Characters: Open Location: Jasper, Nevada Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Chris decides to take his chances in order to explore his new surroundings a bit more.
A little dangerous? Maybe. But all the same, Chris was out in town on his own.
The way he saw it, he knew he could get a hold of the Autobots if and when MECH showed up. And Chris really never had explored Jasper too much, so he’d finally let curiosity get the better of him. It wasn’t a big deal really he figured, he was simply looking forward to finding out what the town had to offer.
So far, the answer was “not much”. It reminded him of the old towns in movies. Small, kind of dull, and even a little stereotypical. Unless you counted the fact it pretty much held one gigantic secret, of course. For now though, he was settling for grabbing an ice cream and taking his mid afternoon stroll. Planning to go back to the Autobot base, at least before too long. But who knew what interesting things he might find along the way in the meantime.
He was just like her, in a way; an oddity. He was human, yet he carried a Cybertronian spark within him like he'd crawled out of the Well. Pulsar just had to know more about him, her curiosity demanded nothing less. Besides, he might be a good way to get a message through to the Autobots.
The little hybrid might sense her own spark if she approached him as a human herself, so she opted for the more conventional approach. Her appropriated Chevy C7 Corvette would do the trick for this occasion. The black and silver corvette was simply driving around Jasper with an Autobot insignia proudly displayed on her chest, looking for her target. Pulsar didn't have the whole story about the boy, but she had a few details. His name was Chris, and the Autobots had taken him in like one of their own. It wasn't much, but it was enough.
She waited until he was reasonably isolated on the sidewalk, obscured on both sides by several buildings. Then she made her move. The corvette initially drove past Chris like it was no big deal, casually flashing the Autobot logo on her bumper as she passed by. Then, she stopped and slowly backed up to him, like she was an actual Autobot who'd just detected a spark inside of a random human.
"I can't help but notice you're a human walking around with a Spark inside your chest; I'm not going crazy, am I?" the car asked, her voice smooth like fresh snow.
Being on the road was exhilarating enough. He rather that than sit around and do nothing. Yet the past few days had him sitting around and watching a monitor to see where the most Cybertronian activities were, even if they were blips at times. He eventually discovered a series of events happening mostly around Jasper Nevada. Sadly his equipment could only register the "louder" events.
In his newly acquired vehicular form... Something racey and not so discrete. He took the winding roads of the desert to Jasper. He passed many who honked or few who took pictures of such a fantastic car that zipped about. Soon enough the Bentley Speed 8 came to a crawl to what it was doing on those highways and roadways.
What a sleepy little town he thought. Something so slow and yet yielded the highest concentration of interactions. Two as far as he could record. Or was it three? Still, he patrolled the roadways with an intent to find something.
His career on Velocitron allowed him some gadgets. Such as trackers for Cybertronian tech. Yet the readings were wonky here. A turn here, a merge left, and soon he came to a park at a corner of a street. So close, a few hundred meters away. These readings so close yet so obscure. He took it cautiously now and waited, observing what his targets may contain. Such targets were even in his view as he stayed put, watching.
Chris almost stopped as he noticed the “Autobot” driving alongside him. After a moment, noticing the corvette alt mode, he gave it a once over. Wondering how well it drove. Was it as nice as a Stingray? Maybe he’d probably have to drive to know the difference... Wait, he didn’t drive and he’d never driven a Corvette. What was he thinking?
He shook himself out of his rather odd thoughts and sense of deja vu.
Instead he turned to the Corvette with a smile, and he continued down the road hardly noticing being watched. “Oh hey, you must be new. Yeah, I got a spark, long story I’m sort of human, sort of a Cyborg,” he looked thoughtful. “I’m still figuring it out myself...”
He then added. “So what brings you to the town? Patrol?”
"New and on perpetual patrols, thanks to Ultra Magnus. I'm Crosswise, by the way; I take it Earth normally doesn't have walking Cybertronian hybrids unless I slept through that part of the briefing."
'Crosswise' slowly followed next to Chris as he walked down the street, listening intently. He was a hybrid alright, although Pulsar was more interested in what had turned him into one. Her Mutacon body afforded her a 360 degree field of vision, which managed to spot the slightly out of place racecar behind them, keeping an eye on it.
Best case scenario, it was just another Autobot on patrol. Worst case scenario, she'd have to pony up and fight a Decepticon to maintain her cover.
He had been itching to get his legs on the road for a while now. Yet his anxiousness had him standing out in the open rather foolishly. He cursed silently to himself before he refocused on the situation at hand.
These two were talking and not really going anywhere. Odd. What were they talking about? He wanted to know now, wanting to interact with non fleshies. He grew anxious again and that had his engine purring a bit. Until it grew too much.
His front wheels turned and he started to move towards them. Now he was on a dreadfully slow path towards them. No speeding towards them or revving his engine for ill will. Instead he approached calmly with his headlights flickering a little before cutting off.
Chris chuckled a little, clearly that was a good point. He put his hands in his pockets a moment and shook his head. “Nah, far as I can tell I’m one of a kind. Or at least no one else thinks they ran into one yet,” he explained with a shrug. “I’m not sure what to make of it personally. I kinda think it’s weird and cool all at once. Mostly kinda freaky though. I got some uh... People after me...”
That’s when he noticed the car following them. He side-eyed it from the corner of his eye, looking unsure of what to do next if this was someone like MECH or those Decepticons. He still had only minimal combat training against Bots at his best and the last thing he needed was a fight with the latter. “Is it just me or do we have a creepy tailing us?”
He was unique, at least as far as he was aware; she believed him. Whatever he really was, he warranted further observation. Crosswise stopped in her tracks as Chris also noticed the Le Mans creeping up behind them, thinking now would be a good opportunity to provoke them. She revved up her engine in response, wheeling herself around to face their stalker directly.
"Suppose it's time to find out, isn't it?" she answered back.
Now, if Chris didn't know exactly who was tailing them, it could mean either one of two things. It was just an Autobot that he hadn't been familiar with, or a Decepticon. Should it just be the former, Pulsar could pass off her hostility as being new and unfamiliar as well. If it was the latter, she had Crosswise's alt mode ready to fight.
He was obviously spotted as the two gave peculiar responses. One a glance back and the other a revved engine then aiming her vehicular form at him. How he will approach these two? Well by stopping in his tracks before turning on his headlights in broad daylight. Not very effective in flashing. But he slowly dulled their brightness till they faded. As if a signal to suggest he means no harm.
He approaches slowly unless called upon to stop.
"A treaty amongst, Foreign beings gather here, A desert beneath"
With that said, he came to a stop before them and waited for their response.
Was that poetry? That definitely was the strangest thing he’d seen in s while. Though he hoped “treaty” meant it was somehow a friendly. Crossing his arms a bit, and examining the newcomer, he’d never seen him before now. “That’s a new one... Was that a haiku?” He questioned almost skeptically. “I guess I shouldn’t be too surprise by now. I’m half giant robot, around giant robots. Of course there’s gonna be quirks.” He thought out loud.
They were reasonably isolated out in the street, so Pulsar decided it might be best if she used said opportunity to reinforce her cover. Crosswise backed up two feet before transforming, and despite their Mutacon mechanobiology, the transformation was quite natural by Cybertronian standards. She stood at roughly 16 feet tall, and sported many features typical of other Autobot vehicles: the side-door wings, the crested helmet, light blue eyes. A perfect disguise if ever Pulsar had seen one.
Crosswise stood in a loose ready position, ready to snap into action should she need to. The other bot who'd joined them was indeed speaking in haiku, which was even more perplexing; not as perplexing as a Mutacon in Autobot's clothing, however.
"I'll just take the name, don't jumble your words on my account."
The two had quite a reaction to his words. He should have suspected, not many are to his words. He kept this in mind while watching the two before him. Until one backed up to transform and the other ask two questions.
Seems the area was clear of other persons of interest and so he transformed. An explosion of silver came from the majority of green while he transforms. It was swift, precise, and immediately he was standing tall and towering a good 4 feet above the Mutacon. Just as he was there before them, his staff extended from behind him and he plucks it out to stab into the ground next to him while his free arm tucked behind his back.
Surely a Mutacon was distinct among Cybertronians. Yet he gazed at them with.. What appears to be an alien like head, shaped like a horse's skull with unblinking eyes and hardly any facial features to show much expression. Just... two length pairs of teeth that are suited for crushing anything.
"As the sun falls, Crimson hues run along high, Redline adorns me"
Now he slowly moves his hand from behind his back to hold an open palm out towards the two for their respective names.
Ok so this guy talked in Haikus... that was definitely. Well, different. So was the look of him which nearly made him jump back and shriek. Taking a deep breath, and trying to get over the initial shock of the newcomers form, he looked him over. Something told him to still be on his guard, he hadn’t encountered a Decepticon yet, but this guy screamed it.
He debated on using his real name or not. Though he supposed that using his first name wouldn’t really hurt anything. “I’m, Uh, I’m Chris.” He hesitated a bit as he said it, tilting his head. “So you’re “Redline” then?”
Elytra was hungry. She hadn't had any energon for a while now, so when she spotted two Cybertronians off in the distance, she started heading towards them.
Even though she was in her alt-mode, Elytra couldn't really be considered a robot in disguise. A giant mechanical beetle would certainly set off alarms everywhere. That is why she kept away from humans. No need to alert her prey to her presence.
Elytra crept towards them from building to building, finally ending up on a roof near the Cybertronians. What she found surprised her. The human had a spark signature too! What an interesting turn of events. She was tempted to dissect him but she had priorities. She waited at her hiding spot for the Autobot to come closer.
