Player Alias:
Meezer
Character Name:
Stepper
Allegiance:
Autobots
Appearance Description:
Personality:
Stepper himself is a cheerful and exuberant type of mech, cheerful to a fault at times. He often tries to be helpful and is always open to making friends with his comrades, especially in a one-on-one situation. His cheerful nature can sometimes be dimmed when he is anxious, which often happens in large groups when he's around them.
When working with data, whether on computers, his datapad, or his data visor, he tends to be intensely focused, to the point where he sometimes shuts out others. It isn't him being rude, however. It's just that he's so dedicated to his work. He loves his work and he loves helping others, especially his comrades and his superior officers, with his work.
Around those who rank higher, such as a commanding officer, he tends to be extremely formal unless asked not to be. For example, he will call Ratchet "Doctor Ratchet", or someone like Ultra Magnus "Commander Ultra Magnus". He was taught by his "sire" and "carrier" to default to formality unless told otherwise and is very mannerly.
As he is still quite young, considered a child or early teenager at best as a bot, he tends to have his spats of childishness, and childlike behavior. This may include situations of naivete as he has a childlike naivete, the occasional temper tantrum as he's still a bit childish by his nature, and the like.
Weaponry:
- Stepper carries the rifle of his late commanding officer. It is a large-stock blaster rifle. The rifle itself tends to have a sharp kickback that needs to be mitigated with proper posture.
- Stepper's main tool is his datapad as he is a hacker, coder, and codebreaker.
- Stepper's prescription visor functions as a second datapad for coding.
Strengths + Flaws:
- He is an excellent coder, as taught by his "carrier". He has a lot to learn but he has learned a lot from his carrier.
- However, due to his expertise at coding and his reluctance to try other things, he is relatively unversed and untrained in combat. He only really knows how to work with a limited weaponry range for self-defense.
- Stepper's visor helps him with coding by helping display possibilities in codebreaking and displaying missed segments in code.
- However, without his visor, it is more than just a disadvantage to his coding skills. He is also exceptionally nearsighted (has trouble seeing things far away). Considering his only combat skill is marksmanship? Oops. "MY GLASSES."
- His naivete can get him in trouble if misled by his own comrades or by Decepticons who manage to gain his trust. While he is more likely to believe his comrades, he is still naive enough to be misled if one wants to do it for a personal reason.
- He is a dedicated hard-worker if someone needs his hard work.
- He has experience with trade and commerce in case his trade/commerce skills are needed
- He has a few extreme fears to a few Earth animals, partly due to their threatening posturing at times.
History:
Though carried late in the war to a coder-hacker and a merchant, Stepper was indoctrinated early into the Autobot cause--or at least his Polyhexian parents' understanding of it: to protect and restore Cybertron, to protect other living beings under the Autobots' protection, and to always seek a peaceful end to the conflict. His carrier also instilled in him the importance of data and communications as a part of seeking the peaceful end of the conflict.
However, when it came time for young Stepper to be sent out into actual conflict, he would need the rescue of a somewhat older mech as he had fallen into a trap. His rescuer would recognize his need for guidance and took him under his wing to become his pupil. However, when Stepper was given the important mission to decipher a communications that his unit had intercepted, his mentor was sent to the front lines, and was killed in combat. He would leave the rifle to Stepper, who he trusted well with his weapon, which Stepper himself cherished and would keep and wield in honor of Silverburst.
During the exodus from Cybertron, his parents would place him in a pod to send him offworld, setting their own pods out as well. However, unlike his parents who ended up on a colony world, Stepper's pod ended up sent from Trade Planet to Trade Planet until he was awakened again. For a time he would learn commercial trade, much like his merchant Sire, on the trade planet he awoke on, until a call from the Autobots was intercepted from Earth. He volunteered to be sent to earth, sent off in his very pod.
Roleplay/Writing Sample: A small, scrawny mech peeked out of the pod carefully, looking around at the group that seemed to surround his pod. For a moment, anxiety seemed to grip his spark and he tried to cycle a few ventilations. They meant no harm, clearly; their faces were all friendly and curious moreso than anything. However, he didn't do well in large groups. It had been why Silverburst had mentored him one-on-one after he had officially become an Autobot, and it was why he had worked with a small communications group when he was a part of the unit.
Many of the faces were those of merchant mecha who were concerned and excited about the new mech that had arrived. Stepper couldn't fault them for that. New arrivals were exciting. However, he just didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of everyone. He didn't want them thinking he was a nobody from a backwater area of Polyhex either. There were just so many around.
"P-please back up a little." He spoke meekly. "I...I'd like to be able to get out and I'm...I-I'm feeling a little crowded." His optics seemed to dart to the group.
The group seemed to back off slightly, a few merchants going back to their stands while a few others stayed to help him. He seemed a bit nervous still with even the smaller group, but he seemed to cycle deep ventilations to keep himself calm. They were just there to help, he told himself in his mind. Just like Silverburst, they were there to help.
And he slumped, sighing in relief.
