Characters: Open Location: Control Room Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Dylan brings junk food to base on the weekend - looking to step away from school/life stresses for a few hours.
It was literally the one time of the week when he didn't have to be at the home or at school. So he almost always came to base with an assortment of junk food and a whole lot of boredom. "Finally freedom!" he announced, pigging out on some KO Burger fries as he dug them out of his bag, probably getting a few looks from anyone around. “Wonder who’s in today?” He murmured, definitely wishing to do more than sit around. Maybe even paint a bit or two if they him.
Though he quietly reminded himself to calm down at the same time. He was starting to get a little too open in this place for his liking - and he knew he had to dial that back a bit. Despite the fact he did like it there, there was no reason to keep going around embarrassing himself.
It wasn't often that Skystalker really lazed around. But, this was one day he had found himself snoozing in his quarters until rather late, having found little to do with his time as of late that didn't feel the same and mundane after a while. In fact, he had found himself unable to find much fun in his usual routine and had just decided to sleep the day away-until a strange smell met his olfactory sensors that was.
The Predacon lifted his head, sniffing the air a few times and finding a smell he had never come across before. It smelled rather repulsive to the likes of Skystalker, the dragon-like mech giving a look of disgust as he pushed himself to his feet, cursing his heightened senses of having to smell such a horrid thing. It was enough to get him up and moving, leaving his quarters in his dragon mode to follow this putrid stench, which led him right to the control room and pausing on the thresh hold of where the hall met the control room. It was definitely stronger here.
His optics scanned over the room until he spotted one of the organic creatures, a human ally of the Autobots he had never met. Quite frankly, he tended to avoid the humans whenever they were around due to previous experience. For once, he couldn't avoid the obvious matter at hand: his choice of a meal. "Do you flesh creatures always eat such repulsive smelling morsels?" Skystalker asked, bringing his head near Dylan without remotely thinking that he might be catching the small being by surprise.
Dylan lifted his head to defend his choice of KO Burger.
Only to see a dragon. Like a real, live dragon. To say he screamed might have put it mildly, jumping back and falling onto his backside. "Whoa! You're a dragon! When did the 'Bots get a dragon?" Dylan asked in complete and utter shock. "Or did the 'Bots get a dragon? Are you some sort of 'Con? Or some hallucination? Seriously, if you're the latter, I will never eat KO Burger again!"
To be fair, it was probably better than most people's reactions would be to having a giant dragon, or any kind of Predacon in front of them.
Dylan’s scream was a quick reminder why Skystalker never interacted with humans, snarling in surprise as he jumped back from the scream. How could such small creatures make such a loud noise? It actually made his audios ring for a good few seconds before he could really consider speaking or answering the small human. Apparently, having a Predacon really was not common place there.
“For your information fleshling, I am not one of your creatures of myth I am a proud Predacon, a creature of Cybertron’d history.” Skystalker grumbled, wanting to make it clear there was a difference. Or was there? Setting aside such a question he had about maybe a connection he turned his gaze towards Dylan and grumbled, “But trust me, I am very much as real one can get for my kind. But before you ask no I will be munch you down for dinner, no I will not harm you, and lastly if I were a Decepticon or under their control I would have already done the former two.” Skystalker answered as he stepped back closer towards the teenager.
But, he was cautious to approach so quickly. “And how could you possibly call that food? It smell horrendous and one of the most unappetizing scents I have ever come across.”
But now that he knew they actually had a dragon inwardly he was also screaming. How cool was that? They had a frickin’ dragon on base! On one hand he questioned when they had even gotten one, but on the other this was awesome. He grinned ear to ear a bit foregoing his usual shyness given his fondness of said mythical beast. “Dude Predacon or not you’re a dragon. And dragons are awesome so that’s a compliment,” he piped up. “Which is cool now that I know I’m not tripping on some bad chili cheese fries.””
He grimaced a bit. “Hey it’s not that bad! Better than the crap I get where I live.”
This was...not what Skystalker had remotely expected. Any time he had come across humans they had become fearful, screamed, and ran in terror, causing Skystalker to often remain hidden when the humans were around the base or find other way to entertain himself or become busy. Past experience would dictate the expected logical reaction would be said human before him running for his life expecting Skystalker to eat him. But his shock and fear quickly turned to awe and excitement.
"Yes, well, I suppose it is....awesome, as you put it." Skystalker said, clearing his throat slightly. Such strange creatures humans were... "I still do not understand why you would call me a dragon when I am clearly not. I may look like your beast of legend, but this is purely coincidence." Skystalker tried to firmly point out since this was not the first time he had been called as such, nor would it probably be the last.
But he considered Dylan's words for a moment then could only shrug in defeat. "I suppose we all have our preferences and then again I am not a human." That was really all he could offer in response. Though Skystalker couldn't help wonder what Dylan meant by his last remark.
Dylan smirked, a dragon that didn’t want to be called a dragon? Well he guessed it made sense. Though he did wonder secretly if maybe Predacons had visited Earth before and that was ultimately how and why they got dragons. “I mean touché, but maybe our dragons are based on you guys,” he surmised. “I doubt it’s coincidence, there was probably some connection... Maybe?”
He snorted at his second comment. He knew that was true honestly, he always thought the Energon that the Autobots had looked weird and disgusting himself so he supposed from a certain standpoint he got what he meant. “I mean, I could say the same about Energon,” he admitted rather honestly. “It looks like glowing cough syrup if you ask me and that stuff is nasty!”
“I too have wondered this my little fledgling friend, mostly because our characteristics seem so similar. I just have yet to find solid proof that we ever came here.” Skystalker agreed, relieved to see his theory may not be as far fetched enough for someone not to see this themselves. There were so many possibilities of his kind could have influenced human culture just as some of the Cybertronian encounters and technology had done the same for the ancients. But his question still remained, how could his kind in ancient past have gotten here in their first place?
Maybe he could investigate it some time.
”I suppose this cough syrup is meant to help with a cough?” He inquired, raising an optic ridge curiously. Humans just kept getting weirder and weirder to Skystalker and yet, he was fascinated to learn more about them since this was the first time he was talking with a human. Albeit, Dylan was younger than most he had come across but they seemed to be hitting it off just fine.”I have heard the things that are meant to help you tend to taste the worst.”
Wow so dragons could have been real at one time? That was an awesome thought to Dylan. Especially given he was now talking to what he would continue to perceive as a dragon. A smirk widened on his face as he then added. “Either way you’re gonna have to let me draw you sometime. It’s not everyday someone gets to draw the actual inspiration for dragons!” Dylan added rather enthusiastically. “It would literally be the most awesome thing ever.”
“Yep! And they taste like chalk! It’s awful!” Dylan playfully gagged a little bit at that. “Seriously you guys are lucky you don’t have to deal with it, though I can guess you probably have your own stuff like that.” It was true, if there were medics to the Autobots, there was undoubtedly medicine. Maybe he’d have to ask Ratchet about it sometime.
“Oh, uh, of course. I don’t mind if you wish to do so one day.” Skystalker said with surprise, not expecting this encounter to be going so well. For once he met a human that was no longer afraid and seemed to actually want to speak with him. The logic in this encounter certainly was taking a much different route then he had anticipated. ‘Maybe there is more to learn about these flesh creatures than I thought.’ He thought to himself, briefly having a thoughtful look at the prospect of actually befriending a human somehow.
But he actually gave a rumbling chuckle at the playful gag, a toothy grin coming to his maw. “I wouldn’t know what chalk tastes like I’m afraid, but I will take your word it.” He said, bemused by the teenager’s reaction to human medicine. But it did occur to him gradually that they had never spoken their proper names. Though he decided he could properly introduce himself while testing an alternative way of interacting he had been working on.
Stepping back a foot, he projected what many Cybertronians used known as a holo-form, creating the guise of a human appearance. His holo-form was tall and muscular, wearing clothes that were rather casual and the man looking in his forties to fifties at least, brown intense eyes looking back at Dylan. “Perhaps this will make our interaction easier.” Skystalker explained with a faint smile, offering his hand to shake, “I forgot to introduce myself though, my name is Skystalker of the Predacons.”
Dylan grinned ear to ear, already getting excited at the thought. Though he wanted to bring his stuff out then and there he also knew the mech was probably hardly ready for that. And it would have felt awkward to him to just do so without any indication he should at that exact moment. At least not when it came to a giant, possibly fire breathing, creature.
He nodded his head of course. Thankfully he didn’t know what it tasted like either but if he could imagine it, of course he would think of something disgusting like cough syrup. “Well, I don’t know what to compare it to for you guys sadly,” Dylan chuckled a little in response. “Though it probably tastes as bad as this apparently smells to you.”
At the sudden appearance of the man, he jumped back. Where had this dude come from? It took him a full minute to realize the dragon was somehow projecting it, but nodded his head. “Man! How did you do that?” He then paused a moment, taking the hand slowly. “Uh I’m Dylan...”
Seeing Dylan’s startled reaction, Skystalker noted appearing so suddenly without warning was probably not the greatest approach. He would definitely have to work on that. Or try to, being subtle or easing into something wasn’t necessarily his forte. “My apologies Dylan, I suppose I should have warned you about what I was doing.” He apologized once more, feeling he probably would give this kid a heart attack if he kept surprising him like this. Sometimes, interacting with his fellow Cybertronians was much easier than smaller creatures such as Dylan or his fellow humans.
but a smile quickly formed after lowering his hands, “From my understanding, we Cybertronians call this a holo-form. A realistic projection that can take on similarities to beings around us, especially smaller beings such as humans.” He explained, crossing an arm over his chest and rubbing his chin with the other. Certainly there was a lot he was still beginning to understand when it came to even his own kind. “But, the mechanics behind it are another story. You could say I am still learning things, especially my own mind from Cybertron.” He could only shake his head, realizing how different he felt from his fellow bots.
”You see, by our standards I am still...young, inexperienced.” The predacon explained with a sigh.
Dylan nodded along slowly trying to kind of figure it all out himself. It all sounded super sci fi to him and just sort of confused him admittedly. But then again he was still relatively new to the whole thing too. He shook his head a little bit and crossed his arms. “That’s uh... pretty cool actually. I never knew you guys could do that and I’ve been around here for months,” he explained rather quizzically. “Is this new or am I just that oblivious?”
He made an “oh” shape with his mouth. This guy was young? That almost surprised him. If not for the fact that the mech seemed to be new to the whole human thing. And the fact he’d never seen this mech before either. “It’s cool. I’m fifteen and I’m still figuring this out,” He twirled his hair a big. “You tag one ambulance and suddenly your whole world is in question.”
"It is very possible you haven't discovered the full extent of what we are capable of Dylan, things come to you with time. And maybe a little study." Skystalker explained with a smile. He wasn't too surprised about Dylan not knowing everything about Cybertronians, there was honestly a lot to their species. And really, the same could be said for Cybertronians still trying to understand humans and their diverse natures. In general, either side probably could still learn a thing or two from the other or come to fully understand everything they had to offer.
With a blink of his brown eyes, the projection was gone and Skystalker's real form stepped forward once more. "Hmm, I could say the same honestly." Skystalker admitted, lying on his belly and lowering his head to be eye level with Dylan. "My world changed the moment I destroyed the lab in which I originated. To be honest, I still have yet to find how I ended up on Earth in the first place." Skystalker visibly frowned, still puzzled by what the months had brought. Yes, it had been months since he had come to the Autobots, had been taken into their fold and began trying to learn more about his kind. Yet, he never could seem to find the answers he was looking for.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he put his focus back on the human teenager. "At least I am not the only young one here. But, even you are actually older than me. I am only months old at best." Skystalker told him, which might come off as ironic.
