Player Alias: cataclysmicseraph
Character Name: Ruminator
Allegiance: Decepticon
Appearance Description:
Standing at 25 feet with broad shoulders and chestplating, Ruminator is, to some, an intimidating mech, not helped by his usually dour expression. Deep indigo armor is offset by translucent aqua accents on his arms and legs, allowing glimpses into his frame. On his back is a large teal spoiler, and on his chestplating and helm, a chevron each, both the same aqua color as the translucent bits of his frame. In the middle of his chest chevron lies his Decepticon insignium, which he sports proudly. His optics are bright red and his helm has an aqua-colored finial on each side. Both his servos and collar are violet.
His alt mode is a deep blue Corvette, similar to this, with a high rear spoiler.
Personality:
Generally stern and no-nonsense, Ruminator outwardly appears extremely loyal to the cause and would gladly give everything he had for it. While this is ordinarily correct, he isn't above acting in his own interests. They just so happen to align with those of his superiors most of the time. It can be hard to get on his good side (some even wonder if he has one), but if someone manages to do so, they may be surprised at what they find: a wry, deadpan sense of humor hidden beneath a deep scowl, a rumbling tone, and a businesslike and relatively polite demeanor. Just don't disturb him if he's working or deep in thought-- doing so could be dangerous.
Being a scientist, particularly a weapons scientist, he tends to have a lot of unique toys at his disposal. Ones that he chooses to test himself, usually by having the experimental devices added to his frame. Though he calls it research, it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to call it an addiction. Research and experimentation have led him down the path of augmentations, even ones that would generally be deemed unwise or unsafe. He tends to switch them out quickly, settling for a minimalistic approach at the moment, but he's already itching to change that.
Strengths:
Gentleman And A Scholar: Polite, well-read, and most of the time softspoken.
Misery Builds Character: In the face of the personal hardships he's been through, he has become more resolute and devoted to what he believes in.
Determinator: When he has a goal in mind, he won't let anything stop him from reaching it.
Wise Beyond Their Years: Despite his demeanor and the knowledge he has, he is comparatively not very old, and his relative youth lends him a significant degree of mental flexibility.
Genius Bruiser: Quite strong and looks it, while also being pretty intelligent.
Weaknesses:
Descent Into Addiction: What started out as curiosity has spiralled into a full-blown augmentation addiction that is beginning to control his life.
Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Uses his prickly exterior to hide the fact that he has not worked through some things in his past that he'd rather not talk about.
Workaholic: Buries himself in his work for greatly extended periods of time, often neglecting his basic needs.
I Work Alone: Prefers to work without the company of others, though he often finds himself putting up with them anyway.
Neat Freak: Meticulous and fastidious to the point of obsession.
Abilities:
Resourcefulness: Even in seemingly hopeless situations, Ruminator will always try to use anything at his disposal to get out of it. And that does mean anything.
Sketching: Ages of practice designing weapons blueprints has given Ruminator a steady hand and a secret passion for drawing.
Resilience: A high pain tolerance and even higher determination, coupled with some thick plating, makes this mech a difficult one to take down.
Weaponry:
Current Firepower: Two retractable shoulder-mounted turrets. Small retractable plasma rifle in his right wrist, put there in a recent experiment.
Current Precision Tools: A laser cutter in his right index digit, ineffective for combat unless at close range.
History:
Forged in Tarn before the war, Ruminator was quite young when he first heard Megatron's speeches. Young... and impressionable. Being a tinkerer by nature and always having a scientific mind motivated Ruminator to put his expertise and knowledge, as well as his insatiable curiosity, to work for the Decepticon cause.
Initially, his inventions were of a somewhat less destructive nature-- helping to devise defensive systems for ships and the like. His true passion began to shine through, however, when he started experimenting with weapons more heavily. Through dismantling, assembling, and diagramming weapons, Ruminator honed his expertise with them and started making his own. Over time, they got bigger, more complex, and more dangerous. Some he deemed unusable on the battlefield just for how gruesome they were.
That is, until recently. A significant loss to him rendered him jaded and even more cynical than before, with the loss of his conscience. Since the incident in question, the disappearance of a dear friend at the hands of someone he used to work under, Ruminator has thrown himself headfirst into his work. Every weapon he adds to his frame brings him one step closer to his own personal goals of finding the one who wronged him and exacting what he believes to be appropriate retribution. Though he may lose sight of everything else, he will never lose sight of two things: this goal, and the cause to which he has devoted his life.
