Characters: Skystalker, @starsaber Location: Somewhere outside the city of Jasper and Autobot Omega-1 base Content Warnings: N/A Plot Summary: Skystalker has made friends and allies, but he has gone without proper guidance for months since coming to Earth. But, that seems about to change.
Out here, it was peaceful. Out here, he didn't have to worry about having to nearly tear up the training room when he felt in a mood and when he felt unable to focus on his research. Between his growing lack of results in getting to his creator, getting his aft handed to him by one of the Seekers, and being cooped up often, Skystalker had felt it was time he made himself busy. Somehow.
The best way he knew was actually getting outside and doing something. But it was always the same warning the moment he stepped out of the base's entrance: never be seen by any humans unless they were allies. His dragon-like form, as Dylan had called it, stuck out like a sore thumb. That was perhaps yet another added frustration to his growing list, one that annoyed him to no end. Perhaps if he felt inclined to change his form he probably could. But, there was no telling to what extent Shockwave's experiments had done to his physiology, which meant choosing a new form wasn't likely to actually happen.
It was why he was now trekking around the open desert area of Jasper, feeling the frustrations slowly coming to a boiling point. "Something will give, it has to." He muttered, wishing his luck with the Decepticons would change and he could just extract his revenge after waiting for so long. But, every time it seemed possible the opportunity slipped his grasp. Upon coming across some boulders in his walk, Skystalker found the perfect outlet for taking out his present bout of rage. With a snarl, he fired several cryo breath blasts to freeze the rocks solid before leaping forward to charge clear through the first one and transforming, sliding to a halt and transforming the moment he did.
All he could imagine was crushing some unfortunate Decepticon beneath his claws, tearing through their numbers with ease...His claws folded over his curled fists, tearing through the rocks, shattering them to pieces, growling as he struck each time, lashing his tail and breaking another two of the frozen boulders. What did it take to get what he wanted done?
Star Saber was admittedly still getting used to Jasper.
What an odd place to settle down for someone like Optimus Prime, was it not? It was nowhere near the large city that Iacon was and it was rather tiny. Both of which made him rather curious as to the story there. Though he probably understood why they stayed given their closeness to the humans there, the reason they got there must have had some story behind it.
At the moment, these were his thoughts as he flew through the skies above the desert. On his way back from his routine patrol of the area. It took him a few minutes to notice he wasn’t alone. And the other person was huge and... lizard like? What in the pit was that? He decided to lower himself down for a better look, curious to see who on Earth it was.
Transforming in for a landing, he made sure not to startle the creature too bad. After all, it seemed to have a spark. “Hault, identification?” He asked, given they were so close to base it was his job to make sure he was supposed to be there.
When Skystalker heard someone approaching, the sound of someone in flight in fact, his thoughts immediately went to fliers. Perhaps just the human military stationed not very far from the Autobot base. Or just a civilian plane. Yes, for once it could be nothing. At first, he paid the approaching craft no mind, reaching back as his tail detached from behind and lifting it in his hand, immediately swinging it downwards to smash what remained of the frozen boulders, the ice already beginning to melt from the desert heat.
It was by then he realized the aircraft was getting closer. Perhaps it was a Seeker. They didn’t have many flying allies in the Autobots, three or four at most but this didn’t sound like anyone he had heard. Every part of him telling him to be on the defensive, Skystalker turned on the spot in preparation to face potential danger until the plane before him became a bot. It took him a quick few moments to scan this mech, one he had never seen before in all his months being there. But, it didn’t take long to spot the insignia Star Saber bore, an Autobot.
Still, he didn’t relax his stance not immediately answered. He was observing the general, looking at his expression, stance, body language...he was completely calm, no signs of wanting a challenge. In fact, he seemed curious about the Predacon which began to put Skystalker at ease somewhat.
“My name is Skystalker.” He finally answered, at last relaxing and standing straight again, placing his tail back in its proper place before giving it a few flicks. “And yourself? I’ve never seen you around here before.” Skystalker inquires in return, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Star Saber carefully scanned over the Autobots, young, old, human, or otherwise he kept in his internal database.
After a moment he came across the name he was looking for, seemingly satisfied that the mech wasn’t lying. He certainly, however, had never seen anything like this before. What on Earth was Skystalker exactly? He supposed he shouldn’t be too surprised given the other Autobots had said they had a human on base that was half-Cybertronian of all things.
Carefully he put his sword back, as to show he meant the creature no harm. After all he was hardly there for a fight, considering he was most of the time a mech of peace. The last thing he wanted was to start a fight though he was more often than not someone who would not back away from it of course. Especially if he perceived a threat.
“I am Autobot General Star Saber,” he said formally. “My apologies for being so formal. I have never bore witness to a Cybertronian of your build before. As general it is my first duty to ensure the safety of those on-base.”
A general? Interesting. Skystalker has never really gotten to know any of the higher up Autobots, but this was also the first time he had ever heard of Star Saber. Knowing his luck he hardly knew the reputation of many of the Autobots, and Star Saber was probably no exception.
“Never heard of you.” Skystalker said with a shrug at first before bursting into a small laugh. “Never bore witness to someone of my frame before? You don’t say general. Unless you somehow survived countless centuries since the Predacons first walked the surface of Cybertron I doubt you among many are aware the Predacons are even back, much less what we are.” Perhaps that was a bit snide on his part, but Skystalker knew better than to hold his breathe of anyone knowing anything of the Predacons aside from his own creator. Or more accurately, he was being a smart ass as the humans called it, and he didn’t quite honestly care.
“So, Star Saber, what is your story? I’m assuming you’re a highly decorated general, several victories under your belt?” Skystalker asked as he transformed back to his dragon mode, feeling more comfortable in this state than his robot mode.
It was pretty clear to him that the mech before him had some chip on his shoulder. Most sassy enough people did. But he definitely didn’t know what to make of this his Predacon business. What on Earth was a Predacon? “A Predacon...?” He questioned, again searching his data banks. “I’m afraid I am not familiar with this species of Cybertronian. Where is it that you hail from?”
Star Saber looked curiously under his visor st the young Predacon. His story? Well that wasn’t entirely one that was all too exciting beyond what he... Ah so it was a figure of speech. Crossing his arms, he looked at the mech, he definitely was a sassy one wasn’t he? Very well, he was used to dealing with them - after all he’d dealt with Holi many a time.
“Indeed, I have traveled the many cosmos - defending who and what I could. I am also a legendary swordsman, renowned for being the “Swift Sword if Judgement”,” he explained. “It is my understanding swords often slay dragons. So it would be in your best interests to be a little less curt.” He smirked to indicate he was joking.
Well, he could give some answer couldn't he? "As one human teenager put it, Predacons are a dragon-like species from Cybertron's ancient past, before the city-states were built." Skystalker explained, pausing briefly to recall what he did know. "As for where I hail, I cannot give you a definite answer. I was hyperevolved in one of the laboratories belonging to the Decepticon scientist Shockwave before I ended up here." But then again, his thoughts went to a much different time, to low-lying valleys, soaring and hunting down Insecticons...
No, where was that coming from? Skystalker had to shake his head to clear his thoughts. Once such strange thoughts had cleared, pushed to the back of his processor, he once more focused on Star Saber, seeing if the swordsman would answer his own inquiries about him. And despite his sassy, sarcastic remarks Star Saber obliged a response.
"Can't be that legendary." Skystalker muttered, having never come across anything about Star Saber. Apparently, he had not dug all that deep into the history archives of the Autobots. Then again, he never dug that deep into many subjects unless they were of interest to the young mech, who was making a mental note to learn more about the superiors among the Autobots ranks. There was obviously something he was missing from what Star Saber had just told him. Although, his final words made him raise an optic ridge.
"Hm, yes many a story portrays knights being capable of such feats." Skystalker agreed, turning to a still frozen piece of rock that he took in his talons, "But some are not so fortunate to be a "legendary swordsman" now are they? From my understanding, some get roasted, eaten, and left as an example." Skystalker crushed the rubble to pieces, which shattered like glass into bits of dust.
Well that was certainly a different answer than what the general was expecting. Of course though, Shockwave WOULD have something to do with this. He hadn’t ever really directly encountered said mech before - but his reputation as a mad scientist just screamed “lets bring back an extinct species and see what happens”. Though Primus only knew how Skystalker somehow ended up here. It made the general wonder if the mech even knew the “Predacon” was there.
“Fascinating, you are quite the marvel then, aren’t you?” He admitted rather candidly. “Though I do wonder what would happen should you be seen by the humans not on our base. I am fairly new to Earth - but research tells me you would not be a common sight.”
He gave a small smirk at the young Predacon’s notion. Perhaps there was a bit of cockiness there - but he knew a thing or two about that himself. So he definitely would not condemn him. “Perhaps, but there are far fewer of those variations around,” he explained rather coyly. “Either way we should both be thankful we are on the same side.”
“They believe me one of their myths come to life.” Skystalker responded, having already had said experience before. He could recall that short time after arriving to Earth somehow, when he had been desperate enough to approach the humans. He had needed help, lost and confused on where he was or what was happening. But their faces of shock and terror still showed clearly into his processor. “It is because of their reactions I rarely, if ever, show my face to our human allies. I have only ever met one of them.” Skystalker explained, optic ridges furrowing slightly.
But, he put his focus back on Star Saber, now being the one to listen once more. So, the general still had banter to respond with. Sky stalker couldn’t help the amused grin that formed, revealing his sharp fangs. “You act as if you could hold your own against a real dragon general. Perhaps you are the one knight who would slay the dragon and take his hoard hm?” Skystalker teased, his tone a little more light hearted and a faint chuckle following. Maybe the general wasn’t so far fetched after all.
But it did beg the question if Star Saber could back up the big talk. “Say then general, how about a friendly little match? If you are as legendary as you say you are this should be no sweat to you. The Knight of Justice against the ice breathing walking fossil.” Skystalker exaggerates his words much like one of those spokes people for a sporting event, beginning to circle Star Saber, mockingly stalking him and watching his movements if he chose to go along with the challenge.
“Ah and what human ally was that?” He had a feeling he knew. He too had encountered Dylan, who had dubbed him something straight out of Gundam. Which, through his research - had made a substantial amount of sense. “Is it the one we recently adopted onto the base, Dylan? He seems to be the type to throw Earth mythology around often.”
He gave a silent snort at the thought of slaying dragons or getting hoards. As if he had time for that, he really was not the glory hoarding sort. But all the same, the mental image was pretty amusing, he had to admit. “I don’t i would have time for the hoarde but it would highly depend on the threat the dragon posed to others.” Of course his honorable side shone through.
At the mention of a spar, his smirk broadened. He was quite the cocky young dragon wasn’t he? Yet the thought did amuse him a bit. And maybe he could show him what exactly it was that he meant with his own skill. “Very well, I will indulge you,” he explained. “I’ll be sure to go easy on you as apparently you liken yourself to an old timer.” He teased.
When Star Saber mentioned Dylan, Skystalker paused for a moment in surprise before he gave a nod, "Yea he's one of them. I believe other humans I've encountered have mentioned it, just in another language." Skystalker confirmed. At least Skystalker was no the only one that Dylan was coming up with things for. But, he had no idea what the heck a Gundam was so he made a note to peek at such a thing later.
"Well, if you want to get technical." Skystalker said with a shrug before he began circling Star Saber. "I do have the CNA of an old Predacon long extinct encoded in me, so I suppose you could say its not far off." But it was then Skystalker narrowed his optics, preparing to strike. "But, more of that later. Time for me to kick your aft half way across the desert!" It was not a real threat. Skystalker's playfulness, though rare, could be heard underlying his words. And the dragon-former charged forward, head down and going in for a headbutt against the so called legendary swordsman.
Star Saber nodded in response, understanding what he meant. Many humans had different words for them - he’d heard everything from their human allies already. Though he did take notice of the confusion on his face. “Well of course, most humans would. It is the natural question of a human,” he then questioned. “You seem surprised by my mention of Dylan. We’re you not already aware of his presence on base? I believe he’s been officially living with us, or rather Pharma for several weeks now.”
The mech smirked as he mentioned his CNA however. It was rather interesting, he figured, honestly though it did leave a lot of perplexing questions however. Like where said CNA came from innthe fiest place. “Quite interesting, I will have questions for this after...” he kept to the side and quickly prepared a sharp kick for the younglings legs. “After I’ve shown you a thing or two.”
Skystalker had gone in for a lung, only to be knocked head over heels by the sharp kick to his legs, landing hard on his back. Well, he had kind of charged right into that one, and he could only glare up towards Star Saber, concentrating cryo energy towards his chest, "I met Dylan at base, that much I was aware of. I didn't realize he was already living there." Skystalker told the older mech, but a fanged grin came to his face.
"Tell me, have you ever been ice skating?" Skystalker didn't wait for an answer as he shot a blast of his cryo fire at Star Saber's feet, aiming at the sand beneath his feet to freeze it over. He didn't know if it would really freeze over and trip up the swordsman, but catching him off guard was better then nothing. Moment the fire had left his maw though, Skystalker was turning back onto his feet and flying at Star Saber, intending to tackle him to the ground.
