today."
The chance to accompany his lord on a mission to deal with Autbots had been too good to refuse. The Autobots were their old enemy, and if Megatron himself was going to deal with them, his most loyal would see to it that he had all the aid he could possibly desire. Not that he needed it. Their lord was mighty, after all.
Vos crept in the shadows near his leader, ready to transform and be of use and following his orders to the letter. He was accustomed to this, lurking until necessary in order to surprise an unsuspecting target. If he was possible of salivating, he just might. What a delicious chance this was. A team of Autobots, wandering into a trap, and the rest of them waiting for supplies? His optics narrowed in malicious glee. The only thing that could make this any better was if he had the rest of his fellows here with him. When he returned, he would be sure to tell them of the victory and the mighty blow their lord struck against the Autobots.
