It was a first. Megatron was terribly serious when he had send Predaking to this place. A forest, close to a city and a huge lake. An Autobot activity was detected. Really? They are always in strange place, but why here? They already have a base, so why go out, so far from their home? No matter, the beast was here to shut down them, no matter how and how many they are.
The way to go to Crowncity was very long, but after few hours he was here, above the forest. The fly was great, quiet, and calm like all the time. Autobots don't fly, but humains can. He remembered the day when he was face to a civil airbus. That was very strange! He was out of a cloud and found himself face to the aircraft. He had narrowly avoided! The drivers seemed equally surprised as him. The dragon had rushed to leave. Megatron wanted to avoid being noticed by humans. At least... for the moment.
He finally lands in the forest. He did not like that kind of terrain. The trees were too tight and he had tendency to bump against them. That's what happened. His shoulder hit a tree, causing him to fall. The pine was uprooted, that's why it fell. However it was not normal. The animal looked around, looking suspicious. It was not the only tree to be like this. Others also seemed to have been forcefully uprooted and replanted. It was not natural, and it was very strange. Why do this? The Autobots were respectful of this planet, but he did not understand the interest to tear vegetation for replanting. The truth was that a fight had occurred here. To avoid attracting attention, Autobots had simply replaced the trees. There are a lot of camper here. However Predaking did not know it.
He continued to walk in the forest, inspecting everything. He waited for the night to make a reconnaissance flight. It was at this time only the sunset.
If there was a single time of day Grimlock liked to do his patrols, it was at this time of day. The sun was setting and he had to admit that sunsets were amazing, though.. not nearly as amazing as some of the ones he'd seen back in the day. Either way, it just gave him something to think about while he walked through the forest, looking for escaped Decepticons.
It'd been ironic.. a former Decepticon hunting down other Decepticons, but that had changed. He was officially an Autobot now! Now he finally had the markings to prove it, and he wouldn't have to worry about everyone getting the wrong idea. Though now that he thought about it, now it'd be a bit harder to sneak into the Decepticon ranks and punch their lights out when their guard was down.
The Dinobot hadn't seen anything or anyone yet, as he'd reported six times now. He was certain that they'd likely tuned him out after the fourth, but who was counting? He just thought it'd be nice to check in every thirty minutes or so to report the nothing that he'd found.
It was at that moment that his optics did catch something. Grimlock attempted to hide his non-Dinobot form behind a pair of large trees as he saw what appeared to be an enormous dragon pass through! Well that certainly didn't look like something they'd see on Earth. Maybe it was friendly? Who was to say? He hadn't seen an insignia on it as it passed by, but that didn't mean that it was working for the bad guys. Or maybe it was a neutral who could become a friend of theirs?
Grimlock peeked out, looking to the dragon. "Hey! Over here!" The Dinobot waved, grinning. Please don't attack the nice Dinobot?
The Earth is the only planet that the beast know. So, even if he don't understand everything about it, it's like is home. He already seen many places, from the sky of course. He know that it's not great to go in the sea, the water is to much salty. The desert is hot, but it's not a problem for him. Ice places? At little more a problem. Cold is never great for robots. But the thing that he hate the most is probably the forest like this one. He's too huge do walk peacefully here. There are branches everywhere. Sometimes he broke a few and do not make her very discreet walk. Sometimes they are even trees who crack.
He did not yet have an enemy. Humans do not cruise at this hour in the forest. At least the dragon deduced that. The sun goes down and soon the stars will rise. As he progressed, he began to think. He was always alone on mission. It helped him to think. On the ship there is always someone to come to bother him or fear him and... he was totally free here. Perfect to let is go all you feelings. He liked to be free, but he belonged to the Decepticon cause. Often he thought the fact to leave and never return. But ... There is Moonwing. She need him. Alway. He can't let's her alone on the Nemesis. They are friends!
Suddenly, something did a noise. A humain? A robot? Something else? He was not on guard and it was stupid! He turned his head toward the sound. It was ... a robot waving his arms to call him?
- … ?
The beast raised an eyebrow in his dragon mode, puzzled. He was not sure if this was stupid or unconscious. In both cases it was amazing he's still alive. Predaking looked back. Nothing. He looked again at the stranger. It was a trap? Obviously not apparently. So… strange. He stayed here to look at him, not knowing if he should attack or not. Then he saw the red logo on his shoulder. An Autobot! He had to attack! But ... no he was too confused to see him act like that. What the hell are he doing?
Just as Predaking had been confused by Grimlock, Grimlock had been equally confused by the Predacon. His grin faded a bit, his arm waving at a slower pace until it had stopped all together. Maybe he was just a little shy? Who was to say. All the Dinobot knew was that he wanted to know more about this guy, and maybe get him passed that shy phase that he believed him to be in.
"I, uh.. I said hi."
Pausing a moment more, Grimlock thought to himself. If this guy wasn't coming to him, maybe it would be best if he went over there? Yeah! Then he could introduce himself and everything, maybe shake hands as well. Slowly Grimlock approached, his grin returning. It had been no grin of malicious intent, but rather a friendly one. "The name's Grimlock. What's yours?"
He'd not even noticed that the Predacon had taken notice of his Autobot insignias, and had intended to strike the moment he'd recovered from his confusion.
Grimlock surely didn't know the symbol of Predacons. Poor. After all they were not very numerous. There was him ... and him. Only him. Shockwave wanted to create others, but he had still not done more creatures. Maybe he could not do it anymore? The truth was that one was already very complicated to manage one beast, then more would be a disaster. This is why Predaking noted the appearance of the robot in front of him. He was in robot mode, and he had no wheels or wings. It was weird. Maybe he was just a he “mono-form”? Like the scientist thought about Predaking himself at the start.
This guys continued to be... friendly. What a strange person. The animal was accustomed to the social interaction since one month only. Being "nice" was all new to him. Only he had never thought of being with an Autobot. He cocked his head, watching him approach. So, his name was “Grimlock”. This totally doesn't sound Autobot. It's like… a different word to say “Smash stuff”.
After a moment's hesitation, he turned into his robot mode. He can't speak in beast mode.
- … Mine is Predaking.
Maybe he had already heard of him? The beast looked at him coldly, but it was his usual air. He did not know how to be sympathetic. He looked around. An autobot, alone? It was stupid! Unless if the one before him is very strong. Yet he did not want to attack. He wondered in what he transform. He was too curious! Like a child !
- You… can transform into something? ... You do not seem like the others.
He said, looking at him again. He had a curious look this time.
As Grimlock spoke to this strange beast, he wasn't quite sure what it was that he had expected. Just what would he look like if he transformed? Could he even transform at all? He waited for a moment after giving the mysterious being his name, asking what his name was in return.
And that's when he transformed.
The Dinobot stared in awe as the large Predacon transformed, his appearance ever so imposing and menacing. Perhaps it was all just in his looks and that he was actually a pretty nice guy. Primus knew that many feared Grimlock until they learned he was quite the softie. He listened as the mysterious one addressed himself as Predaking, giving the Dinobot a name in which to call him. "Predaking? I like that name!"
As if he knew how to speak to royalty.
Predaking had definitely been curious about the Dinobot, questioning whether or not he himself had been capable of transformation. The green mech nodded eagerly, grinning all the while. "Uh-huh! Check this out." Without a moment's hesitation, he transformed into his Dinobot form, a large toothy grin planted on his faceplates. "So what do ya think? You like, Predaking?" He turned a little, allowing the Predacon to examine his alt-mode even further. Quite a curious transformation, although if one thought hard enough on it, one could almost mistake Grimlock for a wingless Predacon.
What a surprise! Grimlock was a huge lizard like him! Amazing. Predaking cocked his head, apparently very curious. This guy was probably a predacons like him! It was an amazing new. It was… fabulous. This will make his day! He looked at him, transformed himself to his dragon mode again, and turned around to watch him from anywhere. He seemed very strong! But he had little arms and no wings. His jaw was certainly very powerful and it was not a problem, he thought.
- It is pretty… interesting. So, you are a Predacon too, am I right? Or we are maybe a sort of… cousin?
He said after turned back in robot mode. The appearance of the dinosaur was more recent. Surely a descendant of the glorious beast? The problem was that this guys was an Autobot. The king present himself like a Predacon, but he is with the Decepticon… for now. But the beast remained fascinated.
- And… an Autobot.
He said with a cold air. The were enemies. He need to do not forget it, but Grim still don't know about it. Preda becomes threatening. He narrowed his eyes and waved his crooked fingers. He was ready for an attack. Ready to hunt. Ready for a battle against his nice 'cousin'.
- I am pleased to know you, Grimlock…. But my order are to hunt any Autobot on this planet. I am sorry... Can you understand it?
Just what was a Predacon? He was just going to go with it, but he honestly didn't know what one of these creatures was. In fact, if Predaking listened carefully to his tone of voice, it would have been painfully obvious just how much Grimlock knew about his race.. or little in this particular case.
One thing that he did know was that Predaking pointed out the fact that the Dinobot had been an Autobot, which had only raised Grimlock's curiosity that much further. Did he have something against Autobots or something? Yet the mech didn't seem like he was a Decepticon either. He tilted his helm to the side a bit, lost in thought. "What? Somethin' wrong with me bein' an Autobot? I mean, I used to be a Decepticon, but I'm likin' the Autobot thing better."
Oh.. That's what it was, wasn't it?
As Predaking's demeanor grew colder, Grimlock grin only grew more. "Dunno who this guy is givin' ya orders, but know what? When we're done here, I'm gonna have to meet 'em and give 'em a good punch." The Dinobot threw his helm back, a loud roar erupting from within him.
It seemed that Grimlock wasn't familial with the Predacon term. Too bad. But so he wasn't one ! Predaking, him, wasn't familiar with Dinobots after all. He looked at Grimlock. It was obvious that their abilities were equally powerful. The fight would be fierce. Trees would fall and bits of meta would fly. They would be real beasts. It was the first time the dragon was about to face another “animal”. In his robot mode, he grumbled already.
- What's wrong? … What's wrong?
Grim' didn't know. This was evident! Yet he had been Decepticon before. How could he ...? Whatever. The king got angry quickly. It was his character. Shockwave wanted this to make him fierce... A war machine. A machine to kill. A beast.
- The Autobot are responsible for the death of my fellow in the laboratory of Shockwave and you prevent Megatron to accomplish his mission. You are on our way.
He turned into beast mode, ready to battle. His claws resonate on the floor before he roar. The scream was probably audible over a long range. It was powerful and strident at the same time… (Like here)Very different from Grimlock's one. Not satisfied with his roar, he made a second more powerful than usual. A true one. Moonwing would be proud. Then he looked at his enemy. He had tiny arms. It was almost ridiculous.
Oh, it certainly seemed that Predaking here was worked up and wasn't handling this meeting of theirs too well. Grimlock was honest, and he was innocent to the fact that the Predacon simply hated Autobots. He didn't know the reasoning, or at least not that he knew, but enough of a push and it would force him to ask.
Unless Predacon himself chose to do so himself that was.
It seemed that the Autobots were responsible for the deaths of his brethren and that he was out to seek revenge for their sake. The Dinobot huffed, looking Predaking dead in the optics.
"I dunno about Megatron and this mission of his here, but there's only one thing I care about and that's helpin' my friends! And even if some Autobot did kill your friends, don't mean I have. At least.. I don't think I have. May have roughed up a few 'Cons, but that's a good punchin' they deserved."
As the green mech transformed and unleashed his mighty roar, Predaking unleashed a few of his own. Now this had suddenly turned into a match over the strongest roar. Releasing one final roar, he charged straight towards Predaking. This was only going to be solved in battle now, and that was one of Grimlock's specialties. While he may have had such 'tiny' arms, he had a huge head, and an even larger tail.
Once he'd been in close enough range, he flung himself around, swinging his tail towards the mighty Predacon king with great velocity. Grimlock used Tail Whip! Would it be super effective?
