Rodimus shrugged slightly in response to Hot Shot's question about friends, silently playing it off as an 'of course there's nothing wrong with it' thing. Not that he knew. People tended not to like him.
The mention of Perceptor actually caused him to relax just a bit. Thank Primus- wait...the hell was he doing on Earth when he was supposed to be on the Lost Light? Weird. Well... the same went for Ratchet...
He brought a hand to his chin, nodding along. Think, Roddy, think. It's not your strongsuit, but you can do it!
"Huh...maybe I'll hold off on immediately chasin' 'em down. Probably should follow protocol or something...don't wanna get whacked with a wrench," he grinned.
Yes. Sounded good. He'd try to wait and survey a little bit.
If Rodimus had told Hot Shot that he didn't have all that many friends, the Wrecker would never have believed it. Rodimus was such an awesome guy from all the stories he'd heard! A mech who'd gone on all these wild and crazy adventures, captain of his own ship, and allegedly from those very stories took on Megatron and had him running with a single punch? Were any of those true? Who was to say, but Hot Shot believed the guy was awesome even if only half those things were. Who wouldn't want an awesome friend like that?!
"Yeah, probably best not to. I mean he'll fix it, that's a given but it still kinda hurts regardless."
Hot Shot chuckled a bit nervously, smiling as he attempted to think of something the both of them could do.
"You, umm... in need of fuel? I can show you where the Energon dispenser is if you need some."
If Rodimus had known just what those stories about him had said, he might have actually been a little thrown. And his ego would have inflated. And he might have actually been embarrassed. Maybe.
Rodimus twitched at the memory of being smacked with at least one wrench, wincing.
"Yeah, I'll leave Ratchet be for now..."
He looked over at Hot Shot as the bot offered him fuel. Actually...he could use some. He couldn't remember the last time he'd actually fueled up on the Lost Light. He'd had a rough past few days. Playing dead to escape Magnus asking stupid questions. Then, the 'Duly Appointed Enforcer' had threatened to have Ratchet weld his aft to his chair if he didn't get his work done, which meant that Rodimus had stayed in his office, refusing to do his work for a long while. And then they'd jumped through time and space.
Hot Shot noticed the wince, and attempted to smile in a reassuring manner. He knew all too well what it was like to have Ratchet's famed wrenches thrown at him for various things around the base, none of which he planned on divulging. Mostly just goofy stuff that ended up being frowned upon by the medic.
"Awesome! Uh.. I mean.. It's right over here."
With a somewhat nervous chuckle, trying to keep himself from getting too excited about Rodimus being here and failing miserable, he led the taller mech over to the closest Energon dispenser. He let a couple cubes come out of it, handing one of them over to Rodimus.
"Mostly regular Energon and the medical stuff here, but I know there's high grade hiding around here somewhere if you're wanting that."
Rodimus took the cube with a nod of thanks, opening it and taking a swig. Yeah, that was definitely what he'd needed. He still didn't pay much mind to the other's awkwardness, figuring it was just Hot Shot being...him.
"Nope, I'm good," he said, "I get chewed out if I go after high grade on the job," he smirked, taking another long drink.
Ultra Magnus had hunted him down at Swerve's more than once. It was annoying as slag.
"So, how's Earth for you? I wasn't here very long last time, but, I thought it was okay."
Hot Shot smiled a bit as Rodimus nodded to him at the Energon. Sure he felt super awkward with things, but thankfully the other mech didn't seem to mind it too much. After all, Hot Shot could've been a lot worse about his fanboying, and this was rather tame in consideration.
"Ehehe.." Poor guy. Couldn't even have high grade on the job, which was fair. Although, he was a captain, wasn't he? Wouldn't he be able to make the rules on stuff like that? Then again, Hot Shot knew nothing when it came to being captain of a crew, or even just a leader period. He left that to the bigger bots in charge, but he was also still just a kid. He had lots to learn, and he was actively trying to avoid an encounter with Kup if he could possibly help it.
"H-huh?" The blue Wrecker looked to Rodimus with surprise at his question for a moment, but quickly shook the surprise off. "It's cool, I guess. I mean.. where we are now it's pretty boring. Just sand and dirt, but I hear a lot of other places on the planet are nicer. There's this place called Crown City where another group of Autobots are at, and I hear there's this awesome race track out there. Wanna check it out one day."
Rodimus was surprised to hear about another group of Autobots. So, they had a secondary base? That might be really smart...though, he wasn't sure why they needed two. The war was over. Could be a remaining outpost that just needed manning...
He perked up at the sound of 'race track'. It had been ages since he'd had a good race. He grinned.
"Maybe I'll go with ya. Sounds like a good time. I haven't raced in forever..."
He was still trying to play it cool with the younger bot, so, as he took another drink, he stayed chill. Business first, business first...then racing.
"So there's another group in Crown City?" he had no idea where that was, but, okay, "What are they doing up there? Is there an energon deposit or something?"
It did make sense that Rodimus hadn't raced in some time. If he was captain of a ship, would he really have the time to? It was kinda sad, especially when racing was so much fun. Not just that, but just speeding down a racetrack could easily take ones processor off of problems and the like.
"Really? Well.. I mean.. if you wanna maybe we could race together sometime? Probably would be more fun with others though."
It also did not come to much surprise that the other mech knew nothing about the second Autobot base. Not even Hot Shot himself had been to the second base, but he had heard all about it as well as their mission. Honestly, having a second base wasn't a bad idea, and helped in the event that one of the bases was discovered by the enemy or something. Like that would ever happen though.
..Right?
"It's kind of a long story, but I guess something happened with one of the Decepticon prisoner ships and it crashed and the Decepticons on board.. kinda all escaped? So another group was sent out to the location of the crash and they're attempting to catch 'em all. Kinda sounds like a hard job to me, but they seem to be doing alright from what I'm hearing. Bumblebee's leading their team."
Rodimus perked up slightly at the mention of others. There were other bots here willing to have a good time? Damn, he should have come back to Earth ages ago!
Though....the mention of a ship full of escaped 'Cons was a bit worrying...he hadn't even realized there were still prison ships flying around. Must have been some pretty dangerous bots on board.
He almost choked when he heard the name 'Bumblebee'. What the hell?! Bee was on Earth?!
"Bumblebee's leading a team?" he asked, shock apparent, "Damn, he moves fast. Last I checked, he was trying to keep peace on Cybertron."
He'd never forget their last encounter. Mostly because of how it ended. And he was still convinced that Prowl had something to do with the engine malfunction...
Hot Shot looked to Rodimus in surprise. Had he not known that Bumblebee was on Earth? Then again.. hadn't he mentioned something about another dimension? Maybe things were just that different where he was from. At the same time, the very thought kinda saddened Hot Shot a bit. If Rodimus really was from another dimension, then who knew if this meant the stories he'd heard were true.
...Or maybe they were and Rodimus was just a dimension hopper on top of that! Yes! Hot Shot liked that idea better.
"Yeah, he's been here for a long time from what I understand. Been serving with Optimus and such; Had his vocalizer crushed by Megatron too. Kinda scary stuff, but he's all better now. Guess whatever Ratchet did, he fixed it?" The Wrecker shrugged with his Energon cube in servo, smiling a bit.
"Anyway, what's this peace on Cybertron? I didn't know there was any with this war going on." He could have meant it in a joking way, but Hot Shot had actually been serious with his question. For as long as he could remember, the war had always been going on. There were a few hazy gaps or just plain things he couldn't remember, but the war had always been a constant. "Is.. the war over where you're from? Or not even started?"
