How did one exactly go about hunting down giant robots?
As he stood there next to the bus stop, backpack slung over his shoulder, Chris had to really think about that question. Honestly, in a perfect world, they'd find him. Surely these guys could track his signal if MECH could right? Barring the idea of a tracking device on him which he REALLY hoped wasn't the case. But as he'd come to learn as a kid things were never that simple - or at least never seemed that way.
Of course, this probed the question of where to start. He knew he didn't have long, maybe days, maybe literal hours before MECH found him. Jackson, his adopted father, had been afraid for a reason. And they no doubt knew the same that he did: that they were close by this town... Which was weird when you thought about it, given it was such a small one.
His first thought, he supposed, was that he should start asking around about weird things around town. In the hopes that people had started to notice anything bizzare and out of the ordinary, and work his way out from there.
And so he started the calm walk into the town. Maybe, if anything, there was a local place he could find young people like him.

Zodiac was on the outskirts of Nevada, calmly flying over the town. Her radar had caught wind of a life force in the area and thanks to sheer curiosity she decided to check it out. She flew high into the sky at a slow speed scanning the area below her. Her radar beeped a bit as she closed in on the life force. I'm getting close. But where is it? She watched all the cars below her carefully as she passed careful not to fly two close. She didn't want to alert any of the little fleshlings. Another beep sounded from her radar reminding her that she had passed her target. If this life force wasn't a vehicle than what was it?
Still wanting to find this souce but not wanting to blow her cover she swerved back around and flew higher until she was above the clouds so at least the humans (or other bots for that matter) from down below wouldn't be able to see her anymore. With the cover of the clouds high in the sky she hovered over the life-signal. She'd continue to follow it until a better opportunity presented itself. Who knows? Perhaps something interesting could come from this?

In the back of his mind, Chris couldn’t help but feel like he was already being followed. He tensed visibly. Pulling the hood of his jacket over him, he moved at a brisket pace. Given the fact he definitely had a hard time turning into a robot he didn’t want a fight, that was for sure. Beyond a handgun from his dad he carried from his dad and the swords in that robotic form though, he definitely was a sitting duck.
If only he had any idea of who it was that was following him. He may have gotten a grip enough to know he needed to run even faster than he did when it came to mech. But unfortunately for the young teen, he had no idea what he was up against.

Zodiac continued to follow under the cover of the clouds. But the further she went the more the clouds began to thin out. She was still covered, but every now and gain, threw breaks in the clouds she could be spotted. She looked down at the ground below her and used her enhanced vision to zoom in for anything suspicious. She stopped once she saw a small looking human youth that was walking at a brisk pace. Like the little fleshling was in a hurry. She sped up a bit to get a look at the human's face.
The life signal was coming from that?
That was impossible. Her radar was made for detecting Cybertronian life signals. How could it be that this little meat-bag had one? This only irked her curiosity more as she continued to follow from above. She was well aware (and growing worried) of the fact that the clouds were starting to thin out more, but she would not just let this go. If this was a techno-organic, like she thought it was, then perhaps it could be useful. She could give this thing to Shockwave. Or another scientist. Maybe even receive a promotion.
This could very well be her ticket to the top, and she was not about to lose it.

As the clouds dispersed, Chris noticed the large plane.
What the heck was that doing in the middle of a town like Jasper? Chris really had no idea but he didn’t like that feeling in the pit of his stomach this thing gave him. Why was there such a feeling of dread washing over him? He didn’t know that either but to be on the safe side he quickened his steps and moved as fast as he could. Perhaps being a little suspicious but that was about if

As the clouds continued to thin out Zodiac closed in on her subject. It seemed to be a human male, decently young. She watched as his pace quickened. She growled at herself. Her cover was blown. The fleshling knew something was up now. Not that he knew what exactly what but he was well aware of her presence now. Perhaps she should strike now? No, that wasn't wise. She surveyed the area. There was a particular area, a construction area, that was empty nearby. If she could grab the human she could question him there. Who know, perhaps if she were to get enough info she could simply just use that instead of going through the trouble of kidnapping the little thing.
Zodiac swooped down a bit lower, so now her shadow was over the human. All she needed now as for her prey to seek sanctuary somewhere in the construction zone away from her watchful optics. Not that it would do much.

Of course, Chris went for the bait.
He would later kick himself in the pants for doing so. But at the time going for cover to get away from a jet seemed like a construction area. After all, jets didn't normally fly into those often, did they? At least he could hope not as he entered it and tried to level his breathing a little to be less obvious - as if that would help.
