Player Alias: Meezer
Character Name: Wheeljack
Allegiance: Autobots -- Wrecker
Appearance Description: Beneath the bravado of his expression and the battle scars, Wheeljack is, perhaps on the small side for a Wrecker, being of a more average height and leaner bulky build. The bulk comes from thicker, durable armor that comes from his modifications to be a Wrecker, while not sacrificing his speed and maneuverability. His paint scheme takes cues of white and black, with bold red and green stripes across the chestplating and the leg armor. Just between the shoulder-blades and the spinal strut lie his small, green-accented doorwings. When in battle, he dons his battle-mask over his face to provide a sort of "poker face" while protecting himself. When not in battle and the mask is down, Wheeljack's more charming face is shown, complete with quite a few battle scars.
His alternate mode is the cybertronian approximation of a Lancia Fenomenon Stratos concept prototype. Many of the modifications seem to be more to accommodate his frametype more than anything else.
Personality: First and foremost, it is important to note that Wheeljack is fiercely independent to a fault. By his own admission, he doesn't "play well with others", often staking out his missions on his own. He has a bit of a nomadic streak as well, often leaving a place before too long. Combined with a stubborn streak a mile long and an iron will, he's a bit of a loose cannon and tends to not take too well to authority. In fact, he's always that inch away from an insubordination charge, and a centimeter from telling his commanders to shove it up their tailpipes. But does that matter to him? Nah, not really.
On the other hand, despite his independence, he does has a fierce and intense loyalty if you have won it. He is willing to cross hell, high water, and the universe on the behalf of his loved ones and friends. Perhaps it is this loyalty that drives him to be solitary; if he's too close to them, they are at risk of dying or being used against him in some way. He tends, as a result, to have trouble expressing his deeper emotions for fear of letting himself get too close.
Still, beneath the independence and the loyalty is a quick and nimble mind of an engineer. Of course, this is one he has always kept hidden as his ace-in-the-hole. He uses his nimble mind to figure out how to tackle a situation, and sometimes even save his hide, as in the case of turning a bird-like drone into a turducken of bomb. The fact that he keeps this under wraps makes him a dangerous enemy to any who dare disregard him.
Wrapped around all his complete nature is the truth that deep within the core of his spark, he is an Autobot. While he may be too loose a cannon to completely command, and may wander far, he will always help those in need--especially his comrades.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
Strengths:
+ Percussive Maintenance To Your Face: Wheeljack's perhaps most notable strength would happen to be his physical brute force, combined with nimble speed. He uses these to gain the edge in close combat whenever possible. As well, he uses it to protect those important to him and close to him. Whether focused into his fists, through his swords, or through his weapons, it is brutal, efficient, and deadly.
+ A Mind Sharper Than Katanas: Perhaps his deadlier strength would be his quick mind. Not only is it the brilliant mind of an engineer, but it runs quicker than ever Wheeljack's frame. He's constantly accounting for everything around him and what he might need to do in a given situation. If his usual strategy of "one grenade, one shot" fails, he's quick to strategize new strategies.
+ Master Mechanic: Perhaps developed by his intense time on his own, Wheeljack is able to quickly repair or rig up a weapon, and even more quickly repair his ship, the Jackhammer. He has been known to be able to disassemble a grenade without tripping the explosives even!
+ BOOM Goes The Dynamite: Wheeljack is well-versed with explosives. Not only has he been known to disassemble grenades without tripping them, he has been known to make his own explosives. In addition, he knows how to set them up, often even where to set them up to maximize or minimize what he needs to blow to smithereens and rain explosive, fiery, and sometimes rocky hell on his enemies.
Weaknesses:
- Reckless And Rule: As the "loose cannon" of the Wreckers, he tends to be reckless and take unnecessary risks. This has included but not been limited to throwing himself in the fray, causing too much collateral damage, and nearly exposing Cybertronians to the native populations.
- Take Your Authority And Shove It: As he is fiercely independent, Wheeljack doesn't like to take guff from authority. He won't stand for authority telling him what to do. Especially rules-oriented tyrants (like Ultra Magnus). Oh, he'll work with them if he has to. But you won't get him to respect them or their hoity-toity rules.
- How Do I Feel Things: As he is quite reserved, emotionally, it is hard for Wheeljack to get in touch with his emotions. In addition, he can sometimes disregard emotions of others as well, not quite able to understand them as he's lost touch with his own. He's slowly trying to work on this--trying, mind you.
- Much Adventure, Very Nomad: Even when staying in one spot more often, he always has that itch. Call it a call to adventure that he just can't refuse. Call it a seven-year-itch. Staying in a place for too long and putting down roots makes him a bit anxious. That isn't to say that he'll necessarily leave, but it will make him a bit more wound up if he CAN'T leave.
Abilities: As mentioned in his strengths, Wheeljack is an intensely skilled mechanic and engineer. He tends to build his own weaponry and explosives when needed, and repairs himself and his ship, the Jackhammer whenever necessary.
Speaking of the Jackhammer, he is a skilled pilot of the craft. It is, after all, his personal ship, a small ship that he has traveled in and maintained for centuries innumberable since Cybertron went dark. He is able to even maneuver it in insanely, dangerously precise ways.
Wheeljack is a very in-your-face combatant who is skilled in hand-to-hand and weapons-based combat. Surrounded by Vehicons? He can take 'em. In a dicey situation? He can handle it. He's got strategy and skill.
Weaponry: Wheeljack's preferred weapon of trade is his twin swords, similar to their Earth counterparts, katanas, in shape and sharpness, which he uses with a high degree of skill and accuracy, and deadly precision. His built-in weaponry are a pair of built-in plasma ion cannons that reside within his forearms. His additional weaponry includes a myriad of self-made explosives from his own personal arsenal. His fists are a major weapon for him alongside his wits. And this isn't even counting his ship, the Jackhammer and its myriad of weaponry.
History: Most of Wheeljack's history is a shrouded mystery other than the basics of emerging from the Well of Allsparks and his studies. He had his own lab at one point during his studies; however, everything changed when the Decepticons attacked. He threw the flashy world of academics behind him and joined up with the Wreckers, the roughest, toughest sons of glitches. They had a tight band of brotherhood with one another, though none closer than Wheeljack's close friendship with Bulkhead. They would do what no one else would do, what no one else COULD do. However, many of his Wrecker brethren fell during the War, only steeling Wheeljack's resolve that much more.
When Ultra Magnus took over, Wheeljack was unable to handle the transition. Rather than take orders from a superior who didn't know how the Wreckers worked, he went solo. Soon, the Exodus would come to pass, and he would find himself on his own aboard the Jackhammer, content to travel the galaxy and search for survivors of Cybertron and its wars. This would lead him to intercept Optimus Prime's signal to those who remained.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
"Ratch? You there?" Wheeljack's voice was quiet. He had just gotten back from a jaunt not across the galaxy, but across the globe. It had been a quick mission to gather intelligence and a little energon, but that hadn't meant that he hadn't missed Ratchet the whole time.
In fact, he missed Ratchet more than he could openly admit. Just like he missed Bulkhead. Just like Ratchet often missed his elder mentor. Wheeljack would slowly and carefully slip down beside Ratchet, venting softly, trying to clear his processor for a moment before he spoke any more.
But trying to clear was a lot easier than clearing his processor in general. It was always racing like his roaring engines and the whirring machinations inside his machines. It had a distinct flurry of motion not unlike the flurry of motion of his own blades. Needless to say, Wheeljack's mind definitely never stopped ticking.
"I missed ya while I was gone, Sunshine." He murmured. "Brought you back something. It's still back in the Jackhammer, of course."
