Player Alias:
Kavac
Character Name:
Pulsar
Allegiance:
Neutral
Appearance Description:
Being one of the legendary Mutacons, Pulsar's abilities allow her to infinitely change her appearance at will. Despite this, her general mass changes little, limiting her forms by way of size. Mutacons themselves typically possess a vaguely organic-looking frame, almost entirely devoid of the mechanical parts that comprise their distant Cybertronian cousins. In addition, they usually favor soft silvers and blues when in their 'true' form.
There is no distinction between Pulsar's true form and her alt form, being able to change the shape of both to whatever she pleases.
Personality:
Pulsar's personality is a harsh contrast to that of her Mutacon brothers and sisters; while Mutacons are characterized as playful and lighthearted beings, their wayward sister is quite the opposite. The shapeshifter is incredibly selfish, cynical and manipulative, although with good reason. Pulsar places herself above all others, especially non-Mutacons, who she deems as inferior by comparison.
This superiority complex lends itself to tormenting and toying with nearly everyone she meets, not to mention as a way to prevent any overly compassionate bot from forming ties with her; despite this, her main fear is forming ties with another Mutacon, not necessarily another Cybertronian. She is a sociopath in every sense of the word, although a small part of her old self yearns to break free again. Knowing this, she is best described as a bot with a hard exterior, but a weak core.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
+The Master of Disguise! - Pulsar has the ability to mold herself into any shape she can imagine, which is quite a lot of shapes. Her transformation powers outstrip those of baseline Cybertronians by a few good light years, capable of taking the forms of other Cybertronians at will as well.
+Flow like Water - While she appears to be solid at any given time, Pulsar's body reacts to impacts like liquid metal, allowing her to survive and evade even the quickest attacks.
+Perhaps I can persuade you otherwise - Influence and manipulation are no foreign concepts to Pulsar, who has learned how to use her abilities to further her own ends without violence.
+Who are you, to command ME? - Pulsar considers herself outside the boundaries of anyone with any sort of authority to their name. In her eyes, nobody can command her power but herself.
-Trust Issues - Nobody can be trusted, not by a long shot. An extreme individualist, Pulsar shies away from forming personal bonds with others, although this distrust is magnified tenfold when directed at any group or organization.
-Impending Doom - Pulsar's fear of groups stems from the inevitable loss of self that all Mutacons will eventually experience, herself included. Although her actions have staved off this fate for quite some time, it will one day reach her; she strives to find a way to remove her 'curse', and will forgo her usual stigmas to latch on to anyone capable of helping her.
-Crisis of Conscience - Despite her fierce exterior, Pulsar can never change what she is on the inside. Her conscience is still very much active, albeit greatly repressed. The ancient Cybertronian inside her still clings to a set of self-described archaic morals, such as compassion and friendship. Those rare few who come to know her closely will see this internal struggle laid bare.
-Upper Limits - Size is a critical factor for any shifter, Mutacons included. They are unable to take the shape of anything substantially larger than themselves, without the aid of another Mutacon. While an experienced Mutacon may be able to overcome these limits, their overall mass will remain the same regardless of form taken.
Abilities:
Legendary Combiner - Pulsar is capable of merging with any other Mutacon or Cybertronian, to such a degree that both parties experience what it means to exist as the other. Due to her controlling personality, the Mutacon exerts a great deal of dominance over the resultant form. Whatever Pulsar merges with will have its powers amplified to the next level, possibly even beyond that.
Mind if I borrow this? - The abilities of other Transformers are available for Pulsar to control, given she has enough time to understand them. She can easily replicate the powers of anything she observes, although they will only be a rough approximation. Only by merging with another Transformer can Pulsar truly replicate their powers, and in doing so she retains the ability to perfectly copy them even after separation.
The Gift of Giving - Mutacons have a natural affinity for healing biomechanical injuries, including their own. If it's broken, Pulsar can fix it; if she feels like it. In addition to medical prowess, Pulsar can choose to bestow her restorative powers to anyone she combines with. Those lucky few will have their transformation powers enhanced, and will gain the ability to heal others, if only temporarily.
Weaponry:
Herself - As every fiber of her being is under her complete control, Pulsar might as well use a few to conjure up weapons. She is capable of turning her limbs into blades, hammers, axes, blasters, and projectile launchers, limited by her own imagination. In extreme cases, she is able to turn her entire body into one massive weapon, if only for the sake of overkill.
History:
Pulsar is old; very old. She remembers the glittering towers of Cybertron as the planet entered its proud Golden Age, and the roaring of vessels departing its atmosphere bound for worlds unknown. One of the original colonists of Neutronia, Pulsar was once a prominent figure in the world's development in eons past. Her natural affinity for settling disputes and forming bonds with others made her the go-to bot to mediate issues between colonists. A social butterfly could not stop the Rust Plague from decimating her world at the end of Cybertron's Golden Age, however. The destruction of the space bridge network prevented the Neutronians from returning home, for fear that they may carry the destructive plague all the way back home. As such, the survivors headed back to the stars in search of a better world, making a crucial discovery on the way. Listing along the edge of a black hole's event horizon, they found the transformation cog of the legendary Amalgamous Prime, one of the thirteen. Not wanting such an important artifact to be lost to the void, the Neutronian survivors took it with them in their ship. Long-term exposure to the cog's power changed their bodies, greatly enhancing their transformation powers beyond the level that any Cybertronian had achieved previously. Pulsar was among the first to experience the joy of merging with another of her kind, learning to understand what it meant to exist not as herself, but as her partner.
After centuries of combining with each other while sailing through the stars, the newly dubbed Mutacons made a terrible discovery: they were each losing themselves to each other, their minds linking as their individual forms dissolved. If nothing was done, the Mutacons would eventually all involuntarily merge into one composite lifeform, devoid of personality and individuality. Having previously merged with nearly all of the other Mutacons, these gradual changes hit Pulsar harder than most. Her thoughts were constantly invaded by others, her once sleek and pristine form warped beyond recognition. The fear of losing what defined her in a vast sea of nothingness was too much to bear for Pulsar; so, she elected to do something about it. Searching the stars for any trace of Amalgamous Prime in the hopes of reversing their condition was a futile waste of time, as far as Pulsar was concerned. She had to separate herself from the collective she'd been a part of for thousands of years, which was no easy task. In the end, she chose to destroy twelve other Mutacons in order to create a mental barrier between herself and the survivors, as nobody in their right mind would want to be a part of her after what she'd done. The intrusive thoughts of the others receded more and more as the rest of the Mutacons came to discover the heinous acts she had performed, to both her relief and horror. The survivors chose not to execute Pulsar, and instead they cast their fallen sister into the depths of space, alone.
Eons passed, and yet Pulsar's deeds remained fresh in the minds of the Mutacons; their thoughts scattered as they thought of her, which served to halt the wayward Mutacon's amalgamation. Reliving her actions over the years ended up warping Pulsar's personality, to the point that the once-compassionate and loving Cybertronian was no more. She now travels the stars in hopes of finding a being that can cure her slowly advancing condition, although now without the companionship of her brothers and sisters.
