A new thing Dylan learned about living in a Cybertronian family: they gave punishments the same as human parents.
Pharma hasn’t been thrilled when he found out Dylan had talked Bumblebee into street racing. He probably should have been grounded, but apparently instead he thought about having him help to clean the base.
Greattttt.
He was nearly done. Being it was Saturday, he’d started early - but god he was tired. This base was huge, and though he only had to help it was definitely the definition of a chore. So about now, he’d decided to just say screw it near the end of the control room.
Aka listening to his iPod while doing pretty much everything but working. Given the control room was hardly busy right now he doubted anyone would notice. Or at least he could hope not...

It wasn't long before Dylan wasn't the only one in the control room anymore. Even being as tall as she was Arcee was able to move quieter then most of her teammates. Cerulean optics watched the human teenager as he listened to his music arms folded across her chest. She'd seen the human teens get bored when they were told to do something and decide not to do it. They usually headed to the rec room and video game system trying furiously to beat one another.
"They'll never learn." Arcee quipped quietly to herself.
The fem shook her head and unfolded her arms moving to stand just behind the young man. With those tiny earpieces in he wouldn't have been able to hear her anyway. She didn't vibrate the ground like some other cybertronian's did. One hand settled against a hip and the autobot tilted her head slightly at him. Her bright optic's stayed trained on him simply watching until Dylan either turned around to see her or he literally bumped into her leg.
Either way he was slacking off and Arcee was going to find out why, he lived here, it was up to all of them to keep the base clean and tidy.

Thud!
Oh crap, who had caught him? Please don’t be Ratchet, please don’t be Ratchet.
He spun around to find that it was... Arcee. Not Ratchet, but still definitely intimidating. She was nice, don’t get Dylan wrong, he liked most of Team Prime, since he’d known them the most. And furthermore that meant he trusted most of them. But on the other hand, she could be insanely strict - and she had really hated the last time Dylan had gone street racing: mostly becaus Jack had to butt in but still.
Yanking off his earbuds and shoving his iPod into his back pocket, he gave the most “innocent” smile he could manage. “Heyyyy Arcee! You’re looking good! Is that a fresh coat of paint?” He asked in what was shamelessly the most cliche greeting ever. “Or did Jack just help give you a fresh coat of wax? Either way I love it.”
He really needed to shut up.

An optical ridge lifted at the human teen's attempt to 'charm' her with flattery and she shook her head. Her optic's stayed trained on him and she glanced toward a mess of electronics in the corner that had been brought in.
"Don't even try it." She answered back in a firm voice. "Everyone else has been working to clean this place up. And no one takes a break until we're finished remember? That pile of electronics isn't going to magically disappear. But with your help they can be taken to one of the storage bins."
Dylan was a good kid even if he did drag Jack into his antics. Arcee was still mildly irritated about the last little stunt the boy's had pulled. She was Jack's guardian, sworn to protect him, and being put in danger from someone else didn't fly with her. She let a small ghost of a smile show to put the kid at ease.

Dylan sighed.
He guessed he should have known he couldn’t get away with that here, there were more than a lot of them and only one of him. All the same at least she gave a small smile though. Which usually meant that she was just being her rather than upset about anything. “It just sucks I have to do this on a Saturday,” he groaned starting to load said electronics on a cart. “I guess I should have figured being grounded or punished would be harder on a base. You guys can get more creative than my old foster parents.”
He shook his head a bit. It really was true, there had to be billions of things that Autobots could have him do. He was sure with his track record he would inevitably learn them all. “I mean I knew it was coming, Bee and I got caught street racing and all,” he explained. “It’s jusf weird getting a punishment that isn’t like “go to your room”. Most of them didn’t care that much.”
And in a way, that made the punishment a good thing. It meant he was somewhere that cared for once - and it was a weird but good feeling. God did he just admit to himself being punished was good? He should check his temperature. “Either way, I’m totally missing the new Marvel movie and not amused.”

"Everyone pulls their own weight around here." Arcee replied back to the teen. "Saturday's aren't alway's reserved for work so you can handle one that is."
A low chuckle reverberated through the fem and she smiled a little more with Dylan's words. The boy had been through a lot, everyone here had, but they all supported one another when things go tough. Arcee was notorious for not opening up when something was bothering her until someone pushed. Usually it was Jack or Optimus who managed to get it out of her and even with them there was sometimes mild irritation.
"The whole point of this is to show you that you can't just do anything you want Dylan. It's dangerous out there with the Con's crawling everywhere and we've sworn to keep the human's here safe. Your 'thrill ride' the other day put you in danger and it could have been a lot worse." Arcee gently reminded him.
The autobot fem's optics rolled when the teen mentioned he was missing a movie and she shook her head arms crossing over her chest again. She gazed down on him watching as he loaded the cart being productive again.
"I'm sure you'll live. It's not like you can't see it another time."

Dylan guessed that was right.
After all, he hadn't come to live with the Autobots without expecting to pull his own weight. In fact, he wanted to help the Autobots in any and every way possible! But at the same time, punishments would never be his thing - ever. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Can't help it that I legit hate manual labor." He joked lightly.
Uh oh, there was the lecture he was dreading. Though he also knew she made a good point. Now that he was living with the 'Bots, he'd be a huge target for the Decepticons. He was with Bumblebee of course but a part of him wondered if it was only a matter of time before they wanted to take him hostage the same way they'd taken Chris for a while.
Of course he'd live though! But that didn't mean it didn't suck. "Yeah, I know, I know. Now that I'm actually one of you guys the 'Cons might want a piece of me. Honestly, let them try." He then added. "But you're probably right about the street racing. It's just fun... The adrenaline, the action, I mean can you really blame me?"
He then added. "I mean, don't you and Jack do anything dangerous just for kicks?"

"Don't let that ego get too big." Arcee warned softly. "We all know your capable but the Decepticon's play by their rules, and by that I mean they don't usually have any. All the human's here have proven they can handle themselves but against someone like Megatron or Starscream even we're hard pressed. We're here to protect you when you have trouble doing it yourselves."
A small smile curved across the fem's face and her optic's weren't as sharp on the teen when he spoke about the racing. Sure she didn't want Jack or any of them to get hurt but Dylan was right about it being fun. Being able to push the boundaries of your limits and just let go was something the warrior didn't do often. If not for Jack and the other members of Team Prime Arcee may have remained the 'lone wolf' forever. Here she had family and friends who cared about her well being and wanted to see her happy. It was nice having that again after everything she had been through.
"No I can't blame you for enjoying it, seeking that thrill, it looks like you human's need things like that to make you feel alive." Arcee replied back with a slight chuckle. Her optic's shifted again and narrowed slightly when Dylan asked his question. The fem's arms crossed again and she shrugged slightly. "I'm not going to say that Jack and I haven't done dangerous things. But I usually try and keep him out of danger. And I'm not going to openly condone it either because I don't want him hurt. Which is why he's tried to find other ways to get that thrill and still put himself in danger."

Ok she had a point there.
He had seen Megatron before of course - having been aodund as long as Jack, Miko, and Raf. Not that it was anything to write home about. That mech was undoubtedly the scariest thing he had ever seen. And the other humans should have counted themselves lucky they never have had to stand in his presence. Things had been a little too close for comfort during the “Orion Pax” incident as he very clearly remembered.
He sighed quietly. “Yeah, true. I mean they’ve always been special cases though. Let’s be real,” he epxlained, honestly. “Megatron especially. I still can’t believe Optimus was ever friends with that guy! Though people were friends with my dad, and my mom married him. So I guess people can be manipulated into being friends with just about anyone.”
Jack? Looking for other ways? Like what? “Wait you mean to tell me Jack has tried to find other ways? What other ways? And please don’t tell me that means he’s going full Miko mission adrenaline junkie on us,” he explained. “One of those is hard enough to keep up with.”

Arcee shook her head letting her arms drop and she moved to lean casually against a stack of huge crates. "Optimus wasn't manipulated into being friends with Megatron. The way I hear it they truly were friends, they had the same views in the beginning, but when the Council got involved things fell apart. Megatron wanted to change things on Cybertron through tyranny but Orion Pax had a more peaceful way to do things. It was because of his compassion that the council put him forward to become a Prime."
Optics shifted slightly as the femme realized she had quoted a lot of the story Ratchet told. She respected the medic but knew he could embellish a little especially when it came to Optimus. Still she was trying to point out that not everyone became friends through shady and darker means.
"Oh no, I'm not going to stand here and tell you what he's tried. You're just enough of a thrill seeker to try some of these things." Arcee answered back. "Besides, you and Jack have already been street racing without my knowledge. That was more then enough and I don't want to see you hurt either." The femme added.
She chuckled softly at the mention of Miko and her need for thrills, danger, and adrenaline. It seemed that girl was always following Bulkhead and the team to get in on the action even if it was just to snap some pictures on her cellphone. She had been put in harms way and dragged others with her as a result more then once. "No, Jack's not going off the rails that badly. But he's young and he doesn't like being bored. I guess being around us has upped the need to see more action despite the danger it puts all of you in. Just be more careful, we don't want to see anything happen to any of you, your important to us."

Dylan nodded his head, remembering the story too.
Really he did believe that Optimus and Megatron had been friends. But at the same time it was hard to imagine those two as ever having anything in common with one another. What had they made friends over anyway? He knew Optimus respected whatMegatron had originally intended to do, but he hardly imagined Megatron just woke up evil one day either. “Yeah, it’s just still hard for me to imagine. People don’t just wake up evil one day, y’know?” He explained.
Dylan snorted. Ok he could agree on that one, he was absolutely the type to try just about anything thrill seeking. He had never gone as far as Miko... Yet. But a part of him wanted to get in on the action like that for example, especially now.
At the same time though - she made an honest point. What would come out of it? Him maybe getting hurt? Yeah. That was what for now kept him from pulling a Miko himself. But he still felt the desire to festering in his stomach by the day given his new status. He hated just being on base and doing nothing to help. And one of this days it wasn’t outside the realm of possibility he’d act on it. “Yeah, well. I think we also feel the same way about you guys. You’re all always out there risking your lives on a daily basis,” he explained as he finished loading the cart. “I think sometimes we all just want to help out.”

Arcee smiled again at the boy and pushed off of the crates standing straight. "We get it, really, and trust me you'll all get your chance at some point. Whether we set it up or not there will come a time when you will help." Glowing optic's stared down on him and she shook her head. "Not that you don't already." She added.
The femme gestured to the electronics he had picked up and put on the cart. "See you're already helping out by keeping this place neat and clean. Imagine the damage that Bulkhead could cause if he tripped over one of these." She chuckled lightly remembering many a time the wrecker had stumbled into something and caused a mess or taken out something important.
Arcee cast her optic's around the area again and nodded. "Looks like we're finally done in here. And it really wasn't that bad was it? I think you deserve an actual break now." The two wheeler replied with another smile. "But, don't go street racing, dragging anyone else into it, or getting into anymore trouble got it? I have no problem telling Optimus and letting him deal with you." The femme knew all the kids respected Optimus as much as his team did so the threat usually worked.

Dylan’s eyes perked up.
Well that was definitely good enough for him if it was good enough for her. After all if he sprinted or took a taxi he could absolutely make it there in time - or so he assumed. Maybe his friends would still be there, or maybe they would have headed out already or canceled. Either way, he whipped out his phone slowly. “Awesome! Hopefully Miguel hasn’t gone to the movie already! If I’m done I can technically go out,” he said - of course he was probably wrong but meh, he’d cross that bridge when they came to it. “Yeah, yeah I won’t go do anything stupid - yet.” He said that last part as quiet as he could.
And then he was running off before the femme could catch on.
