Player Alias: Counterklock
Character Name: Wheeljack
Allegiance: Autobots - Wrecker
Appearance Description:
Wheeljack is of a medium build and height, stocky enough to take more than a few blows but also is nimble enough to maneuver in combat. The armor on his chest and limbs is especially thick and durable as is fitting for a Wrecker of his long-time status and rank. He also has many scars -- the most prominent ones being the ones across his face -- earned on the battlefield, and he wears each and every one with pride, a testament to the battles he has survived. His paint scheme is mainly white and black, with red and green accent stripes upon his chest and legs. Just off his ‘shoulder blades’ are two slim doorwings. During battle, Wheeljack puts up a battle-mask to both protect his face as well as shield whatever expressions he might be making from view.
Wheeljack’s alternate mode is that of a modified 2005 Lancia Fenomenon Stratos Concept prototype.
Personality + Character Traits:
A Wrecker through and through, Wheeljack is an incredibly independent individual with much experience on the battlefield as well as in life. He doesn’t often play well with others, and never stays in one place for long, a perpetual wanderer with an itch to always be on the move. Stubborn, strong-willed, and often intransigent, most superiors consider him a loose cannon, and it is no wonder he has serious issues with authority. He is also cocky, with a reckless streak a parsec wide, and often acts before thinking things completely through -- which has landed him into trouble on more than one occasion and has put allies and missions in jeopardy. Insubordination charges are always a step away, for he’s not at all afraid of telling commanding officers where to shove it if he disagrees with them.
Still, once someone has earned his hard-won loyalty, that loyalty will be lifelong. Wheeljack loves his friends and dear ones truly and deeply, and would fiercely defend them to the death if need be and seek vengeance on their behalf if they are wronged for whatever reason. This is part of the reason why he prefers to be alone: his deepest fears are of losing even more of his loved ones or having them be used against him, and by keeping them close to him he feels they are put at risk. As a result, he’s rather emotionally constipated and expressing himself in a meaningful way is incredibly difficult for him as he is afraid to allow himself to get too close. He also sometimes fears what he might become should he lose even more than he already has, giving him all the more reason to isolate himself and try to ‘go it alone’.
Wheeljack, being a former engineer, is a rather intelligent individual who has a knack for unique problem solving. This intelligence is not something that is commonly known, however, and it isn’t unusual for others (especially enemies, though allies are also susceptible to this) to assume due to his Wrecker affiliations that he’s just uneducated brawn, something he exploits to his benefit.
Even with his many shortcomings, he is still ultimately an Autobot, and though he may chafe at being under the authority of another from time to time he is still glad to help out whenever and wherever he can.
Weaponry:
Wheeljack’s main weapons of choice are two twin blades styled similarly to Terran katanas which are wielded with swift and deadly precision. Within his forearms are built-in plasma ion cannons, which also pack a mean punch. By virtue of being a Wrecker, he is also adept at hand-to-hand combat, though his fighting style is much less refined and more wild and unpredictable in execution. Finally, Wheeljack is an expert with explosives, and has many bombs and grenades within his arsenal.
Wheeljack pilots a small ship called The Jackhammer.
History:
Wheeljack’s early history is a bit murky, and few people know of his origins. Before the War, he was an engineer -- albeit cocky and a bit of a wild card -- studying at the university in Polyhex. At the advent of war, he immediately gave up his studies and joined the Autobot Wreckers, an elite squad of only the bravest and strongest bots. All Wreckers shared a tight bond due to the dangerous nature of their exploits, closer than even family, but it could be argued that Wheeljack’s bond with Bulkhead was the strongest. Together with his band of brothers, Wheeljack participated in many covert missions that no one else would accept and did what had to be done to ensure victory. Many of their number fell during the War, which only hardened Wheeljack’s already steely resolve.
Eventually, the Wreckers fell under the command of Ultra Magnus in order to bring them back into the fold of Autobot military operations. Unable to handle the transition and an overbearing totalitarian of a superior officer, Wheeljack ditched and went solo. It wasn’t long before the Exodus came to pass, and the surviving Wreckers ended up scattering across the galaxy along with the rest of their race. Wheeljack spent many, many years on his own during this time, content to travel in his ship The Jackhammer and search for any survivors. It was during his travels that he stumbled across the transmission sent out by Optimus Prime, and found his way to Earth.
