Characters: Moonracer, Override, open Location: Nevada Desert, Nevada, US Content Warnings: Possible some mention of past violence, gore Plot Summary: Moonracer has been solo like most of her Wreckers teammates, but after hearing about Earth she has finally made planet fall and is eager to get in on the action.
Yup, that had to be the big blue and green planet she had been hearing about over the frequencies for a while now. Moonracer had been traveling for a few days in this quadrant, trying to spot the description given out about Earth. Couldn't miss it was the talk, and she had been looking for a week now...still nothing. That was up until now.
From where Moonracer was in her ship, resembling that the other Wreckers' ships, the planet was blue, gorgeous and pretty to look at, but it was so fragging blue from there. "This has got to be the place." Moonracer muttered, finally moving closer towards the planet, figuring maybe she could make an okay landing...until her ship's sensors warned of low fuel. "Oh come on!” The former racer groaned, checking the fuel levels and finding she had just enough to make a landing but any further would be risking a crash and that was something she did not want, again.
“Time to perform an emergency form scan, might as well while I’m descending.” She sighed, pressing a few buttons to access the planet’s main database, the internet as it seemed to go by. The ship soon breached orbit and made its way down towards the Nevada desert, the femme scanning the area for a good area to land before spotting a decent size crevasse carved into the side of one of the flat topped mountains. It would have to do and was just big enough to fit her personal ship, carefully lowering it down just as the fuel sensors started blarring a final warning that fuel was just about out.
Engines kicking off, the ship plopped down roughly into the space, causing it to shake and Moonracer to almost fall from her chair, but luckily holding onto the armrests. “Best landing I’ve had in years.” She mused before switching everything off except the communication hub, tapping a button as she stood. “This is Moonracer of the Wreckers and Velocitrionian ambassador, if any Autobots can hear me over these frequencies I have just made planet fall. I am sending my coordinates now.” Moonracer sent across the com-channels before finally exiting her ship.
Her feet met fine rocky grains of sand, giving it a tap with her foot before glancing around. “Almost reminds me of home.” She spoke to herself, tone almost wistful and saddened, missing Velocitron dearly but she knew she had other duties now aside from those of her being an ambassador. For now, she shook such thoughts aside, turning back to her ship and starting to check that there were no problems from making planet fall.
Override dropped absolutely everything except for Shane when she heard the transmission, gunning it at full speed out of Crown City. The Velocitronian leader very nearly forgot to engage her internal inertia dampeners for her passenger's sake, noticing just in time that she'd reached over 800 mph once she hit the open desert. Boy was she excited as all hell; Override hadn't had a chance to speak with her best friend in what felt like eons, and now she was coming straight to Earth? Such an opportunity could not be passed up.
By the time Moonracer's ship came into view, there was a miniature dust storm following in Override's wake. It wasn't a race, but that didn't stop her from trying to pass it off as one. There had to have been other Autobots who'd heard her friend's signal, but she would not allow another spark to greet her first.
The bot was still a distance away when she energetically shouted, "Moonracer!"
Hot Shot knew a good number of Wreckers, but there were so many more that he never got the chance to meet. Ones like Wheeljack had been somewhat of a legend to him, and some he was even getting to meet now that he was on Earth. The planet was definitely full of surprises. Getting to meet the one mech he looked up to the most, getting to race one of the most famous racers of Velocitron? How did it any cooler than that?
A message from another Wrecker, of course!
Wasting little time, he had that ground bridge open from the Autobot base (after being threatened with a wrench) so he could meet up with this Moonracer. Once he got to the location he was dropped off at, he looked around until he could find a ship or something. Didn't take him long to find it, but there was something a little more surprising at the scene. It wasn't just a mysterious femme who he could assume was Moonracer.
Override was there too.
Transforming into his vehicle mode, Hot Shot drove up to the two femmes at full speed, swinging around in a half donut before going back to root mode. Talk about being a show-off.
All he really knew was that Override was more excited than usual. And if had something to do with someone named Moonracer. What I’m Earth was going on, he wondered as they made the approach to... wherever they were. All he knew was that a part of him was excited to meet more Autobots if nothing else.
Leaning back, he decided to ultimately broach the subject with Override from sheer curiosity. “So, who exactly IS Moonracer?”
Moonracer was carefully running her hand over the surface of the ship, brushing away some scorch marks from when she entered the atmosphere. There was always some burning when entering orbit, and it annoyed her to all hell since it could be a pain to be rid of. Though, moment she started brushing some of it off that was when a familiar voice broke the desert silence and caused her to perk up. Immediately she was peeking around the ship, spotting a small dust storm being kicked up by someone coming in hot and coming in fast.
But that voice...could it be? Moonracer immediately focused her optics towards the little dust storm, picking up a red and white car heading her way. "Override?!" Moonracer gasped with shock, quickly coming from the ship just in time to meet her friend and there was no hesitation the moment Override transformed. She threw her arms around the taller femme, laughing with joy to see such a familiar face after so long. "By the Primes, it is you!" Moonracer couldn't believe her optics! She in fact failed to notice the human with her friend, turning to look down at the organic being with curious optics, squatting down to his level and chuckling, "We're old friends actually, go way back on our home planet. Guessing you're a friend of hers?" She asked Shane in response.
No sooner had she asked did someone else coming speeding up, causing Moonracer to lift her gaze towards the approaching Hot Shot who was more than glad to show off. Well, least the Autobots never ceased to be amusing and she couldn't help the small grin forming on her face at the half-donut he did. "Nice form," She remarked towards him as she stood straight, "And that would be me yes. What might be your name?"
A bright smirk found its way to Override's face as the two Velocitronians embraced each other. She squeezed Moonracer tightly, a collection of the past history between the two femme's rushing back before her. Override hadn't been expecting to see any familiar faces on her trip to Earth, so this was an unexpected pleasure. She broke off from the hug to glance back down at Shane, then back to Moonracer, "Shane here's been helping me to used to Earth; I'm here for diplomatic reasons, you see..."
Her attention was broken as another familiar sound graced her audials, looking over to see Hot Shot's distinct outline speeding over to the trio. So he was the first Autobot to respond; good, she enjoyed the company of a fellow speedster, Velocitronian or not.
"This is Hot Shot, he's a good friend of mine," Override answered with a smile, wrapping her arm around the blue Autobot's shoulders, playfully tugging him close.
Just as Hot Shot was about to introduce himself to Moonracer, he suddenly found himself in the grip of Override. A startled noise escaped him, but he didn't fight her off. The startled expression switched to a nervous, but happy one.
"Well.. we only raced the one time, but yeah. Nice to meet'cha, Moonracer."
There did, however, seem to be one extra individual here, and they were quite small compared to the three of them. Curious, Hot Shot knelt down so he could get a better look at Shane. Considering his time on Earth, he really hadn't interacted with a human before. He'd heard about them, and seen them from time to time around the Autobot base, but just hadn't had the chance to really get to know one. Better late than never.
Shane smiled as he watched the three interact, although he gave a small, shy wave and a “Hi.” When he was greeted by and then introduced to Moonracer. He sudddenly felt, well, very small between the three of them. Though his eyes were definitely big when the bigger, male one spoke to him. Of course, a part of him wanted to back up a little. But at the same time his car form had been pretty awesome. And moreover, he seemed friendly.
After taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, he nodded to them. “Well I uh, guess any friends of Override are friends of mine. Uh, nice to meet you guys,” he chuckled a little nervously. “Sorry still getting used to the idea of being surrounded by well... Giant alien robots”
Moonracer couldn’t help but chuckle at Hot Shot’s surprise in being grabbed suddenly by Override, knowing the femme wasn’t short of being forward. “Pleasure to meet you Hot Shot, glad to see some Autobots have a love for speed.” Moonracer grinned once more, glad that her message had reached the audials of friends and allies rather than enemies. Not that she couldn’t have handled an enemy or two by herself. But she certainly wasn’t in the best position to face several if they had gotten the transmission somehow. But, she kept these thoughts to herself as she looked down at Shane.
“Don’t worry Shane, we don’t bite. All you really have to worry about with us is a few speed freaks tearing up the desert.” She assured him, a hint of playfulness in her voice. But she could see with how small and fragile these humans looked they would definitely have to be mindful how they moved or where they stepped. Still, it was good to see that her long time best friend has been able to see what was beyond Velocitron like she had had the chance to. But she had always made sure to tell Override if she was going to be gone for long periods of time, and her last time had turned out being far longer than expected.
In fact, she turned her attention back to Override, now curious about some things. “You said you came here for diplomatic reasons didn’t you, Override? Is everything still okay at home?” The smaller racer inquired. She trusted Override like no one else and had confidence that if any trouble was brewing the Velocitronian leader was more than a capable of handling it. But, that didn’t stop Moonracer from wondering if everything was alright at home.
Override took heed at the mention of their homeworld. No doubt seeing one's leader so far from home would stir up some concern. She folded her arms, scratching her chin with her free hand. "Well, Ransack recently tried to get famous again by starring in his own comedy routine with Crumplezone, but that's nothing to knock a tire at."
"But... I came to Earth to talk with the Autobots about a few choice gravitational waves we picked up back home."
Seemed that this Shane kid wasn't quite used to the Autobots just yet, which meant that he must have only just found out who they were. Sometimes things just took time, and that was one of the things Hot Shot was gonna have to give the kid. "Don't worry, little guy. We're not gonna hurt ya."
He was curious though about Moonracer and Override. They definitely knew each other considering they were talking it up like they were old chums. That or.. it was a femme thing. Sometimes it was really just that hard to tell when it came to femmes. Gossip always played a key factor in it all.
"So, uh... how do you you two know each other out of curiosity?" Something told him that maybe Shane would like to know as well, but Hot Shot just couldn't help his curiosity.
Shane relaxed a bit. They definitely seemed friendly at least, though his trust in general was hard to place some days. He’d met a lot of “nice” people before that had turned out to be anything but. He straightened a bit as he tried to keep up with their conversation, listening closely to Override’s explanation of being on Earth. He was surprised, it was the first time she brought it up but it definitely was an interesting explanation to day the least.
He put his hands in his jacket pockets, then decided he might as well say something to add to the conversation. “So you all like racing like Override then?” Was his curious question. “Or is the speed demon thing just a thing with Autobots that turn into cars?”
“I’m surprised they never started sooner, those two were always regular comedians.” Moonracer giggled softly, remembering that despite Ransack’s desires and aspirations that had triggered a civil war on their home, he unfortunately had the knack for being a comedic relief. So did his usual partner in crime Crumplezone. But the smile quickly faded. Gravitational waves? That didn’t sound good, but then again it could probably just a cosmic phenomenon they were picking up back home.
Moonracer was about to ask more but Hot Shot and Shane were giving their own curious questions. This would have to be a matter saver for another time that she could actually speak with Override. “Me and Override go way back Hot Shot. We met after a race on Velocitron, before our own war broke out. You could say we clicked almost instantly after we got to talking.” Moonracer explained with a smile, recalling the simplier days on their home, before the tension and getting involved with the Autobots and Decepticons and their war. Not that Moonracer regretted getting involved honestly.
But she also looked at down at Shane, “I can’t exactly speak for all Autobots who take on forms like ours Shane, but on Velocitron, racing is the center of our life. A vast majority of those back home are speed freaks, save for those rare few.” Moonracer explained, though there was enthusiasm to her voice there was a hint of longing as well, since she had not been home for quite some time. To say she was a bit homesick was an understatement.
"I have to say, you were the last person I expected to see on Earth, Moonracer; a pleasant surprise if ever I've had one," she smiled. By Primus it was already setting in. She needed to race her best friend again! But they both had incredibly important jobs to do which Override would respect regardless of her obsession! Unless Moonracer was down for a race or twelve anyway. Hot Shot could come, too.
"We need to have a race again sometime soon, whenever we have a spot of free time."
Nope, couldn't hold it in.
