Player Alias: Chris
Character Name: Shane Michael Anderson
Allegiance: Human {Civilian} (Hopefully for now @civilian)
Appearance Description: Shane is a small, lanky fifteen year old boy with brown hair and green eyes. Not the biggest kid by any means, given he only eats when he can get his hand on food. But all the same, Shane is as healthy as any kid in his situation can be. Shane tends to stick to layered clothes that keep his more prominent scars hidden to most people.
Personality:
Underneath a steely and rough exterior, Shane can be described as a friendly and loyal young man. Funny, incredibly smart, and a bit sarcastic, around those he trusts, one would call him a fun person to be around. If not a bit of a daredevil, constantly looking for the next great challenge for him to face, whether it be finding a new way to avoid the cops, or simply low-level trouble making. He is also known for being innately curious of the world around him, and easily impressed.
In order to meet this side of Shane, however, you have to get past the guarded Shane. Before you get to know him, and earn his trust, Shane is a very quiet individual. Though his troublemaker tendencies do still tend to come out - he has learned to let few people in. This side of Shane shows a seriously steely resolve and exterior and can be hard to get through to. But at the same time, the brighter parts of his personality make him worth getting through to.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
STRENGTHS
-Fast Learner: Shane has the ability to learn pretty much anything given time. He is very quick to grasp concepts an ideas.
-Insanely Intelligent: While nowhere near a genius like say, Raf, Shane is still extremely intelligent. Back when he attended school, Shane was a straight-A, model student. This also applies in regards to his abilities as a mechanic, taught to him by his grease monkey mother.
-Resourcefulness: Living on his own for so long has given Shane a resourcefulness like no other. Able to ration and assess situations very well. He's not exactly a "survivalist" but he's still very good.
-Mechanic: Though he hasn't found much use for it recently, his mother taught him mechanics, given she was a "grease monkey". He has a general idea when it comes to the inner workings of cars and motorcycles though in some ways its very basic.
-Escape Artist: What it says on the tin. Shane has evaded authorities for so long now that he has learned how to easily guide out of any situation. It may take him time and strategy, but give him long enough and he's liable to give you the slip.
WEAKNESSES
-Guarded: As a victim of abuse, Shane is hard to gain the trust of. Although a friendly person, and easy to get to know when you get past this. Getting his trust is key, especially for males. Getting him to open up about his emotions is an especially hard task.
-Trauma: Again, as a victim of abuse, Shane is subject to PTSD. Including flashbacks, night terrors, and an aversion to certain actions from others.
-Loneliness: He'd never admit it, but Shane is a very lonely person. As a street kid, his friends are few and far between and "always seem to leave him".
-Physical Strength: As far as physical strength, Shane doesn't have much of it. He knows how to fight - as any street kid likely would. But he is not likely to win many of them given his skinny physique.
-Fear of Confined Spaces/Authority: Both thanks to Bradley. His favorite "punishment" for Shane was to lock him in a closet. Which has lead to a lifelong case of claustrophobia. While Bradley's position as a police officer, someone who is supposed to protect people, has made him weary of anyone who carries a badge.
Abilities:
For the most part, Shane's abilities lie in his mechanic prowess and being good at getting out of any situations. Some would say that he'd give Houdini a run for his money, but Shane is content to use the latter for getting out of trouble. While his abilities as a mechanic, though untested, may eventually show their uses in time.
Weaponry: A pocket knife he carries on him for protection.
History: Shane's life has always been rough. Growing up, he at first only had his mother, Lisa, given his father ran out before he was born. They were a happy family for the most part, though his mom struggled to pay the bills, working as a mechanic at a local shop. But around the time Shane was five, things took a turn for the worse when his mother began dating his stepdad, "Bradley". At first, he seemed to be the perfect man, kind, attentive, with a nice job working as a police officer.
As soon as he married his mom, things turned around. Following an injury on the force, Bradley became increasingly abusive to both Lisa and Shane. In this time, Shane learned to keep his head down and himself quiet - as it was the only thing that kept him safe. But things would not calm down, not entirely anyway. Even as Bradley returned to the force after recovering, he was never the same man he once was.
Shane lived a life of perpetual fear until he was ten, and his mom died. He came home to the crime scene, and what Bradley said was an "accident". He didn't believe his claims that she simply took a bad fall down the stairs - he knew Bradley had finally taken it too far. Now completely alone at his stepdad's mercy, Shane knew he couldn't take it anymore, so he ran away.
And so, for the last five years, Shane has been on the run. Both from social services, and from the stepfather he fears is still after him. It was a very mundane existence, at least until he finally rolled up into Crown City. By then, Shane had been on the run for four years, and while initially he thought it would be like any other city, it was far from it.
Shane has noticed the strange goings on in and outside the city. Probably due to sticking to the streets. He can't tell what it is yet, or why. But the continual, unbeknownst to him, activities of the Autobots and Decepticons have grabbed his attention, and piqued his curiosity. Leading him to make it his mission as he navigates his time in the city to discover just what its unique secrets are.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
(This is from a long time ago, so maybe a bit outdated. But here's one at least)
Chris was having a long day, between looking up colleges, despite it being way too early to logically think about it. On the other hand however, he felt the need to get some searching done. He had the grades, it was money he had to worry about. His parents could afford it through the Government of course, but at the same time he didn't want the Government to pay unless he got into Cambridge. And unless his parents approved of him going to England of all places for College.
That was another huge problem in his opinion, getting them to agree. That was a whole country away, and though he was a Space Bridge away he didn't want them constantly showing up at his college either. That would be bad, and he could only imagine if they didn't, and they still didn't think he should be alone, Bee or Hot Rod would show up. Though Bee less often obviously as he had Sam to protect. Then there was the fact that the war was slowly coming back and he'd be in deep shit if things went as predicted and he started to well show Sam-like tendencies.
"Primus, who would have thought College hunting was going to be this damn hard." He muttered under his breath.
