He still didn’t know what the heck had happened. One moment, Airwalker was minding his own business, then... Well, now he was sucksd into something... Something he didn’t know. That had almost been an equally messy situation that might have killed him, had he not managed at the last moment like he had... and crashed into... Something like a fragging mountain? Containing lava? What was this pure madness he was seeeing?
He kicked himself up to his feet, running internal diagnostics. He was still functioning but banged up, and his overall surroundings were... Strange, unfamiliar, and... Tropical? Where in the pit was he? :This is Airwalker reporting back to Decepticon HQ, do you read?”: static, nothing but dead static - just slagging great!
:What the pit!? Is anyone out there? I’m in unknown territory and possibly damaged!: he said in open com, almost sounding even more annoyed than he intended. :I demand an explanation for the unknown activity that dragged me to this... This place!:
The bottle of Engex that Spacewarp had been nursing at her post shattered against the floor. She quickly double checked to see if she wasn't so drunk as to be imagining Airwalker's voice, looking over her comm channels. Once she'd been brought up to speed by the Decepticons, she'd switched over to their channel, but this, this came from her original frequency. He was here.
She barged out of her quarters, very nearly mowing down a patrol of Vehicons walking through the halls on her way to the hangar. Whatever trouble this was to get her in, she could explain later; and it would be worth it, too. Spacewarp practically punched the door switch for the hangar bay, transforming the moment she had a clear stretch of room.
In all her haste she'd forgotten to even try to reply to Airwalker's distress signal, not that it mattered; she'd be at his location within a matter of minutes. Spacewarp's jets were pushing her at roughly mach 10, which was especially dangerous this close to a planet, not to mention she'd likely crash and die if she lost control for even a moment. Didn't matter: her baby was on Earth.
Spacewarp could see the island in a matter of moments as it came into view. If Airwalker had followed protocol and sat tight, this wouldn't take long at all. Her spark skipped a beat as her long range visual scanners picked up his red and blue frame, looking extremely vexed at the entire situation. She couldn't blame him, after all she'd arrived on Earth in an even worse state.
For the past few months she'd come to terms with the prospect that she was never going home, that'd she'd never see Cybertron or those she cared about again. But just like that, Primus seemed to have shot the notion down.
Spacewarp dipped her nosecone down towards the island, towards the Decepticon she'd carried in her spark chamber roughly two million stellar cycles ago. She transformed, landing on a rocky outcropping just a short distance above him, looking down. Her words escaped her for the moment, as Spacewarp was simply caught up in the unofficial reunion.
His carrier had always been the one to sprint at the first indication of his presence. Even when he really didn’t need her. In a way he felt a little annoyed she’d shown up. Is this where she had fragging been? Worrying him sick as she hung out on what? Some organic pit stain in some unknown solar system? What the pit!
He groaned a little, putting his hands on his hips. But trying to put on a fake smile that masked his utter annoyances. She had so much explaining to do. Starting with where they were and ending with why she’d so stupidly chosen to just take a vacation like this to some, again, stupid organic rock! He was not pleased like he hoped he would be to see her at all.
No, this whole situation made that hard. “Carrier!” He said in a fake jovial way all the same. “There you are! I’ve spent the last several days searching for you! Where are we? I feel quite lost.”
He really didn't need to call her that, but on the plus side she could get away with calling him her little sparkling. Spacewarp retracted her face mask and lept down to Airwalker's level, cracking the ground as she landed. She'd been around him long enough to know when he was putting up a front, seeing straight through his words. He was severely annoyed, Spacewarp could tell. And Spacewarp could work with that.
"I've been stranded here these past few months, and you're only finding me now? I was expecting better from my pride and joy," she quipped sarcastically. In truth, she didn't hold any of it against him. There was no possible way anyone from command would've known exactly what happened to her, but still, here he was.
Spacewarp took a moment to examine the scenery, before she gave Airwalker his answer, "We're in another universe, Airwalker. I don't know how or why, but I know. I was on my way back to the fleet when I was pulled out of warp above this planet... complete with it's own versions of the Decepticons and Autobots as well..."
Who was better at most things than him? Trick question in his opinion, no one. Absolutely no one and that was a well known fact to him. As far as he was concerned, Air had done his job well and right. He just hadn’t known that she was.... Wait did she just say another universe? What the pit? Had she hit her head in landing? This looked like that same old Earth he’d heard of before! How on Earth could they somehow be in another universe?
His calculating mind attempted to process this the best he could. He of course, like most, knew about the theory of multiple universes, but this was... How did this happen so quickly? So easily! It was impossible, improbable! “Another universe? Perhaps you are not well. That’s nigh impossible if you ask me,” he explained throwing up his hands. “Are you quite sure of it. Or are you simply confused? Or perhaps did you crash and hit your helm?”
She hadn't expected Airwalker of all people to be open minded about their shared situation, but this was just asinine. Spacewarp wouldn't have expected anything else from her little sparkling. Giving Airwalker a light punch on the shoulder, she went about explaining in detail how she'd been brought to realize the truth, "To start, Megatron is alive in this universe, yet he never assumed the mantle of Prime; Optimus Prime currently holds that title... and is leading the Autobots."
One of the most jarring experiences thrust upon her during her foray into this universe was the stark role reversal of both major factions. In her universe, the Autobots had always been a group of underground rebels, sometimes with a cause, sometimes without. The Decepticons had reigned supreme following the overthrow of the Senate, and had utterly crushed the Autobots in the conflicts that followed. Being on the run again from these Autobots, the dominant faction on Cybertron, made Spacewarp feel like she was Sunstreaker again.
"If you still don't believe me, we can always just go and see Megatron ourselves."
Airwalker was really convinced he had entered what humans would call “The Twilight Zone”.
Promise another universe? And one that was that level of different? Why on Earth did this have to happen to them! He was not ready for any of that personally - and he didn’t want to be here. He just wanted to go back to his own universe with his own Decepticons and this was not gonna cut it! He didn’t have time for this. He had things to do back home after all. “Megatron and Optimus Prime, HERE?” He asked rather frustratedly. “I always have the worst kind of luck. I don’t suppose you know a way home yet do you?”
Who was he kidding? No doubt she would have left already.
With a slight groan and a stretch, the mech looked at his carrier quietly. “Well I suppose it couldn’t hurt to go and get acquainted with the Decepticons of this universe,” he added rather annoyed, before questioning. “So what are they like anyway? How is their naval unit?” He questioned.
"If there's a way to get home, I haven't found it yet." Typical Airwalker. Not even a day outside his comfort zone and he was already angrily clawing to get back. She'd shared his sentiment upon first landing on Earth as well, but she had also crash landed; her little sparkling was completely unharmed. She couldn't fault him for being this way, though. He came from her, after all.
Airwalker's second question had a much more unpleasant answer. It wasn't all that difficult of a question to respond to, but Spacewarp loathed having to do it anyway. The elder Seeker took a few moments to properly compose her answer without throwing too much shade on these Decepticons. Or Silentsky. "They have a command vessel, and so many ships that I could count them all on my left hand." It wasn't really a glowing endorsement from a former Air Captain, but Spacewarp couldn't have drummed up a more accurate statement.
She paced around a bit, assessing everything she'd learned about these new Decepticons into one tidy mental report. "The majority of their forces are made up of drones, and most of their officers are power-hungry or uncaring about their subordinates." She paused, a certain Seeker coming to the forefront of her mind, "And in one case, both."
Of course she hadn’t. Well he definitely wasn’t going to stop looking - he told himself. He was not going to be stuck on this filthy backwater planet with these stupid organics for long. He would rather step in them for sport but he doubted that would fly well, not really anyway. “Lovely...” he grumbled under his breath.
Then she started to explain the Decepticons.
Well then, that was quite the interesting revelation. Just what kind of world had they stepped into here? What made the Decepticons turn into something so much more interesting? He tapped his chin a bit listening quite intently to his carrier as she explained the logistics of it and smirking with a deep, intense amount of delight.
This was a world where he could be more himself. And probably get further ahead he quickly realized, feeling as though he could only see things getting better from here. “Well then, that is most certainly interesting. And unexpected,” he noted rather calmly. “I do wonder how I might fit in with them, however, all things considered.”
Oh no. Spacewarp knew how to read Airwalker's vernacular, and how he viewed 'fitting in'. He wanted to make a name for himself with these new Decepticons, she knew it. Of course, Spacewarp had wanted to do exactly the same thing. If she was being honest with herself, the universe they'd come from wasn't really a much of a paradise for Cybertronians. Cybertron had been dying a long and quiet death, the colonies were dying or already dried up, and billions were dead. They'd both landed in what could be considered as their best alternative. There wasn't a Unicron in sight, either.
She was quiet for a long few moments in contemplation, before she finally said what they'd both been thinking. "You know the funny thing is, I know exactly what you mean by that," she said, smiling. "Because I had the exact same idea." There were two ways Spacewarp saw this playing out. Either they teamed up and both achieved ranks befitting of Decepticons of their experience and skill, or Airwalker became Starscream 2.0. She preferred the former option.
He either opened up to his sociopathy for his carrier. Or he kept it low key and quiet. Both had its ups and downs really - he could work with her on one hand. But on the other - a carrier and their son both acting as if in their own best interests? Oh dear, he could imagine already that the Decepticons would catch on very quickly. He didn’t want to make it overtly obviously just how much of a - ahem - seeker of high position he was. That could only end badly.
So he instead turned on his mask, so to speak.
Clearing his throat, Air put his hands on his hips. “Well with Cybertron not doing is well back there. I can imagine I have more opportunity to move up in rank here. But I should really find my footing first,” he played up nonchalantly. “I can imagine there are many that are... Quite ahead of my skill level. And I intend to prove myself to them.”
The former it was, then. Spacewarp was well versed in that snide, unassuming tone of Airwalker's. She knew how capable the majority of Megatron's seekers were; they unsurprisingly tapered off the higher up the ranks went. If he truly put his mind to it, she didn't doubt that Airwalker had the skills to surpass even Starscream. Not before she had her shot at him first, though. As his carrier, she was confident enough to rank her own skills above her son's; looking at the facts however, Airwalker was a natural flier, while Spacewarp was not. What she could do with training and experience, he could do with talent.
"Of course you do."
