Player Alias: Chris
Character Name: Jeffrey “Jeff” Michael Devlin
Allegiance: Human
Appearance Description:
Jeff is a well-built, rougher and tougher looking (barely) sixteen year old kid. He has long-ish brown hair and green eyes that make him stand out due to their deepness. Jeff’s most prominent feature - the thing most people see first, is his prosthetic left leg. His slight embarrassment often leads him to cover up his leg with long jeans. Meaning he’s almost always seen wearing these as well as a simple t-shirt and jacket. (Even in summer)
Personality:
Jeff is a bit of an “angry” person in a lot of ways. Stubborn, tough, and heavily guarded, saying Jeff is a hard nut to crack is like saying the ocean is a “little” deep. He finds it hard to keep his more heated emotions in check, and his attitude as a result can often be seen as off-putting. Some would even say he’s nearly impossible to get through to.
But what most don’t know about Jeff is underneath that rough and tough exterior, he is a kind hearted person. Jeff has a deep respect for life, and a great love for animals that is hardly matched. Often the kind of kid who would give his money to a homeless person despite his own situation, or stop to help a hurt dog on the side of the road. He is hardly the “hard ass” he leads most to believe.
Once his guard’s down more of this comes to light. And to those few that he puts his trust in Jeff is charming, offbeat, and nerdy. He can name a hundred facts about any comic book you ask about and having a vast knowledge of cinema especially. It’s very easy to see Jeff is really a nice kid underneath it all if you could only convince him to open up.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
STRENGTHS
Physical Strength: Jeff is a very fit teenager. He keeps himself in physical shape and is definitely strong enough to at least hold his own against most people.
Intelligent: Likewise, Jeff is very smart and incredibly observant. This makes him very cautious and oftentimes - the person that thinks before he leaps. His ability to read situations well also helps him to keep out of much trouble.
Respectful: As stated before, Jeff is nothing but respectful of people. Sometimes this is a little harder around authority. But for the most part - Jeff does his best to respect people. Even if that respect is hard to keep.
Laid Back: Jeff is pretty easygoing as a person and generally isn’t too hard to please as far as activities go. As long as he has something to do and he’s enjoying himself he can do just about anything.
Good Judge of Character: He reads people like a book. He knows the good from the bad people at an alarming rate. And can easily see through to people’s true intentions.
WEAKNESSES
Rarely Puts His Trust in Anyone: Jeff has put his trust in people before. But now? He’s found it hard to place - especially given all he’s been through. While it’s easy to gain his short-term trust. One should not expect him to pour his heart and soul to them unless they take the time to break down his walls.
Prone to Anger: Jeff is understandably angry at well - the world. As a result he’s known to have angry outbursts. Usually none of them are unprovoked, but it does happen.
Great Distrust of Authority: Put him in front of cops, officials, or the like, and Jeff freezes up. He isn’t sure how to trust these types and is very likely to avoid most of them at all costs.
Troubled: If it wasn’t already obvious - Jeff is a very troubled soul. He often makes bad decisions on account of his deep pain. Including hanging out with the wrong crowd - which is getting him into trouble lately.
Physical Disability: Jeff was born without a left leg. As a result he has a hard time with running for long periods - and needs a wheelchair or crutch without his prosthetic.
Clouded Judgement: In contrast to his ability to read people, Jeff doesn’t always use it. Sometimes ignoring warning signs that may be obvious if he feels it might find him the acceptance he so desires. Evidenced by his new “friends”.
Abilities:
Jeff is very adept in handling various types of guns - learning how to from a young age.
Weaponry:
None - Yet.
History:
Jeffrey Devlin started out life without one leg, but with the two most loving parents anyone could ask for. His father was a cop, and his mom a scientist - both of whom worked hard and tended to do everything to keep him happy. They were poor, but happy - or so he thought.
His life started a downward spiral when he was five. Without cause or reasons, Jeff’s mom walked out on them. The two were left alone, which mostly worked out for them. But money became even more sparse, and they understandably struggled. Threats coming from his mothers former employer, MECH didn’t help either but the two of them mostly got alokng OK.
Then one day, a stray bullet took his father from him as well. Jeff was left alone at the age of eight, though he was not put into foster care like most kids. He thought he had been lucky when he was taken in by his fathers close friend, but it was only going to be worse from there.
The man, Roland, abused Jeff greatly - treating him with great disdain. As two years went by, Jeff was kept in his iron grip. Until finally he’d grown taller, and stronger - and he finally took his chance. In one stroke of bravery, he struck back - hard against Roland, and fled in his car to make his escape.
He made it two towns over before he was brought back to Jasper, Nevada by authorities. Caught, Jeff attempted to tell the cops the truth about his caretaker, but his attempts fell on deaf ears. Roland had big pull in town and Jeff was instead put on trial for attempted murder (according to Roland) and Grand Theft Auto.
He got five years - which he spent becoming more jaded.
After he’d been let out, he refused to go back to Roland, or into foster care. So instead he went to the streets. Things were hard for a while, but Jeff found a job at KO Burger - who didn’t ask questions. After saving, he soon got a moped for transportation and began renting a room with a young, foreign couple who didn’t ask many questions.
Overall, life is comfortable enough for Jeff. But over the past year, Jeff had hoped to make a better life for himself, and perhaps find out the whereabouts of his missing mother. Though he doesn’t know where to start. Only a single name of the company she worked for: MECH.
In the meantime he’s found people who claim to “understand” him. The kind of seedy, not so nice types that get into trouble, drink, and do drigs. Jeff hasn’t started to go their corrupted way yet thankfully, but without proper guidance he’s traveling down a risky road.
