Player Alias: Jaxrond
Character Name: Vos
Allegiance: Decepticons
Appearance Description:
The smallest of the Decepticon Justice Division, Vos's helm is level with Kaon's shoulder. He's a slight bot, and perhaps the most humanoid in his shape when compared to his fellows. His armor is a deep purple, and is thickest around his chest and shoulders. Armor can also be found on his shins and forearms, both of which are occasionally marked with purple biolights. Vos's helm is generally the same color of his armor, with light gray curving around a raised fin on the very top of his head. The forefront of his helm spikes sharply upward on both sides, reminiscent of the Decepticon emblem. His only other color is found on his audial disks, which are gold.
Vos's face, or perhaps lack thereof, is his most noticeable feature. Usually, two malevolent optics are visible above what appears to be a regular facemask. However, Vos is capable of removing his entire face, including his optics. A press of a button causes a number of sharp objects to emerge from the back side of this mask, which seems to have been created with the sole intent of being pressed to another's face for the purpose of torture. When his face is removed, a blank plate is revealed beneath it. Due to the shape of the optics attached to his mask and the empty sockets left behind when he takes it off, it can be assumed that Vos quite literally has the ability to take his optics out and then plug them back in without issue. As he is able to speak when it is gone, it also stands to reason that his voice emanates from an apparatus other than a traditional mouth.
Unlike his fellows, who transform into instruments of torture or vehicles, Vos’s alt. mode is that of a sniper rifle. As he has been wielded by numerous bots of varying sizes, it can be assumed that he is able to shift his size to fit that of his wielder. This rifle is the same deep purple as his armor and is marked on both sides by numerous purple biolights.
Personality:
Vos is a sadist, plain and simple. His personal method of torture isn’t designed to kill, it’s designed to cause pain. It was purposefully made this way, the idea behind it being that, afterwards, the victim would be turned over to the other members of the DJD to be dealt with in a more final manner. Vos likes to cause pain, and he likes when the others cause pain. He enjoys watching what his fellows do to others. The worse the death, the more gleeful he becomes.
As a scientist, Vos is also incredibly curious. Though his focus is in one specific area, he’s not without a desire to know other things. He’s a questioner. Even when excited by the prospect of another target, he’s the one asking what they did, why they’re on The List, who they are, and so on. It’s not that he’s sympathetic. Not in the least. He’s just coldly curious. In this way, he shares a similarity with Shockwave.
Vos is also incredibly pedantic, at least in some aspects. A lingual purist, he speaks only in the nearly dead Primal Vernacular. Both Tarn and Kaon have attempted to teach him Neocybex, but, he has only demonstrated the ability to use a few words. Whether this is out of a true lack of ability or a simple refusal is unclear, however, due to Tarn’s description of him as a ‘lingual purist’, the latter is the most likely. Despite his refusal to pick up on the teachings of his teammates, he does have a deep emotional connection with them. Tarn and Kaon are especially close to him. He respects Tarn as his leader and views Kaon as a sort of older ‘friend’, though that word would likely never be used within the ranks of the DJD. Tarn and Kaon are also the only two he can accurately communicate with.
Strengths:
Powerful Alt. Mode: Vos may not have a generic form, but, that doesn’t mean that he’s not useful. His weapon form is powerful enough to have been used by Megatron himself in combat
Small and Quick: Though by no means an adept hand-to-hand fighter, Vos does have strengths in that area. A much larger bot would have difficulties catching him on the battlefield, as his skills in evasion are quite good.
Agility: Just as he is small and fast, he is also very agile. Whether it’s scaling a surface or skittering around an opponent’s attack, he’s very light on his pedes and generally nimble.
Scientific Mind: Vos does have a specific focus in physiological science, however, this does not mean that he cannot learn about other areas. He is a very intelligent and crafty bot with a great deal of natural curiosity. This means that he is always learning.
Weaknesses:
No Weapons: Though Vos could, theoretically, simply pick up a gun and fire it, he does not carry weapons on his person, even in battle.
Lack of Mobility: When in gun form, Vos is without the ability to move of his own volition. Short of transforming back to his bipedal form, he’s quite literally stuck. His going anywhere is completely reliant on whoever is carrying him.
Communication Error: The only two people Vos is around regularly whom he can communicate with are Tarn and Kaon. This means that he has to leave it up to them to translate what he says if speaking to someone else.
Necessary Reliance: Since he does not have weaponry and is not large enough to be an adept hand-to-hand combatant, Vos is incredibly reliable on his fellow DJD members. They are his protection in battle and, without their assistance, he really is unable to use his mask. He has a habit of ducking behind Tarn, especially, relying on his leader’s physical size and natural prowess as a shield.
Temporary Blindness: When Vos removes his mask, he also removes his optics. Unlike Kaon, he does not have the ability to use echolocation to find his way about. As long as his mask is off, he’s blind.
Abilities:
Vos’s scientific specialty lies in ‘cybertronian bodywork’, specifically, physiotherapy. He has an in-depth knowledge of Cybertronian anatomy and physiology and is able to apply it in either a helpful or harmful way. He enjoys experimenting with new techniques to use in both ways.
History:
Not much is known about Vos’s past. He was naturally forged, presumably before the natural production of sparks ceased. He is the second ‘Vos’ to have been accepted into the DJD, having gone by Forestock previously. He is also the most recent member.
Presumably, before joining the DJD, he was a physiotherapist. This is interesting due to the nature of his alt. mode and the previous presence of the Functionalist society. It is quite possible that he attained his alt. mode after the beginning of the war, favoring something more prudent for battle. If not, then it’s possible that he was a rebel who stood against the Functionalists in his choice of profession. At some point, presumably after the war, he had his face remodeled to function as it does now.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
Small, white digits curled around the edge of the mask, drawing a whimper from its wearer. Vos paused for a moment, seeming to gather himself. Then, he wrenched. The bot on the ground gave a violent twitch, a garbled cry leaving his vocalizer. Vos could have simply pressed the button located within the side of the mask, retracting the blades cleanly from his victim, but, that would detract from the enjoyment he took in their pain. Simply pulling the mask off, torturous implements still extended, aggravated the entrance wounds, pulling at their edges and widening them. Purple droplets scattered with the motion.
Flipping the mask over in his hands, Vos ran a single digit over one of the larger corkscrew blades. He was blind at the moment, his optics being part of the mask, but, he was not without his other senses. He could hear the thundering of Tesarus’ footsteps, the ground beneath him shaking with the vibrations. A whirring and hissing of motors and hydraulics as the huge mech extended his hand to grip the target. The wordless, blubbering screams and pleas the blinded bot gave as he was lifted. He couldn’t have seen his tormentor coming, but, surely, he knew from their sheer size that it was either Helex or Tesarus. One horrible death or another was coming, and he was left to guess at which one.
The growling whine of Tesarus’ blades would tell him in a moment.
Vos ignored the sounds, giving the mask a few flicks to clear off some of the energon on it. He would give it to Nickle later to clean, as he couldn’t very well do so when his optics were attached to it. When he was satisfied that it was at least clean enough to wear, Vos retracted the blades and pressed the mask back to his face, optics popping into place within their sockets. He shook his head slightly as they adjusted, vision blurry at first and then adjusting to clarity. Well, clarity with the exception of a few energon streaks.
He looked up just in time to see the smile that pulled at Tesarus’ lip components as the sound of shredding metal drowned out the pleas for mercy.
