Player Alias:
Shotimus
Character Name:
Ratchet
Allegiance:
Autobot
Appearance Description:
Weighing in at around 12,000 pounds and standing close to 20 feet high, Ratchet is the eldest member of Team Prime by a long shot. Don't go letting his good looks fool you. His primary color scheme shown on his armor plating is red and white, matching with what you'd normally see on the average ambulance. On his arms are symbols representing a lifeline, providing evidence to those who don't know him that he's the medic. A somewhat unknown fact in regards to his appearance is that the red 'eyebrows' on his helm aren't his true eyebrows at all! They are in fact hidden directly under the gap between his optics and the rim of his helmet.
Transforming into his vehicle mode, he turns into the ambulance you'd expect him to be. Inside, he looks just like a regular car and can seat a couple of humans in the front. He can, if sized appropriately, fit a smaller Cybertronian in the back, transformed or in robot mode.
Personality:
Being the oldest Autobot on the team doesn't come without it's usual perks. Ratchet's lived through a lot, and while it's made him wiser.. it's also made him quite the grump. Losing Cybertron left a large impact on him, and it would cause him to do most anything to get it back if given the option. Well, save for becoming a Decepticon, but he would work with them if blackmailed into it. On multiple occasions, he has even lashed out at Optimus for the fall of Cybertron and even for not taking out Megatron when he had chances to. Granted, one of those times he had been blinded by the effects of the Synth En he'd been working on. It's also wise not to let yourself be injured unnecessarily with him around. While Ratchet will fix you up, he'll more than likely chew you out for being careless. Also don't break his things. He doesn't take well to that, either.
Even though this medic may be impatient and grouchy at times, he's been shown to be one of the most loyal and caring mechs out there. If at any point one of his comrades are at risk of being harmed, he will quickly try to prevent any further damage either by transporting them himself or by groundbridging them out of the area. Cybertronian or human, he'll do his best to make sure everyone makes it out alive and safely.
Weaponry:
Ratchet isn't one to fight on the battlefield being the medic, but that doesn't mean he isn't prepared to fight when he needs to. Along with weaponizing some of his own medical tools such as wrenches and welding torches, Ratchet is equipped with your standard blaster. Given the right incentive, he is capable of hand-to-hand combat despite his age.
Strengths + Flaws:
Ratchet's first and foremost strength is his skills as a medic, both on the field and in a laboratory. His advanced skill set has proven to be a great asset to the Autobot cause, allowing him to repair what the average medic could not. He isn't opposed to teaching others who wish to learn, and will even teach basic first aid just to have an extra hand for the little things. With built in tools, Ratchet can easily take his work on the go, and preform quickly when needed even during the heat of battle.
Along with his medical expertise, Ratchet has also proven himself in the scientific field. With just an unstable chemical equation, he was able to create a somewhat stable version of synthetic energon. This synth en as he would call it would later be finished with the help of a Decepticon, allowing Cybertron to be fully reborn. He is also capable of working with materials he's not familiar with, so long as he learns enough about them in order to not cause harm with it.
In battle, Ratchet might not be the strongest fighter, but he is fully capable of weaponizing his own medical equipment. Normally, he'll sit out and man the groundbridge, but when he comes in, you better watch out. Welding kits, hammers, you name it. He will find some way of taking out Decepticons with the limited resources he's got.
While Ratchet is one of the best medics you'll ever find, there are things that are even beyond his skill sets. One example would be Bumblebee himself. While Ratchet can fix many things, he was never able to fully repair the young scout's vocal processor after it had been crushed by Megatron himself. It's one of his many regrets, but even still he looked for a way. He just never would've guessed he'd already been on the way to doing it. Another thing he lacks in his medical skills is the ability to help any lifeform that isn't Cybertronian. He would need to study up on their medicines and body structures just to be able to help in any way.
Another issue Ratchet has is letting go of his regrets. They tend to linger on inside him, and never truly resolve. Just as he laments over not being able to help Bumblebee, he also cannot let go of the loss of Cybertron. Sometimes these regrets get the better of him, causing him to do things that he really shouldn't. But if anything, he always means well.
Ratchet's also known for being quite the grump at times, giving others an attitude based on things said, judgments, and even injuries one may sustain. As the doctor, it's best to follow doctor's orders, otherwise you might be getting an earful later.. or a wrench to the head if you make him angry enough.
History:
Hailing from Iacon, Ratchet became friends with Orion Pax long before the later would become a Prime. He served for the Autobot's, eventually becoming a medic and making his name in the stalemate of Praxus. Not long before their departure, he tended to the wounds of a younger scout named Bumblebee, who had been captured by Megatron during the battle at Tyger Pax. While the younger mech recovered, Ratchet had been unable to repair the damage done to his vocal processor. Before too long.. Megatron's greed got the best of them, and Cybertron had been lost as a result. Unable to sustain life, and to produce new life, Ratchet and the rest of the Autobots were forced to leave. Along with Optimus, he made his way to Earth, and started to live as robots in disguise.
Soon enough, others would join them, including Bumblebee, Arcee, Cliffjumper, and Bulkhead. At an unknown point of time, they would meet up with Agent Fowler, who had worked for the Earth government. Ratchet modified his jet so that the agent would be able to fly freely without the need of a flight suit, and the man in turn would become their guide to the outside world in a way.
..Until one day, three Earth children had been mixed up in the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons at the cost of Cliffjumper's life. Without much choice, they were forced to reveal their identities to the children, Rafael, Jack, and Miko. While Bulkhead, Bumblebee, and Arcee became their guardians, Ratchet didn't take as well to the idea of humans being around as much. However, despite his protests, he wound up having to stay at the base with the human children as Megatron had managed to turn Cliffjumper's lifeless shell into a zombie of sorts. When the Autobots returned from the battle, no red mech with them (alive or otherwise), Ratchet began to inspect Arcee as she'd been weakened from the battle. Discovering a substance that had infected her, he came to the conclusion that Megatron had somehow gotten his hands on what was commonly referred to as Dark Energon, otherwise known as the Blood of Unicron. Again, he sent Optimus and the others off when the Decepticon leader attempted to build a space bridge in order to raise the dead on their homeworld in order to destroy them once and for all. The mission a success, Megatron had been removed from the battle. Together they celebrated, believing the Decepticon warlord had fallen once and for all.
