Characters:Sari Sumdac, Open to all Location: The Woods Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Feeling adventurous, Sari goes exploring in the woods. What will she find, and will it be friendly?
It was always nice to get away from Sumdac Tower, even if just for a little bit, but this was the farthest that Sari had gone from home. She was bored with the same old scenery and wanted to see what else was out there. Luckily, if anything, her father didn't have to worry about his daughter getting horribly lost out in the woods. He'd built that jetpack for her, and she could just use it to fly above the trees and find her way back to Crown City.
Crown City.. It was so strange. There were days where she could swear that wasn't the name of the city she lived in, but that's what all the signs said, as well as everyone else where her father worked. She'd shrugged it off, chalking it up to staying up late to watch movies and then be stuck with tutor bot the next morning.
The teenager had flown to the woods using her jetpack, but decided to walk the rest of the way once she arrived. Honestly, she wasn't sure what she expected to find out here, but she enjoyed the quiet. Just some birds, a few other critters running around. Sari smiled at the sight of them, continuing on her way through the woods. "It's so quiet out here."
She kept hiking for a good ways before stopping to rest by a large tree. "Aaaand I'm bored."
Meanwhile, for Russell Clay, it was a beautiful day outside. Birds were singing, flowers were blooming. On days like this, kids like him...should be out of the scrapyard having fun while the Autobots were doing whatever Autobots do. And honestly, getting out of the scrapyard once in a while was a great way to not have a bad time.
And while he was playing out there, some things just had the luck of bouncing around away from the pre-teen boy. Like his football, that he'd found tucked away in the scrapyard. Where the hell had his dad gotten that anyway?
Said football had bounced a little further in than he expected. Once he picked up the ball, he could have sworn he saw something moving. Or someone. "...is someone here?" Not like he knew that Sari had been hiking, right?
It was a slow day in the scrapyard. No Decepticons inmates had made themselves known, and so everyone had a lot of free time on their hands. Bumblebee didn’t really know what to do with it. He was used to being, as the humans put it, a busy bee. There was always something that needed doing, and he was always eager to do it. Just sitting around waiting for something to happen seemed odd. Not that he didn’t enjoy having down time, but even his down time was packed with looking after his raucous teammates and human wards. Speaking of which…
Bumblebee looked around, searching for Russell. Denny hadn’t realised that his son was missing yet, and he probably wouldn’t until someone pointed it out. Bumblebee would rather solve the situation before it got to that, which was why he had headed off into the woods to look for the young human.
The forest was quiet around Bumblebee. A constant murmur of whispering leaves and chirping animals surrounded him, but that was it. His sensors eventually picked up a familiar heat signature—Russell. Bumblebee headed that way, smiling as he saw the boy picking up his football.
He took a step closer, trying to put on a stern face as he prepared to lecture the boy on wandering off. Then his sensors alerted him of another presence. It was neither cybertronian nor organic, and the signal was weak and distorted.
His optics scanned the trees, spotting the other person his sensors had picked up. A human? Or at least what seemed to be a human. Scrap, he couldn’t be spotted. He flattened his doorwings and crouched, trying to hide behind a bush.
Sari sat down by the tree, staring into the wilderness as her boredom only grew. She stayed that way for a brief moment, only to jump back to her feet at the sound of another's voice. Sari wasn't alone out here, and while she wasn't afraid of who might be with her, she was more than prepared to defend herself if need be.
Luckily, the voice was young, and was likely just some kid wondering the woods too. Kinda like she was.
"Hello?"
She moved from behind the tree, coming into view of the boy. Strange.. she could have sworn she'd seen something move by that bush, but it could have easily just been a trick of the light.. making it appear that something was rustling in the shrubbery. Huh.. The teenager blinked, shaking her head quickly to rid herself of those thoughts. She began to approach Russell, smiling softly.
"I'm Sari. What's a little kid like you doing out here in the woods alone?"
Like she was one to talk? Then again.. she was a teenager.
Sv19 wasn't ever much for meditation, and not much for nature walks either. Still, since he was off some dry and usually fruitless patrolling shifts, he could at long last stretch in the cover of the forest. It was a perfect area to tread, and not be crammed into some kind of box-with-wheels while in the city, in disguise. Watching humans could prove boring after the first few hours. Sometimes something exciting would occur, like a kid getting his undergarments stretched to their limits above the unfortunate child's head by a larger amateur human. Bullying was still rather dull though, and though it was worth glancing at, it was a poor excuse for entertainment.
Not that he required any--it was just patrolling was a dull job for someone who was designed for black-ops missions. Perhaps the vehicon manager in charge had gotten Sv-19 mixed up with a mop-up crew bot. it was something worth hoping for anyways. That someday, somehow, he'd run into an evident that he could apply his skills to. All this thinking whilst mindlessly wandering through the forest lead the vehicon right towards a pair of two talking humans. He only just registered their existence when he was fifteen meters away--there was plenty of time to dive for cover, but for once, he decided to see if these two were capable of conversation. Listening in on their first words, Sv-19 could tell they were wanderers themselves. The vehicon trundled forth, now in plain daylight right before the two.
"Greetings, humans." He said softly. Sv-19 never noticed his arm automatically grab a ten foot long claymore, unsheathing it, before his appendage, as if it had a mind of it's own, proceeded to sharpen it on his arm. His expressionless mask stared down at the two humans, his red visor glowing hollowly~
Russell was starting to get a little more nervous now. He clutched his football to his chest, still looking around. Who was there? That couldn't be good, couldn't be good that he couldn't see who was there. And they weren't answering.
So when Bumblebee himself had shown up, or at least spoke up, he screamed for a moment. It wasn't anger or even fear. He'd just been startled and of course he would be screaming when he was startled, right? When he realized it was Bumblebee, however, he started backing towards the bushy area he could hear Bumblebee speaking.
"Bee...don't scare me like that." He whispered, nerves getting the better of him. He then looked up to the teenage girl that had just showed herself. "I was trying to get my football, that's what. It's kind of the only one I have, and dad would probably be a little mad if something he got me turned up missing." At least, that was his excuse. He also didn't like being cooped up among the scrap all the time.
He tensed when he could hear another voice rise up. No, not just another voice. An unfamiliar bot with an ominous red visor. And the way it called them humans was just plain unsettling. The tone about it was strange. It wasn't like a question. It was like this one knew what they were without asking, unlike Bee's team, who had needed to get used to the presence of a human.
He seemed to back closer to Bumblebee in case. "Um...Sari was it? Might wanna c'mere..."
Bumblebee sprang out from behind the bush the moment he spotted the Decepticon. The reaction, hardwired into his systems, was enhanced by the bot’s automatic deployment of his weapons. That was bad news for everyone, but especially for the young humans in the area. Bumblebee didn’t hesitate, dropping into a defensive crouch and fanning his doorwings.
How could he have not picked up the Vehicon’s signature? Bumblebee berated himself. He had been so focused on trying to decipher the strange reading of the person talking to Russell that he had lost awareness of his surroundings. And he called himself Prime’s Scout! Optimus would be disappointed in him.
Transforming his hands into blasters, he better placed himself between the Decepticon soldier and the two humans. Russell stood farthest from danger, but the girl—Bumblebee could see her now, a teenage female with olive skin and bright red hair—was only a few feet behind him, though the tree near her provided her some more cover. He shot at the Vehicon’s feet, dirt and grass kicking up with the blasts. The warning was clear.
“Russell, hide! Both of you!” he told the children.
Bumblebee wanted nothing more but for them to run back to the scrapyard, but he didn’t know if there were more Vehicons in the area. What if they caught the children as they tried to escape? Bumblebee would rather have them where he could protect them. He aimed at the Decepticon, ready to take another shot, this time at the soldier’s chest. If he so much as moved closer, Bumblebee would fire.
As Russell seemed to whisper to a nearby bush, or perhaps something behind it, Sari placed a hand on her hip and let an eyebrow raise, her head tilting in the process. This was one really weird kid, and that was ironic coming from her own line of thought. All the kids thought that she was the weird one!
"Umm.. Do you always talk to yourself like that?"
Either way, it seemed that the boy here was just grabbing his football when the two of them encountered in this place. What a strange place to be playing a game like that. Wasn't that something best suited to open fields? Or maybe he was out here playing some extreme version of the sport that she'd never heard of. Shrugging her thoughts aside, she smiled softly. "Wait a minute, you mean you're playing with your dad's only football? I think my dad would kill me if I lost something important of his, too."
But alas, their time alone together like this was shortened when some being of unknown origin. It spoke to the two of them, staring at them as it reached for some sort of weapon. All the teenager could do was stare at it wide-eyed before unleashing a loud shriek. Russell's call to her hadn't snapped her out of it, but the newer voice certainly did.
Russell. Now she knew what the boy's name was, but who was this new person telling them to go hide? With a bewildered nod towards the yellow robot, she trailed behind Russell and took up a hiding spot. She did maneuver herself into a position where she could safely watch as the yellow one took aim at the more threatening one.
"Cool~! Just what are these guys?" If only she knew that she had relations to their race.
Any short amount of amusement at the humans fearful gazes at him were cut short as an Autobot dived out of the bushed, firing his lasers threateningly at the ground.
Autobot. Initiate termination protocols.
An ambush! Sev swiped his blade in a quick arch, before wheeling it around in a flash of a figure 8, the claymore pointed at the ground. it was the small maneuvers he made as his body hunched downward, ready to pounce upon this Autobot and challenge the mech for what he was. The vehicon's red visor gleamed a shade brighter, as if in half a thrill, and half a challenge to the Autobot before him. Sevs other servo itched for his other blade. It had been a while since he'd tried to kill an Autobot, and this one didn't look like a bad target. The sunlight caught on Sevs visor as he seized up the mechs body build: He was considerably bough, though it seems to be an exaggerated scout chassis. Thick shoulder armor and lower leg armor was where the likeliest to be the hardest to pierce. His claymore could do that job just fine.
Sev noticed that he was clutching the blade in his right arm, while his left rested clenched to the side, ready for further use. His enemy was likely looking over him. Sev doubted that the mech would give too much thought to him. Sev was a vehicon after all. Excitement ran through Sev's veins, perhaps if he defeated this opponent, he could show all those annoying veteran vehicons what a rookie vehicon really could do, and he wouldn't be assigned all these ridiculous amounts of patrols, and all the annoying work loads of cleaning parts. Maintenance duty sucked for the black ops soldier.
Circling around the lot, Sev found his visor resting on the humans faces. One human looked a little thrilled. The other was wary of him, clutching that so desired 'football' to his chest. Any idiot with a knife knew that the humans were civilians, and didn't have any involvement in the war. Sev fixed his optics on them for a dangerously long time, slowly taking a step back from them. "Alright Autobot. If you're going to fight, then have the decency to tell the humans to back up. I have orders to be killing Autobots, not organics." He said, his visor slowly turning to the Autobot, looking into those blue optics cautiously. Sev felt that unless those humans started to actually fight him, he wouldn't fight back. Sev continued circling around the three, one step at a time. He secretly wondered if there were more Autobots in the area. It would be more of a thrill if there were, that was for sure. Sv19 was careful where he stepped, absorbing what dimensions his mind could create of the Autobot. The more he knew about his opponent the better.
