Player Alias: Liana_Walter
Character Name: Optimus Prime [WFC Universe]
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description: One of the tallest of the land-based Autobots, Optimus Prime is built large and powerful. He tends towards an almost regal baring, and carries himself with confidence and authority. His helm is modeled similarly to a medieval helmet with an open face around his facial features and pointed “horns” at the top. This contains a face guard that he uses during battle. He has long fingers that end in blunted tips and his frame is made up mostly of long legs and a wide torso. His alternate form is a massive Peterbilt semi-truck with red and blue flames decorating the length of the vehicle.
Personality: Optimus is a calm and well mannered mech that always tried to do right by his people. Selfless and courageous, he would sacrifice himself willingly if it meant one of his soldiers survived and has come close to doing so on many different occasions. Every casualty that has occurred weighs heavily on his spark, and he secretly blames himself for not ending the war sooner to save their lives. He doesn't let his soldiers see this side of him, so that they never see him as anything other than their strong and confident leader, though inside he sometimes despairs at the seemingly endless tides of war. Outwardly he's decisive and charismatic, friendly and outgoing. He does his best to make his soldiers see him as one of their own, that even though he outranks them he is not so different than they are.
His unwavering compassion towards other sentient beings is one of his greatest assets, and greatest weakness. He draws strength from this, and fights all the harder to protect the lives around him. This is something that has been used against him numerous times on the battlefield by his enemies. He's also loyal and unwavering in his convictions, and never backs down. He leads with wisdom and no small amount of trust in those that form his core team, and believes that as long as he isn't alone there is always hope for the future, for the end of the war.
Strengths + Weaknesses: Optimus is one of the physically strongest of the Autobots, able to go head to head against Megatron as few others can. He's a competent military leader and is able to project his voice to be heard across a chaotic battlefield so that he can issue orders without being right on top of his soldiers. He's able to adapt to changing conditions, and maintains absolute trust with his command team.
Because of his compassion towards other sentient beings Optimus has been forced into several dangerous situations in an attempt to save an ally or civilian caught in the crossfire of war. He tends to put himself into situations that could have been avoided were he not determined to safe the bot that the Decepticons held prisoner. It is a trait of his that most consider his greatest weakness. Optimus is also prone to privately simmering in his own emotions, choosing not to allow his fellows to see him as anything other than their strong, capable leader. This can lead him to lash out more violently than he wants to, and his lapses in control are legendary on the battlefield.
Abilities:
[*]Competent Battle Commander
[*]Matrix of Leadership
Weaponry:
[*]Duel ion blasters
[*]Duel energon swords
[*]Barrage cannon
[*]Energon Hooks
[*]Star Saber Relic [Sword]
History: Optimus Prime has a past that even himself isn't fully aware of. His earliest memory has him calling himself Orion Pax, a simple data clerk on Cybertron. Quite content with his life he would carry on this way for some time. And then slowly he started hearing and seeing the inequality among his own people. It made him sad and anxious for the future of Cybertron and its people, but what could he do? It took an outspoken gladiator called Megatron to make him take a stand. Megatron called for a change, for their society to be forced into upheaval so that change could occur. Orion chose to take a stand as well, to fight to abolish the oppressive caste system that hindered the freedom of all those that lived on Cybertron. With the system in place, how could they ever be equal? How could things change as long as they held onto the old system? Over their shared cause Megatron and Orion became friends, despite their differing ideals on exactly how to go about seeing their cause made reality. What Orion didn't know was that his instructor, the master archivist Alpha Trion, was one of the Thirteen and knew about a history that he himself had forgotten.
Eventually Orion would discover that he and Megatron didn't have as much in common as they'd believed and their friendship would dissolve. Orion would find himself on the High Council, set to become the next Prime. This splintered his friendship with Megatron once and for all as the other raged jealousy at the soon to be "Optimus Prime".
Eventually the world splintered into two distinctive groups. The Decepticons who wanted to create change by any means necessary, and the Autobots that opposed them. As the war started gathering steam Optimus became a leader both on the field of battle and off it, leading his troops to victory numerous times. Each loss was felt keenly, and each time he would lead them anew with a viciousness to avenge those that had been lost. He eventually claimed the Matrix of Leadership after Megatron poisoned Cybertron with Dark Energon, finally becoming Optimus Prime. He knew there were things he was still missing of his previous life, as Trion had told him, but they were things he felt needed to return in their own time. He had what he needed to lead, and that was all that mattered.
With the Matrix banishing all doubts he had as to his worthiness to lead, Optimus petitioned Alpha Trion to help build a starship - the Ark, so that the Autobots could evacuate the planet until it had recovered from the spread of Dark Energon. And so they left Cybertron, with Megatron at their heels aboard his own ship. The two factions eventually traveled through the only remaining working space bridge, which scattered them across the galaxy.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
The planet was toxic. Megatron had released Dark Energon and it would poison anyone that got into contact with it. Corrupt their energon lines, do things to their processors. He'd seen the effects. They couldn't stay here, it wasn't safe for his soldiers. It wasn't safe for anyone, but he couldn't make Megatron evacuate his Decepticons. His priority was only on those under his command, and it was with a heavy spark that he gave the order. He'd contemplated it the entire time the Ark was being built, wondered if he was doing the right thing, only to witness too many times the effects that staying on their home planet would have. Soldiers dying. Mechs in quarantine. Medical teams pressed beyond capacity and exhausted. It had to stop.
Optimus stood at his command deck and finally made his choice. There was no other logical route to this. “Blaster. Open a comm to the others.” His people. His responsibility as each life was snuffed out due to another day waiting on this planet. They had to get out of here, let the planet heal without them. “Autobots.” He paused, and noted that his command team on deck had gone quiet. Prowl's doorwings had angled out, meaning he was relaying the message even as he listened to it. “Cybertron is no longer safe for us. The corruption of dark energon on the planet has spread too far. Containment has failed.” He vented, feeling his spark weighing heavily as the decision finally left his mouth. “We're leaving Cybertron. The Ark is prepared to leave, everyone is to gather only the essential materials and get themselves aboard. All energon stores are to be checked for corruption before they are brought on board.” His tone changed slightly, his conviction in his words coming through even as he knew there would be protests against this choice. “We will come home again someday. We will rebuild Cybertron the way it should be, where everyone can be equal and war has no further place. I know I ask much of all of you, more than I have any right to ask. But I swear that I will not fail you, and your trust in me will be returned. I will see us home again.”
The comm was cut and he vented loudly, before starting the process of evacuating the Autobot force quietly from Cybertron. Primus willing, they wouldn't have any Decepticon raids while they got offworld.
