Jetfire's eyes widened at his apparent mistaken assumption. Perhaps he'd simply assumed that since Ratchet was a little bit bigger than Wheeljack that he'd been the carrier instead. To be fair, there hadn't been a lot of sparklings or carriers for Jetfire to compare Ratchet and Wheeljack to, present conditions being what they were. "My mistake, Ratchet." But then it hit him, "I can't even imagine Wheeljack carrying a sparkling."

He was more than happy that Ratchet chose to move the conversation away from his little lapse in judgement, more towards a subject he was happy to discuss. "If I can handle Fortress Maximus barking orders in my ear, I can handle Nightshade; especially since she likes me this much."

Ratchet completely understood how Jetfire had come to that assumption and wasn't going to fault him for it either way.  There had been a point early on in the carry that Ratchet had wanted to transfer the newspark to himself because he knew what it was doing to Wheeljack, but it wasn't a safe thing to do.  He let his Conjunx carry, and he was there to help him through as much of it as he could.

He would've preferred to have been there more, but Jazz had put a stop to that one.

"I'll do my best to make sure she doesn't turn into a wild child, but she definitely doesn't seem to be that way at the moment.  She's genuinely interested in so much and wants to learn.  There's just only so much she can learn as a sparkling though.  Maybe when she's a bit older."  The CMO chuckled to himself as he continued to rock the sleeping Nightshade.

"I'm glad you're willing to help look after her, Jetfire.  That means a lot to me."
