Player Alias: Jaxrond
Character Name: Brainstorm
Allegiance: Autobots
Appearance Description:
Brainstorm is a bot of average height, about the same size as Perceptor. His plating is primarily blue and grey, though his faceplates are a contrasting orange. As a bot with a flying altmode, his wings are visible and set into a rather traditional place on his back in his root mode. He lacks the somewhat bulky build of the Vosian Seekers, making it unlikely that he was modeled after them.
Personality:
Brainstorm is smart, smarter than well, everyone (Perceptor's a close second, he will admit). And, no, he doesn't need you to explicitly acknowledge his genius (though it would be nice from time to time, Rodimus). It's just...you would be wise in doing so. After all, he is a genius, and therefore knows vastly more than you do.
His pride and intellect aside, Brainstorm is the type of bot who literally cannot be still. He's always working on something, and it's likely an experimental, and highly dangerous, weapon. Please don't wander into his lab unannounced, he's a very busy bot and he would really rather you not touch something that could, say, introduce you to the world of metafiction.
Though he certainly doesn't seem to, Brainstorm is the type of bot who cares deeply for others. He has only a few friends, but it's those people he would do literally anything for. Expect a lot of odd, but probably very useful, gifts if you're on that list. His tendency to care deeply ends up
Surprisingly for a weapons designer and a bot with his history, Brainstorm has never actually killed anyone. In fact, he's more than a bit of a coward. Yes, he'll fight when the need arises. But, he would much rather give someone else one of those very dangerous weapons he's just thought up. You're a fairly capable soldier? Here you go! It may or may not do something terrible and likely unnatural to someone, but, remember, all's fair in love and war...and science.
Strengths:
Ship's Genius: Brainstorm's intellect covers a vast array of fields. Though he specializes in weapons, he is able to work with a great number of other things as well. Among those are quantum engines, holomatter generators, interdimensional portals,
Been Around a While: Four million years is a lot of time to learn things. He's picked up a lot of experience and knowledge in that time. Some of it...probably not so great.
Honestly Your Best Friend: That ability to care deeply makes Brainstorm a great asset to a select few people. If he likes you, oh, yeah, he'll make sure that you're taken care of. Which means he's a great asset to a team. Looking for that totally unnecessary upgrade? Please, step into my office. Are you sure you don't want complimentary rocket boosters as well? No? Shame.
Weaknesses:
I Know, I'm Far Too Smart: His pride is part of the reason he struggles with people. It takes a while to get past all that bravado and find the bot who honestly gets excited over the possibilities of everything.
Morals, You Say?: Brainstorm's got no qualms about making some pretty amoral decisions. To him, science is more a question of 'is it possible?' than 'should it be possible?', and 'why not?' instead of 'why?'. That make him...a little untrustworthy.
But...I Loved You: Caring deeply about others is a double-edged sword. Yes, he's an asset. But, if he loses someone close to him? Immediate emotional shutdown. And he's just crazy enough to build, or try, something truly terrible in response to the loss.
Abilities:
Science: 'nuff said
Weaponry:
Brainstorm, surprisingly, is unarmed most of the time. He doesn't like to carry a gun. Designing one is a blast, shooting it? Not so much. That isn't to say that he won't. Or that he doesn't have backup weapons built into his frame. But, using them is another matter. What he does have is a briefcase. A very mysterious briefcase that may or may not be a weapon but, knowing him, likely is.
History:
Despite reports of his presence among the Autobots at their formation as a faction, and a number of the pre-war antiapartheid marches, Brainstorm was constructed cold as a MTO for Operation: Solar System, thus making him warborn. Originally, he was named Genitus, and his genius made him a prime candidate for recruitment into the New Institute alongside bots like Chromedome and Highbrow. It was within the New Institute that he developed his sense of amorality. It was also there that he grew to have a close friendship with Chromedome, a fellow employee, even after the other left the New Institute.
At some point later in the war, Brainstorm was sent to Kimia, where he worked to design weapons and technology for the Autobots. More often than not, his weapons were regarded as too unconventional and never approved. He never let this deter him, however, and continued to dream up outlandish weaponry and technology, earning himself a status of infamy in the Autobot ranks. After the invasion of Kimia, Brainstorm was left as a free agent until he joined the crew of the Lost Light.
