Characters: See Below Location: Autobot Outpost Omega-1 Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: With many Iacon Relics safely in Autobot custody, Team Prime and Team Bee meet up to determine what they are and what they do, and discuss what should be done with them.
Until further notice, the following posting order will be observed:
A gathering was held to determine the logistics of their collective Iacon relics. A Prime stood next to a large table with some of the items on it while examining a data pad that he had used to figure out the best course of action to do with all these artifacts. Some of which were very dangerous and he felt that they would need to be securely locked up while others he can readily entrust with his Autobots. The first of the items that was on his list of locking into a secure vault was the Spark Extractor.
"Autobots, I am proud of the work you have done. Most of these items would have been catastrophic in the hands of Megatron."
His optics fell upon the Apex Armor and Resonance Blaster, both of which he felt would be of great value to the Autobots... Though who to assign their owners? Having Ratchet possess the Resonance Blaster would provide a nice pacifying tool for his medic. For the Apex Armor, his optics fell upon Pharma, whom he had not personally interacted with. Maybe the armor was something that suited this Bot a lot more than anything?
"The Quill and the Triptych Mask are of questioning ends for me... Both hold powers that are not fully understood and in such caution is employable." His weight shifted to one leg while reading his data pad on possible vault locations before he gazed at those around him. Those two artifacts held a greater power and yet he felt that they shouldn't be known or dangerous shenanigans would take place. "Your opinions are all valued and if you feel one item should hold preside of an occupation you are free to speak.
Ultra Magnus still wasn't exactly sure if he agreed that any of the relics should be entrusted in the hands of any of the Autobots. Of course, using them could gain a tactical advantage over the Decepticons, they held a great risk of use, as the effects of them had not yet been tested on the user as well. What if there was kick back that hadn't been gauged yet?
He waited until Optimus finished speaking to voice his concerns. "Sir, we do not yet fully understand the effects of using these relics. What if there are effects on the user that we haven't accounted for?"
His intentions were not to shut the Prime down, necessarily. Simply to bring forth a concern that he hoped the others were feeling as well. "I understand the benefits of using them in the fight against the Decepticons, but we don't know if it's worth the risk of disabling one of our own. These relics are something we've not used before."
It couldn't have pleased Ratchet more that the Autobots had won most of the relics, and that the Decepticons had only gotten away with a select few. To say that it hadn't been a concern to Ratchet that they had even one would be a lie, but the fact that they had this many..? That was the important factor. The Resonance Blaster had been placed on the table in front of Optimus along with the other relics, and Ratchet didn't have any initial intention of keeping it for himself.
He looked to Wheeljack, reminiscing on their escapade in the Amazon in order to get the blaster to begin with. A soft smile formed, and then he looked to Pharma and Strongarm. Ratchet could not have been more proud of the two of them for their successes.
But what to do with the relics..? Optimus wasn't sure, and Ultra Magnus wanted further testing.
“I can say that I have used the Resonance Blaster. I used it to.. fend off Soundwave.” As if he was about to drag Wheeljack's reputation through the mud by saying he saved his life using the artifact they'd searched for. “It produces some sort of sonic vibration that effects whatever it is used on. Just a single blast had Soundwave down, so I can only assume it's quite powerful. I would not be opposed to more testing, but if you want me to hold on to this, Optimus.. I will. I trust your judgment.”
If there was a single relic that the medic couldn't take his optics off of, it was the Spark Extractor. Such a dangerous weapon, and to think that Strongarm had brought it back with Optimus! "However.. I feel that it would be best to lock the Spark Extractor up in a vault. It's too dangerous to chance it getting into Decepticon hands."
It wasn’t often that Wheeljack came (willingly) to a proper meet-n-greet like this one, and it’d been so long since he’d last seen so many bots gathered in one place that he found it even more uncomfortable than he usually would. He would’ve skipped it entirely had it not been for Ratchet -- the medic had asked him nicely, and Wheeljack found it incredibly hard to turn any request of his down. Yeah, he’d gone aft-over-heels for Ratchet. Wheeljack had all but given up trying to delude himself into thinking otherwise, ‘cause it was increasingly obvious that this was not some stupid little schoolbot crush that would fade.
Just because he was delighted to be around Ratchet didn’t mean he was equally enthusiastic about the meeting. There were too many bots here, and it made his protoform itch under his plating. Too many bots, with too many EM fields brushing against his own, and thus Wheeljack was even squirrellier than usual. His discomfort was compounded by the fact that Ultra Magnus had apparently shown up on Earth at some point or another, a fact which displeased him greatly, as he could hardly stand to look at the Duly Appointed Pain In His Aft much less interact with him. Better to stay across the room and out of the way, and with any luck, his ex-commander wouldn’t decide to start reciting what sections of military protocol he had violated or something.
Still, it was good to see that they’d come out on top in the relic race.
“That blaster’s powerful, all right,” The Wrecker chipped in, figuring he’d toss in his own two cents. “I dunno what would happen if a bot was exposed to a continuous blast from it, or what its upper limits are. Testin’ it might be a good idea, but I sure ain’t gonna volunteer to be the guinea pig.” He’d had enough of that on the mission to retrieve the thing -- and he’d only been clipped by the very edge of a blast meant for someone else. He shot a bit of a teasing little grin Ratchet’s way, not wanting the medic to feel guilty.
“-Anyways, what about the other toys?” Wheeljack gave a gruff nod at the rest of the assemblage on the table. “I mean, some of these are pretty straightforward, but the others-” As if to demonstrate his point, he plucked one of the relics off the table: a funny looking concave thing that looked like it might be a mask, if one had three faces to stick into it. He hadn’t the foggiest idea why a mask of all things had gotten mixed up with weapons of mass destruction. “Glad the Iacon Theatre group saw fit to toss this our way. I’m sure it’ll come in handy.”
((Sorry-- I've had a lot of computer troubles over the past couple weeks.)) --- This was the first time he had been back on base in... a while, actually. Probably missed a lot of briefings, but he rarely got comm'ed in for much, and he had no idea what this 'relic' business was about. Still, when Prime said 'come in', you went to his position. 'S the rules.
As soon as he entered the Autobot Base, however, that's when he realized something was off. "Sorry I'm late. Got caught in some traffic, et cetera..." He trailed off, looking at the Autobots present. He would have definitely remembered Ultra Magnus being here, and Wheeljack wouldn't just show up out of the blue without some kind of alert. Still, he could read a room, and this wasn't the room for happy welcomes. After all, Autobots had to handle their business sometime, and it was best not to comment on the situation until he had some idea what was going on.
Last he knew, Ultra Magnus was anywhere but Earth, and Wheeljack didn't like to plant himself down in one place for too long. Didn't think he got along as well with Ratchet either. Maybe they had more history than he thought? This whole situation was making him tense, though. Maybe it was the pile of scrap, or maybe something was off. Whatever it was, he tried to shake off the feeling. It wasn't like he was in a room of strangers.
He stepped away from the Ground Bridge, positioning himself towards the back of the growing crowd of Autobots, scratching a horn before making a quick salute at Ultra Magnus. Sign of respect and all that. "I don't know what that blaster can do either, but the last thing I wan'na be is the guy on the other end. Count me out for testing dummy." He chimed in, optics focusing on the rest of the apparent junk on the table. "Guess I missed more briefings than I thought, I would'a brought something of my own if I knew we were piling up junk."
Arcee had arrived moments before Cliffjumper but didn't bother to interject in the conversation that was already well underway. Instead of putting herself at the center of the much larger mechs, she kept her delicate framed self away from the large brutes who could shove her aside with the side of their pedes. The two wheeler found a safe spot against the wall just to the left of the entrance to the area where she could just be standoffish as usual and lurk just outside of the shadows, staring at the others with her arms crossed in front of her armored chest. From here she was able to read the room and pipe in when the time was needed for her input, which from what she could tell? This wasn't the time. So she would just listen in.
Discussions of the relics was business that needed immediate tending to so she understood the importance of gathering so quickly in order to determine the best route to take with what they had. The table there had every one of them just on display like some sort of trophies. True, they were, but not in the way a human would have one to commemorate a sports accomplishment. No, these were objects of war and...
Why were they even hesitant on using them? Arcee didn't have a problem with hauling them out and testing them. Then again, she usually was the one to do such things as long as there was a Decepticon she could aim the dangerous end towards. They should be rushing out there with new weapons at the ready to try them out on their opponents!
'Down, Arcee. The Commander knows what he's doing. He'll make the best judgement call.' Right. Optimus. Arcee had absolutely no doubt that he would figure this mess out.
While the Commander, Magnus and Ratchet were much more trusting of keeping to the rules of 'don't touch the shiny mysterious relic things', she couldn't help but tense up a little more with Wheeljack and Cliff ( especially Cliff... because Cliff... was that right? Something seemed off, but she would probably just have to get around to that later ) being part of the equation. The others would throw in their ideas on what needed to be done and how it best to handle what they had before them. Cliff's rather unceremonious way of addressing the relics only made her shift from the wall in slight discomfort and started to make her way towards the group.
"I wouldn't be opposed to taking up one of those and testing it on the Cons."
Great conversation starter, right there. 'Hello, 'Cons. Mind if I test this relic on you? No? Oh well. You're a test subject anyway'.
The small femme turned slightly to ease her way past Cliffjumper, giving him a wide enough berth to not touch him in even the slightest and not even offering him a second glance as she moved to stand alongside Magnus. "Though if we're going to stand around here daddling about what's an honorable route to take with these things, can we at least come up with some way of securing them first?" There was that Enforcer side of her. Keep the dangerous tools of destruction and who knows what other horrors locked away and then sit around the dinner table for discussion. "Not only am I concerned for a possible con to break in here and take these from under us, but we do have... misfits... running around here who may mistake them for toys or... 'junk'." She side glanced to Cliff finally and vented some before turning her attention back to the others and slipping one of her servos to her hip. "As Cliff so eloquently stated. At least under lock and key that should give someone the hint that they're of some importance and shouldn't be handled without an adult."
There was a brief pause as she thought of what had previously been stated, then smirked some and looked up to Optimus. "Count me in on testing them, though. I'd love to see if they'd make turning those Cons into scrap any easier."
Pharma himself kept his optics on the Apex Armor, swallowing hard. He then drew a deep vent, looking around. He would try to stay near Ratchet rather than be crowded by a group; the Decepticon Justice Division had made him a little more wary of large crowds but he was expected to keep with the group while they decided what to do with the relics for sure. He would frown lightly. While Ultra Magnus was correct, he couldn't shake the nagging feeling that maybe, just maybe they would need to use them. They couldn't just hide them away forever or the Decepticons would just be trying to break down the base to look for them or worse.
His optics widened and his wings perked lightly when he heard what had happened with Ratchet. Well. He had never expected ANYONE to be able such a powerful weapon without it kicking their aft massively.
"I agree on the Spark Extractor being locked FAR away. We don't want any Decepticons getting it. Not Megatron's main army, and especially not...no. Forget I was about to say that." His optics shuttered tight for a moment. The others would probably pry but he couldn't help it. Some things made him clam up tight.
He then drew a shaky vent before placing his hand near the Apex Armor. "While I have not personally had a chance to test the armor yet, I wish to help test it, and allow others to test it if necessary. We must be able to test the limits of the Apex Armor's actual capacity, yes? So that anyone who needs it can use it if the situation should arrive. And I am willing to be one of the larger subjects to test it." He then looked to some of the others, his gaze falling for a moment on Arcee. "Perhaps even allow our small blue femme comrade here to test it?" His gaze then shifted to Ultra Magnus. "Perhaps even our large comrade here who is even more massive than myself?"
Smokescreen knew that he had to be here for this meeting. While he had missed out on a chance to help gather the Iacon Relics, the Autobots hadn't done a bad job at getting most of them. The Cons had only gotten away with one? Maybe two? Either way, it made the young Elite Guardsmech super happy. He had placed the Phase Shifter onto the table with the other Relics. When and where he had gotten it.. he didn't know, but being the immature young mech he was? Who cared?! He had it, it was his, and he could use it to sneak up on people when he wanted to.
Though that didn't meant that it didn't have it's advantages in battle of course, but who could pass up sneaking up on some deserving mech or femme and scare the ever loving spark out of them?
...Ok maybe that was a bit more jerkish than he first thought.
The white and blue mech watched as other gathered, speaking about the relics that had been obtained and what the best course of action was. He was happy as all heck to see Strongarm here, and was excited as all heck when he had heard that she and Optimus had been the ones to bring back the Spark Extractor. Of course, there had also been others like Ratchet, Wheeljack, Magnus, and Pharma. And then there had also been Cliffjumper and even Arcee! Man, things were moving along now that everyone was showing up.
"Ya know.. I think you guys are right to keep the Spark Extractor locked up somewhere far, far away. I mean.. if the Cons somehow found the base, there'd be so many relics for the picking! Of all of them, that's the last one they need to be getting their grubby hands on."
Smokescreen walked up to the table, looking at the relics that had sat upon it. "Spark Extractor.. Apex Armor.. Resonance Blaster.. the Star Saber.. uhh.." He paused once looking to the mask as Wheeljack picked it up, as well as the quill. How odd.. He knew all about the relics thanks to his time guarding Alpha Trion, but he couldn't for the life of him remember what the heck these two relics were! Uh-oh.
Picking up the Phase Shifter, he tossed it up into the the air and caught it. "But this baby? Lets me walk though walls! Talk about useful, right?"
While Strongarm was still coming down from that amazing gathering of the Spark Extractor. However, she was at attention when she arrived to listen to everyone who was gathered here, which included her adoptive sire Ratchet, adoptive grandsire Pharma, and Smokescreen, who fascinated her. She held her hands together and seemed to dart her glance to whoever would be speaking at the moment.
It was logical to exercise a bit of caution about the Quill and the Triptych Mask, of course. And after even touching the Spark Extractor, she was glad it was locked away. That thing had an ominous feel to it that made her anxious to let anyone touch it.
"I would agree that any further testing would be necessary. I'm willing to volunteer if we need someone to volunteer to test some of the more practical ones like the Requiem Blaster or the Apex Armor. Though...I don't ever want to touch the Spark Extractor again." She seemed to tense thinking about that. Man, it STILL gave her the heebie-jeebies!
She did, however, give a worried look when she saw how her adoptive grandsire reacted. She didn't want to draw attention to it, but she glanced to Ratchet as though questioning if he heard how Pharma had reacted.
She then brightened at Smokescreen's assertation. "Could be useful for infiltrations and swiping things. I just hope you wouldn't get caught by someone and stuck in a wall." Was there a hint of worry in her tone? Of course there was! Maybe she adored Smokescreen--a little. Not to mention that was possible, right?
Pride was held in regards to his fellow Autobots yet he exercised caution at this point, wanting it not to be their downfall. They had managed to get thus far into the war with controlled emotions. Him being one to last so very long in a brutal war. Was it humbleness that kept him from speaking much of his abilities or something else? Ravages of war that tugged on special strings within?
The Resonance Blaster he has heard many a tale of, imagining the cruelties it brought along. Still if managed correctly by Ratchet then those cruelties will not be brought on. As such his deft fingers tacked on his data pad to add new entries. One of which was assigning Ratchet the Blaster along with a few notes of pros and cons. Who should take up the Blaster next in line. Contingencies.
In a near stoic librarian stare he switched a tab on his data pad to examine the reports of the conflicts and encounters. The first entry he came upon was that of Pharma. Written, scanned by Optimus without much of a glance at for electronic filing, and only now being truly read. Those blue optics of his widened a smidgeon, breaking the stoicism of the Prime. Vosian Autobot glyphs hand written and... This is Vosian? Yes, indeed it was. Luckily for him he had quite a few entries in Vosian with footnotes left by the writers themselves. So it wasn't too much of a glitch to process this. An encounter with a femme seeker that was big, something about that sounded familiar. Then again he has grounded a few femme seekers with a few well placed shots. The readings of Pharma's field report just... He tacks a new tab to read Wheeljack's field report. "Please check out Ratchet's Field Report. Too busy with Soundwave."
"Rest assured that the Spark Extractor will be securely locked away within our vaults." This was true yet also false! Vaults? How many were there? How secure were they? Having the Spark Extractor's true location limited to few was best to keep it safe from anyone willing to experiment.
Speaking of experimentation, he jotted a few notes into the Field Report of Wheeljack's(seeing as there was plenty of space left to use) to remind himself later to question him of tackling Soundwave. Surely some information was leaked on such a devious creature of silence. More information will be needed to combat him, via physical and electronically! Ratchet will be questioned as well.
Another tap to his data pad as well as a few hand written notes were placed. Seems he was in a trance from his old position predating the war or even his Primeship. His gaze lifted and those optics scanned the group once more. The Apex Armor will be decided upon while he takes a brief moment to organize his thoughts. Arcee and Cliffjumper were some of his faster units and may need the extra armor when needed. Yet they could easily out maneuver many a foe when the situation arises. Pharma was of course a medic and the Field Report he had... read, lead him to believe that something may be needed to keep the medic around for longer. They may need the extra healing hands. Ultra Magnus was one that his optics rested upon for the briefest time, knowing that his Second in Command can easily defend himself. From small, medium and finally to large, the words of Pharma helped him understand what sort of problems may arise when an unknown armor was set up. "The Apex Armor is of course a defensive mechanism and one of which we will want to explore. Pharma, your suggestions on whom to test fit it sounds reasonable." With that being said he turned to Arcee first, "I would appreciate it if you would test the Apex Armor firstly and for you Ultra Magnus." He turned to the similarly large built mech, "We share the same stature, either you or I could test fit it for future references." All this happened with him completely missing the latest entry to the relics.
Star Saber? He was one to turn to Smokescreen while figuring that the Mask and Quill will best be under lock and key. Yet the Saber itself was a potent weapon that Optimus had come to acquire through unforeseen happenings. With one relic being picked up and... Those broad shoulders of his lifted slightly, half expecting the Phase Shifter itself to activate and fall into the Earth's crust. That is one way to put it under lock and key. "At least it is a device that had the designers hold foresight into keeping your from falling through the floor when activated." There was a slight sense of annoyance when such a "ghostly" object was handled with such care. He has much to learn it seems. Strongarm even voiced her opinion on such a device. Having it be a very useful item to gather intelligence and spy upon the Decepticons if possible. "You have the most experience with the Phase Shifter it seems Smokescreen. Perhaps some teachings of it's uses is in order when the chance arises. Maybe teach Strongarm here as she seems rather interested in it."
It was settled for him and son he began to type away on his data pad, recording where what will go and how it should be done. Apex Armor tested on various builds and against weapons to see for any weaknesses. Phase Shifter to be held by Smokescreen as he has the most experience. Ratchet carrying the Resonance Blaster... Three items to be placed under lock and key, one of which he will personally know the location of only. The Star Saber he will keep to himself, preferring to use it as a symbol for his fellow Autobots to boost their morale when needed.
