Characters: @helex, @skystalker Location: Jasper Desert Content Warnings: Temperature Puns Ahoy! Plot Summary: Jeff goes looking into more about the Cybertronians. Gets WAY more than he bargained for.
It had been a couple of days since he’d run into the talking - robot known as Steamhammer. And ever since, Jeff had felt a great deal of curiosity about finding out more... Or rather curious about finding more of them. He didn’t know what even compelled him to do it - but he had a few thoughts. Mostly he thought about his mom... And how she had sthis weird thing about machines in general.
So he’d journeyed out into the desert and started his search. He’d started out near where he’d discovered the first mech, but steadily made his way closer and closer towards the mountains. It had taken several hours to reach the edge of them, but something in his gut told him he was on the right track, and he usually went with his gut.
“Who am I kidding? That was a freak accident,” he grunted a little bit as he kept moving thinking of ways that he could easily make his way up the mountain. “Probably never gonna see another one again. And spend the next day with frickin’ sore legs!” He shook his head, starting to make his way up what wasn’t a trail so to speak but was at least a path he could follow.
Hopefully he didn’t run into more trouble at least.
It felt like any other day. Just taking a stroll around the desert, once more to get out of the base before he went stir crazy. Skystalker did this every so often, went out to stretch his legs and just walk around in Nevada's desert and mountains where humans were rarely seen or found. Which meant he had ample time to be out and about without concerning himself with having to hide and wait things out, sometimes for hours before the humans left.
His claws gently scrapped on the rocky surface of one of the flat topped mountains, taking in the seemingly endless landscape of scorching hot rocks and sand filling his vision. At this rate, Skystalker had just become use to the sight after seeing it countless times before. So, walking upon the mountain was just his typical routine nowadays, the young Predacon finally coming to a stop near the mountain's edge...where he heard a voice below him.
Surprised, Skystalker peered down over the ledge, immediately finding the source of the voice to belong to a human. For a moment, Skystalker stood stalk still, frozen to the spot since he had expected this place to be devoid of any visitors. He expected to be in the clear. Yet, his optics did not deceive him as he watched Jeff following a trail of sorts, which meant he would eventually find Skystalker if he did not leave then and now. But at the same time, he was curious to meet a human not among the Autobot allies, to actually see if he could interact with them without them panicking.
"Not on the trail." He muttered to himself, turning away from the ledge, sending some loose pebbles tumbling down near Jeff, making sure he wasn't in sight just yet.
Helex drove along the desert in his conspicuous alt-mode. Now that the Peaceful Tyranny has docked with the Nemesis, the Decepticon Justice Division was going to stay here for a while. Might as well get used to this planet. Almost anything above water is covered in green organic filth that spews out a gas which apparently really hates his armor.
Oh look, Helex thought as he saw a cactus. Another one of those green organics.
Helex ramped up his speed, smashing the green organism into pieces. He transformed, placing its remains into his chest and vaporizing them. The remaining sludge slid out of his smelter as he gave it a gesture he learned from Nickel with all four of his servos.
Looking back up, Helex saw a different type of organic in front of a mountain. A type that doesn't spew out harmful gases, at least in a dry environment like the one he was in right now, and could move around. They looked like organic versions of Cybertronians. He wondered if they would scream like Cybertronians when they melted.
Smiling at the thought of organics melting, Helex stalked towards Jeff.
The little bit of rock falling got Jeff’s attention.
It was a bit weird, but something told him to look up. Which is when he saw the fainted glimmer of what appeared to be something mechanical. What was that? Did it look like some sort of tail? Of course it did - which just screamed super weird for Jeff. He wasn’t looking for a giant mechanical beast, just a giant mechanical man! What on Earth did that mean? Could there be other forms of these beings?
Well, there was only one way to find out.
He continued up the trail quickly, trying to figure out what he would do or say. He’d made it a little bit further when he heard the loud rumbling. Stopping in his tracks, he turned his head to see what he didn’t know was Helex on the approach. What was that? And what was it doing so close to the trail?
Skystalker could hear the human approaching, his spark racing in anticipation. So far, his encounters with humans had mostly been negative, but his meeting with Dylan proved some promising results. Perhaps he just needed to try a more friendly, less menacing approach than he had since he arrived here. Maybe that was the key. Try not to look as menacing as he already did, try to give a friendly demeanor.
But those thoughts immediately left his processor as Skystalker noticed movement in the distance. That was odd, he had never seen such a vehicle before. Was it even of Earth? It didn't appear to be. Optic ridges furrowing in wonder, Skystalker stepped forward a few feet, squinting his optics to try to get a better look at Helex in the distance, trying to make out what the vehicle was...until it transformed.
Well, that answered his thought pretty quickly. Skystalker couldn't be sure if this was a friend or enemy, but his instincts started to kick in. The human was his priority over his own safety, and the way Helex was stalking towards the mountain it appeared he too had seen Jeff.
With a low growl, Skystalker jumped to the edge of the mountain, in clear view of Jeff if he looked up before leaping down to land in front of the trail Jeff was presently using. Sand being kicked up from the landing, Skystalker shifted into a defensive position, optics narrowed to slits towards Helex as his tail lashed back and forth and wings up at angles, spread out slightly. "Identify yourself." Skystalker demanded towards Helex.
The human was standing still with a surprised expression. How will this organic melt? How will it scream? Helex couldn't wait to find out. But then a Predacon got in his way and asked who he was. How annoying.
Helex's lower arms pointed at the golden Decepticon symbol at the center of his chest. It should be obvious. Was the Predacon blind? Well, he supposed stupidity could be another reason, since the Predacon deserters were all on the List. They were made to be Decepticons, after all.
Helex's chest compartment opened up as he reached for the Predacon with all of his arms. The human could wait. After all, there were 7 billion others he could play with.
Jeff didn’t know how to react to what had just happened.
Was that a frickin’ dragon? And then a giant furnace? Was he high? Jeff didn’t do drugs - but he certainly felt high looking at this right now. He tensed up a bit. Said dragon seemed to be acting in a way to protect him, but why? He didn’t quite understand what the heck was going on right now though his mind swirled with ideas.
Licking the side of his lip nervously he stepped back a little. Was the furnace thing a threat? Jeff really didn’t know - he wasn’t sure what the hell was even happening here anymore. “Whoa, uhhh. Hi there... I don’t suppose you guys are friends with a guy named...” then he saw said furnace lunge and yelped, falling onto his back. “Holy crap! What is going on here!?” He shouted with the loudest yell he could manage.
Skystalker hadn’t seen the insignia until Helex had gotten closer. But this was the first time he was seeing the symbol in gold. Perhaps some of the Decepticons were special for receiving it, or it was just an easier way to identify where they belonged among their ranks. Regardless, Skystalker didn’t quite care.
But when the mech’s chest compartment opened up, the young Predacon was dumbfounded to say the least. Who had a smelter in their chest? “Well, you’re a freaky one aren’t you. Let’s keep that compartment of yours nice and cool no?” Skystalker stepped back from the hands as he charged a cryo blast before firing it right for Helex’s open chest compartment before immediately ducking away from those hands seeking to grab ahold of him. If his blast made contact, the area would be iced over and maybe give him time to get the human away if Helex became annoyed by the icy feeling. Or he’d just make him angry, either way.
“I’ll explain it the best I can kid, but at the moment you need to be out of harms way.” Only problem was, Skystalker didn’t know where to put Jeff where he wouldn’t be in trouble. Helex could have them separated and easily gone after the human instead if he got bored with him. “On second thought, hang out here and hold on.” Skystalker gingerly picked Jeff up in his claws, reaching back and settling the teenager on his neck just behind his neck. At least there Jeff was a little more out of the way and out of sight, making it easier for Skystalker to keep him out of reach but still fight if necessary.
This was going to be weird though, never having had a human or anyone on his back before.
Skystalker's mouth blast wasn't entirely unexpected. After all, Shockwave did have a tendency to install weapons in his experiments' alt-mode mouths. What Helex didn't expect was the cold. It didn't matter though. He turned on his smelter. It might take a while, but the ice would melt. "No, Predacon," he said, smirking. "I'm here to bring the heat." He walked ahead unfaltered by the Predacon's attack. Helex then remembered something, and closed his chest compartment.
"Y'know," said the DJD's walking smelter when he saw the human being picked up. "That just makes the both of you an easier target."
The hulking Decepticon lunged for the Predacon's wing, knowing if he got ahold of it, the Predacon wouldn't be able to take off. He did have plans in case that failed though.
Jeff was startled as the dragon reached for him. Perhaps a part of him felt like he should have panicked a little bit more. Maybe he should have even said for him not to. But at the same time he felt like he was a bit aged from... whatever the heck this was on top of the giant creatures back. He put his shaky hands on Skystalker’s back slowly, shakily as he looked up at Helex.
Easier targets?
Did that mean this thing was going to try and hurt him too? What the heck had he done? Was he really going to try and attack an innocent kid? What kind of monster was this guy? He fled his heart pounding as Helex went on the attack. Ok, keep being brave, Jeff don’t show them you’re afraid - don’t show anyone you’re afraid!
“Uhhh any ideas of what to do about this guy?” He asked shakily. “Because I’m pretty sure he’s not gonna give up easy!”
