Why were words so hard?! The Sparkling femme didn’t know, but she was distracted by the Energon Cube. So yummy! She loved Energon, she almost wanted to ask for more, but decided against it, it wouldn’t be polite to keep asking for more plus she was worried they will run out, that would be bad. She was ready to go talk to Prowl, but again she was distracted by a puzzle this time. It caught her attention, so she began helping him, like a good girl, helping others.
At first she didn’t know what a puzzle was, but as she watched him, placing the pieces down, and noting how the picture seemed to fit, she began copying him. Picking two pieces and when she noted they seemed to connect she did so. She did fail a few times, but she got the hang of it.
She soon whispered to Solaris “maybe we can ask your papa if he can take us to your Bro-ver?” she asked him wondering what he thought about it. She knew Solaris wanted to see his brother, and she was happy to let him do so. She didn’t know why his brother wasn’t here now. She didn’t understand, all she knew was that his brother was somewhere else.
He focused for awhile on the puzzle he'd pulled over for them, feeling at least for the first time in awhile. He knew he was supposed to be around another sparkling all the time. He had a brother that he missed terribly, that he hurt for missing, but having a little femme to play with helped allot. He noted that his Papa seemed much calmer with two of them around too. That was good! Papa was always sad, and Solaris didn't want him to be sad.
Solaris tipped his little head to one side and listened to his new friend. The grin he gave her was brilliant, a reflection of his other creator. "Good idea!" He wiggled and cheered at her thought and moved to stand at the edge of the playpen. "Papa?"
His carrier moved almost sluggishly, and he knew that meant it was close to time to go home. Papa got tired quickly when he'd been working. "Go see Req? Show Volt Req? Cuddle with Req?" His poor papa would feel better too, he just knew it.
The sparkling looked to his new friend. "Wanna go see Req too, yea?" Maybe if they both aimed the power of their cuteness at his carrier they'd get what they wanted.
Volt smiled happily when her new friend thought her idea was good. She figured that if Prowl took them to Req, then it would be fine. No need to worry about them since he would know where they were since he took them there.
The little femme watched as Solaris moved towards his creator, her head tilted slightly when she noticed that he seemed to be moving sluggishly. She knew that she got tired when she played, so he might be tired too. Of course, that would leave him vulnerable.
At Solaris’s turning and asking if she wanted to go see him, she toddled off to join her friend, and her most powerful weapon was fired, joining Solaris’s own. “Yeah! Wanna see Req! please?” she asked him. One Sparkling with their most powerful weapon was possibly devastating, but two? Could he stand that? Two sparklings using their most powerful weapon in their arsenal at him.
Her little hands were placed on the barrier, to hold herself up as she watched to see what Prowl has decided. She continued to smile happily.
Solaris saw his carrier's doorwings droop in defeat and knew they were going to be leaving soon. "He take us." He told Voltwave, grinning widely. "Papa tired, we go see Req then go home to bed." He paused, considering the femme. "Where femme sleep?"
His papa had gotten up by this point and was busily doing whatever silly grown-ups did when they finished their day. It would be a few minutes before they were ready to go, as his papa tended to double then triple check everything before they left. At least they never forgot a toy or favored blanket that way.
Volt smiled when they were successful. It was unfortunate that prowl had to face the cuteness that two Sparklings had to throw at the poor warrior. He did put on a brave attempt at resisting, but that was impossible. Volt smiled seeing the smile on Solaris’s face, feeling great joy knowing that Solaris was very happy he got this chance to see his brother.
It hadn’t occurred to her, that Req, his brother slept in the same place she had slept, so when he asked her where she slept, she didn’t think much of telling her new friend. “Oh, I sleep Meddy bay.” she told him “I no got a room, or um, famiiileee” she admitted to Solaris, as far as she was concerned the one who gave her life was gone and not considered family, he was bad.
Prowl was keeping a scanner lock on the two sparklings while he gathered their things in preparation to head back to his own quarters. Well, first to see his other sparkling and then home. He was sure Ratchet would know what to do with the little femme he'd found himself sidled with, and if not then she'd come home with him tonight and he'd figure things out tommorow. Solaris reminded him far too much of Jazz, always seeming to know somehow when he'd pushed himself to the point of exhaustion and that it was time to head home for the day.
Perhaps it was the lingering link from when he'd been carried, as Requiem also seemed to know when the tactician was at his limit, but he didn't know. It was something to consider at another time, when his processors weren't showing him errors across his vision and two sparklings weren't making cute faces at him to get their way. Once everything was gathered he carefully scooped up each sparkling and tucked them one to each arm and headed out.
Solaris cuddled against his chassis and made a warbling sound that soothed his spark. Prowl could only sigh. "Not even out of your protoform and you already have me well in hand." He got giggled at for his trouble.
It was the femme that drew his attention as she said she slept in the medbay. "Are you sick, little one?" He asked quietly, shifting her some in his arm so that he could look her over and scan her. "Or is that just where your caretaker keeps you for the time being?" Was that too difficult a question for such a young femme? He didn't know.
Voltwave smiled as she snuggled against him, she tried to keep close to Solaris so she can hug him too, but she kept her optics closed so that she didn’t see how high she was. Sometimes a fear of heights really caused problems she could see.
Volt smiled at his words, and as Solaris giggled at him, she just smiled, but her body shook due to silent giggling she was doing. However, at the much older mech’s question, she shook her head “no, I not sick.” she said to the two of them, though it was more to Prowl, then Solaris. Volt snuggled closer to Prowls arms, allowing her body to relax and rest. She trusted that Prowl wouldn’t drop her since he wasn’t a bad guy.
The next question posed to her, had her nodding her head. “Yup, that’s where I sleep or try to sleep sometimes I sleep in places I shouldn’t, like Oppy’s big chair. “ She said to the big guy holding her. In all honesty, The adults would likely prefer that she sleep in the medical bay where a lot of people could keep an eye on her, then out in some unknown location.
Solaris was always keen on hugging. Hugs made the world go round. Well...hugs and energon. He realized his new friend was scared of something, though not what that something was, so cuddling her to help her feel safe was something he could do. Someday, he'd be a big bot like his papa and could do more than hug and cuddle to protect the ones around him. What those 'more things' were he wasn't sure, but he knew there was more he could do that meant more than a good cuddle. When Volt said she wasn't sick, just slept in the medbay that made the little mech next to her happy. Sick sparklings, like Req, couldn't be played with much. They were..uh...fragile. He thought it was that word. Papa used big words sometimes, but he thought it was fragile.
His creator hummed slightly at the answer as well, head canted so that he could listen to them while the spread of his doorwings told Solaris he was calling ahead to tell Blee-zard they were going to visit. The sudden frown that came onto his features made the little one wonder what was wrong, but he didn't seem upset by it so he let it go.
"Volt will like Req, he quiet but fun. He have good ideas, fun ideas. But he sick sparkling, so we has to be gentle. He good cuddle buddy though. Cuddles are always good." He nodded sagely with that advice, hearing his papa snort with amusement as he usually did when that statement was made.
The doors whooshed past, but then...then something happened. His spark hurt suddenly and he started to cry without knowing why he was crying. Papa tried to soothe him, but papa had stopped dead at the edge of Blizzard's space. His papa was always so calm, so steady, that to feel his spark constrict and then his own do the same hurt. He sniffled again.
"I need a security team to the medbay, Blizzard's sector. There...there's been a breech."
He didn't know what a breech was, but it didn't sound good. Papa's tone was even, but he could tell something was wrong. He was being held too tightly, not painfully but tighter than his papa usually held him.
Solaris looked up at his papa, noticing how he was shifting and looking around cautiously. Were they in trouble. He'd backed out of the room, doorwings to the door and he and Volt pressed close. Papa would protect them, he knew this. "Papa? Papa where Req?"
The pain he felt was coming from his papa, he suddenly realized. "Its okay, we'll find him."
That was no answer, though the dread and pain he felt from his papa told him more than he'd wanted to know. Requiem wasn't here.
