Player Alias: Jaxrond
Character Name: Rodimus
Eternal Nickname: Turbo Revvin' Young Punk
Allegiance: Autobots
Appearance Description:
Rodimus is a slightly taller than average bot, with flame colored plating. His armor too, seems to be styled after flames, rising up in sharp points, with equally sharp finials on his helm. His optics are light blue and set into a pale faceplate. He is humanoid in his build, with a rather slender racer's figure. Rodimus' spoiler is set onto his back in a wing-like manner, though seems to grant more maneuverability than, say, a seeker's wings or Praxian's doorwings. Build aside, everything about Rodimus's frame is highly stylized, making him very unique in his appearance.
Altmode:
A highly stylized Lamborghini Centenario

Personality:
Childish - Proud - Charismatic - Immature - Arrogant - Self-sacrificing- Noble - Impatient - Glory hound - Observant
Rodimus is, in a colloquial term, a man-child. An inspirational leader until one gets to know him, he has a bad habit of procrastinating to the point that work simply doesn't get done. Despite his obvious immaturity and self-centered nature, Rodimus has an extraordinarily high amount of charisma. He's also rather good at knowing what to say and when to say it due to a heightened attunement to how others work as individuals. Given enough time with someone, he'll quickly learn just how to interact with that person in the most favorable way.
That said, Rodimus himself does not like to be read. He's difficult to get a read on in the first place, and few ever get an accurate one. And, really, that's the way he likes it. At spark, underneath all the other layers of obnoxious personality, Rodimus has a truly good spark. He is not above extreme self-sacrifice, as seen many times throughout his time with the Autobots. While he often brags about how he carried the matrix for a time, he understands the responsibility this has brought him. Optimus is the matrix carrier, and is thus the standard Rodimus holds himself to. While, yes, there is glory in being a leader, if Rodimus perceives that he has fallen short in his leadership, he will embark on one of his infamous 'Rodimus Sulks'. He wants to be truly great, and has a genuine desire to do good for others even to the point of risking his life.
Strengths:
Charisma- Rodimus has an insane amount of natural charisma. He's capable of making a lot of stuff sound really good, and even getting people to follow him on crazy quests (looking back, many aren't even sure why they followed this doofus). Not even his childish personality can offset his charisma. As Drift once said: "He'll be fine as long as he can open his mouth. He can talk his way out of [anything]"
Observation- As selfish as he is, Rodimus is by no means unaware of the personalities and quirks of those around him. He's fantastic at 'getting a read' on another individual, and even acting on his observations in order to influence them in a favorable way. Unfortunately, he himself is the weak point in this ability.
Spur of the Moment- While this may be a double-edged sword, Rodimus is incredibly 'gifted' at making split second decisions. His quick thinking has gotten him out of a lot of tight spots.
Loyalty- Rodimus is intensely loyal to the Autobot cause and to Optimus Prime. While he is now an Autobot leader himself, and did carry the Matrix, he still does not see himself as equal to Optimus. His respect for the bot means that when Optimus says 'follow me', Rodimus says 'sure'. Rodimus is also the type who will go out of his way to aid others, robotic or organic, simply because that's what Autobots do. Plus, he looks super badass when saving the innocent.
Speedster- Rodimus' altmode is fast. It would definitely take someone equally fast to keep up with him or even try to catch him when he gets going in vehicle mode.
Weaknesses:
Childishness- His personality loses him a lot of respect, to be blunt. On board the Lost Light, Ultra Magnus and Drift do have to sit on him a bit to keep him from spontaneously abandoning ship to go comet-surfing more often than not. His short attention span, refusal to do work, tendency to sulk, and disregard as anything complexly scientific as 'magic' has earned him the ire of many aboard the ship.
Sounded Good at the Time- Rodimus has a lot of ideas...not all of them are actually very smart, i.e.: the entire Lost Light quest. But, his impulsiveness means that he runs with them anyway.
Too Fab- Rodimus is good looking and charismatic and he knows it. His ego is likely bigger than the ship itself, which is definitely saying something. Poke at his pride, and you'll bring on one of the infamous Rodimus Sulks, wherein which he will hide away in his quarters for, possibly, weeks at a time.
Abilities:
Outlier(?) Ability- Though it is unknown if this is an outlier ability or not, Rodimus is capable of 'flaming out'. He is able to ignite in an explosive blast of fire, doing heavy damage to anyone too close to him. This ability means that his internal temperature runs just a little bit hotter than normal.
Weaponry:
Hand-to-hand- Rodimus has shown himself to be quite capable in unarmed combat, though, his style is more brawling than trained finesse.
Heat Wave- The piping on Rodimus's forearms emits concentrated blasts of fire, hot enough to melt medium plating at close range. Heavy plating would take time and energy that is rarely had in battle.
Sharp Edge- Rodimus's piping on his arms can be switched with a set of three blades on each arm. These blades are long and spike-like and extend to cover his hands. A punch from these will definitely hurt.
History:
(*Note: This history follows the IDW comic series and is a very brief summary of a great many plot-related events)
Originally called Hot Rod, Rodimus made his debut into the political and military spotlight before the war even truly began. In his own timeline, Orion Pax was given a mission by Zeta Prime to hunt Hot Rod down and kill him due to his involvement in a rebel faction in Nyon. Orion and his Autobots followed Hot Rod's trail back to an ancient city called Acroplex, a district in Nyon, not realizing that the young bot fully intended to be tailed in order to show the Autobots the state of those oppressed by the Autocracy. While Orion was still within the city, Nyon was attacked by Zeta Prime and his Omega Destroyers. Buying Hot Rod some time to get his people out of the city, the Autobots found themselves severely outgunned and failed to bring down even one Omega. In a last ditch effort, Hot Rod blew a number of pre-planted charges within the city, killing everyone therein and saving their sparks from whatever ends Zeta Prime would have used them for.
Though he still agrees that this was necessary, and preferable to letting Zeta control Nyon, the amount of innocent energon this event left on his servos still haunts him.
Much later, when Autobots and Decepticons joined forces to combat the autocracy, Hot Rod was among those who stepped forth to fight. He subsequently joined the Autobot side when the Decepticons betrayed them, quickly working his way up through the Autobot leadership and even, at one point, becoming the commander of a team of his own. This post was lost as quickly as it was granted, however, because of his reckless tendencies. It was at some point in this time that he changed his name to 'Rodimus', fully demonstrating his desire to follow in Optimus' footsteps and become a Prime. Rodimus did, at one point, join the Autobots on Earth to aid in the fighting there. Soon, after though, he returned to space, hunting alone for the Matrix of Leadership, which had been stolen by the Decepticons. After battling Starscream and stealing it back, Rodimus was mortally wounded by Megatron and left to float in the void. The Matrix bonded to Rodimus' body, keeping him impossibly online until a series of events led him to be rescued by his fellow Autobots.
Rodimus returned the Matrix to Optimus Prime and returned with the Autobots to Cybertron. There, he assisted in saving their homeworld and was present when Optimus used the Matrix to resurrect it. Afterward, when the Autobots began the attempt to create some sort of centralized governmental power, Rodimus joined Drift in advocating that a quest to find the Knights of Cybertron be launched. Surely, if anyone could return Cybertron to what it was meant to be, it was the Knights. He then left Cybertron, a Matrix-made map in hand, with Drift, Ultra Magnus, and a number of volunteers. On board the ship, the Lost Light, Rodimus has captained the quest, serving as the Autobot leader of his small faction. Recently, his quest has been interrupted by a rift in space. Upon venturing through, he found himself back in Earth's vicinity, and has made his way to the planet's surface to ascertain just what is going on...
