So there was a war attached to these robots he’d met. That was unexpected - even moreso was meeting a giant dragon that had saved his life. Oh god what has he gotten himself into now? He hasn’t been back to his “house” for hours now while this whole thing was worked out and he felt so confused. And to be honest he was pretty freaked out.
He had already gotten the low down on everything. But he wasn’t sure what to make of it - what did he do now? Just go about his life and pretend everything was normal? Who was he kidding? He was a teenager renting a room and trying desperately to live off a part time job at KO burger, a fact which was hard enough as is. But this? He’d thought meeting the other aliens would be cool but it was officially the opposite. He had not signed up for this.
It was a wake up call to the fact his life was spiraling into insanity.
So he’d taken a seat on a couch in the rec room to calm himself down. Running his hands along his face slowly, and trying his best to keep calm at least. This wasn’t so bad, maybe it’d be cool. Yeah right, they probably worked with the government. And being a kid who had been missing for a year now from a high profile case - god this was bad.
Not for the first time he was starting to understand why some teenagers drank.
Whole lot of expensive equipment around here to break, Victory Leo thought. He still wasn't sure why Star Saber wanted him in such close proximity to so much breakable tech, and by extension people. Whatever happened, Star Saber was getting all the fingers pointed towards him for coming up with such a ludicrous idea.
He might've just meant for Leo to have some time to allow people to get to know his new form better, but on the inside he was dreading being confined in such a space again. Victory Leo yearned for the open skies and fields of Earth, despite having only been on-planet for such a short time. It was his wild side, he assumed, aching to cut loose and run wild. These walls of stone and concrete were nothing but a tomb to him.
So far he'd managed to contain himself from any potential outbursts, thankfully for all the expensive Cybertronian equipment. Omega base was also largely empty at this hour, at least this section of the compound was. Victory Leo let out a sigh, having found his quiet solace for the moment. Had it not been for the human, he would've started to enjoy it. There was absolutely no way his massive footfalls hadn't alerted them, so the towering Autobot prepared for his worst fear: a conversation.
Of course he had figured it was one of the Autobots. But it didn’t help his nerves. Who knew if this one would be friendly? Did he have to put his guard up? Show he wasn’t scared of them somehow? He tried to control his breathing - this was nerve wracking enough even as the mech came into view and looked... Not scary at all.
Sure he was big, really big. But at the same time he didn’t look ready for a fight or anything. He looked pretty calm for the moment, though maybe a little surprised to see him. Ironic because that feeling was surprisingly mutual. Jeff however stood up from the couch. Maybe he was in the mechs way. He didn’t want to be in the mechs way - he didn’t want to know what a mech was like when they were angry.
Dammit, there was the side of him that had been abused showing through. He probably looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
“I’m sorry, did you want to sit here? I can go,” he explained as he swallowed slightly. “It was uh. Just so empty in here, it was a good spot to think... I don’t want to be in anybody’s way.”
Wonderful, it could talk, too. Leo wasn't sure if it was genuinely afraid of his appearance, or simply trying to play coy while talking to a complete stranger. Either way, this was happening now, and they both had to deal with it. The Autobot squatted down as to get a better view of the human, eyeing him up and down twice. Victory towered over most Autobots as it was, but this was just ridiculous.
"You know what, I don't think I'd fit."
Huh. For whatever reason, Ginrai's reformatting had made him sound about twenty percent snarkier. Or perhaps he'd always been that way deep down, and it was only emerging now.
Jeff crossed his arms, letting the mech appraise him.
It wasn’t like he didn’t expect this. They were aliens after all, they’d probably never seen a human before coming to Earth. As such he’d expected at least a few of them to be curious about what they were. Just as he had been supremely curious about what they were. He meant of course he was, otherwise he would be here right now - in this weird as hell situation. Talking to people he had compared to Voltron upon first meeting one of their species.
He did have to smirk a bit at the snarkiness though. “I mean I’m sure you could. I just uh... I should probably get out of my funk anyway. I’ve just got a lot on my mind is all,” he explained honestly, his voice a little tense. “Nothing new though. Life’s been weird as heck for me for a long time, y’know? This just... Well it kind of takes the cake is all.”’
Victory Leo stood back up to full height, gazing down at the human. He mimicked the boy's posture, arms folded as well. Weird as heck was an understatement for Cybertronians, let alone humans. But to be fair, he was slightly curious; then again, he was a cat now. Despite the fact that it could kill him, from what human expressions told him, he decided to ask aloud.
"I would think running into a group of metallic life forms would upset any of you fleshlings. But tell me, human sitting in my base, is your life so dizzying?"
There was something slightly condescending to Leo's tone, but he meant it in all good fun, though it may not have been taken in such a way.
Really the giant robot thing was definitely the truth. I mean he’d met too many of these things already, and if he’d described any of them to another human they’d be testing him for drugs or schizophrenia. Both of which he really wouldn’t blame them for. A part of him had wondered if he was losing his mind too - talking to a bunch of giant robots. Maybe he was in a coma he figured in a way, and he was just losing his mind? Jeff really still wasn’t sure this was all a dream.
As for his life being dizzying. “Dude you have no idea. My life has never been normal. This takes the cake, but it’s right up there with the rest of the weird crap that’s happened in my life,” Jeff explained rather bluntly. “You’re talking to a guy whose mom worked for a secret company even I know nothing about. And then disappeared off the face of the planet, so..”
He shook his head. “So what’s your name? I’m Jeff.”
Victory Leo nodded along as Jeff explained just how nuts his life was. He assumed it was nuts, from a human's perspective at least. His mind raced to the dozens of possible ways he could've one-upped the human's story, naturally. If there ever was a competition for weird and wild, Leo would always be a fierce contender. The lumbering Autobot leaned forward, arms still folded, "I am going to surpass your story now," he said after a few moments of waiting.
"I used to be a judge, you see; the Chief Justice of Cybertron as it happens. I spent my entire life grinding away to achieve a position that could dish out true justice," Leo chanted, having taken a rather heroic pose unintentionally, his gaze and clenched fist raised to the heavens. A nanosecond later, and he relented, sitting cross-legged on the ground in front of Jeff. "I was a sham. Instead of ruling on the side of justice, I was forced to rule on the side of the senate, which was far from synonymous with justice I discovered."
Leo braced himself by pressing a hand to his bent leg, continuing, "I sent more innocent beings to be either executed or mutilated than I want to count. To atone for my failures as a law giver, I joined the Autobots in a war that would span across this galaxy in order to bring justice back to a lawless world, on my own terms. In the end, I had my body melted off."
Leaning back once again, the Autobot properly introduced himself, "I am the Autobot formerly known as Chief Justice Ginrai, City Commander of Ky-Alexia; Victory Leo."
Now that was... that was quite the story he figured. He sighed quietly, trying to take that all in. A crooked judge turned good huh? He knew a few things about crooked justice systems himself - way too many things really. So to find all this out was interesting, he’d never thought of someone turning over a new leaf despite it all. He almost... He DID admire the mech for that, nodding a little in understanding.
He crossed his arms a bit and seated himself back down. Well, how to reply to that. How could he amply reply to that in a nice way... in a way that made him know he understood what he meant. “Wow, that... That sound like you went through a whole lot of crap. I’m sorry to hear that... but you know, you turned over a new leaf. You did something about it. That makes you OK in my book,” he explained with a grin. “A lot of people don’t do that, they just keep being crooked, evil y’know...”
He paused a moment. “I think I know that a bit better than anyone. Wasn’t mutilated or executed... But I uh... I spent some time in juvie, and it wasn’t a “fair fight”.” He said, trying to keep it at that. No one needed to know what happened, not yet.
