Player Alias: Meezer
Character Name: Sepsis
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description: In root mode, Sepsis stands around 19 feet tall. Her main frame color is pink, with orange accents on her helm, audials, chest, shoulders, cockpit, turbine, hips, servos, and knees. She additionally has green accents on her chevron, pedes, cockpit, neck, and servos. She has blue optics behind a pair of blue glasses. Her Autobot insignia is on each shoulder.
In her altmode, she is a small fighter jet reminiscent of a Northrop YF-17 "Cobra" jet. Tiny but fast, she is a lightweight jet.
Personality: Sepsis by her very nature is a bit reserved around new mecha, owing in part to a few issues in her past that left her a bit more reserved. This isn't to say that she isn't sociable and kind--she is! She just takes time to warm up to others before she speaks more. But as long as you're kind--and don't stab her in the back--you have a friend for life, with intense loyalty.
Her loyalty is not just to her friends however. Whoever she is teamed with will find her a valuable and loyal ally who will use her medical knowledge to the best of her extent, while trying not to get frazzled in the process. She is intelligent, but not experienced. But that doesn't mean she can't fix you. Just that you should be patient and not expect her to be a legendary medic...yet.
She does tend to be easily stressed and anxious in emergency situations, not as prepared for them as she is for a straightforward situation. She does tend to become anxious quite easily in a more frenetic situation. In addition, she becomes very anxious if she has to fight; though not a complete pacifist, she loathes having to fight as she is weak in combat skills.
However, probably owing in fact to her past, she is also very much terrified of certain situations. She does not trust others to be behind her, especially if she is near the edge of something. In addition, she seems to flinch if someone says something beginning with "Pal".
A more bizarre result of her history is that she is absolutely fascinated with medical anomalies. A medicine having a strange reaction? Fascinating. A during-carry triple-split of the spark? Fascinating. A fast-moving septic rust infection showing signs of organic bacterial modification? Absolutely fascinating.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
+ Medical Knowledge: As a medic, Sepsis of course would have advanced medical knowledge compared to the average laymech. With this knowledge she is able to tend to more complex medical situations.
+ Empathy In Your Spark: Perhaps owing to the fact that she has seen her fair share of patients, and the fact that she had it pretty rough when she was younger, Sepsis has a strong sense of empathy for others, especially her comrades. When in a non-stressful situation she tends to have an amazing, if not empathetic berthside manner even.
+ Loyalty Points: Sepsis has an intense loyalty to her team, especially if they are kind to her. You don't have to worry about her stabbing you in the back with your words--or her laser scalpel.
- My Teammates, Right Or Wrong: Because she tends to be quite loyal to her team, sometimes it can blind her to the faults of her teammates. She might think a team leader to be much better than they are, or a teammate to be less brutal than they are.
- Getting In My Own Head: Due to her anxieties and insecurities, when an emergency comes up or she panics and gets insecure about her own skills and abilities. She may require a bit of reassurance and maybe a little help if it comes down to it.
- Reluctant Warrior: Sepsis loathes fighting. Though she is capable of it to a minor degree, she loathes fighting, choosing to take a more diplomatic solution if she absolutely can.
- My Glasses, I Can't See Without My Glasses: Sepsis is exceptionally nearsighted without her glasses and requires them to see, due to septic-rust-infection induced optic neural damage.
Abilities:
Medical Skills: As a resident medic, Sepsis of course would know medical things and would be able to do them, even if she doesn't believe she can in an emergency situation. Her medical skills tend to be best applied during surgery or a post-surgical setting; emergency medicine, however, is not her forte.
Minor Combat Knowledge: While she loathes fighting, Sepsis does know how to fight. She refuses to use her medical tools as weapons, but that doesn't mean she hasn't learned to use hand-to-hand combat, her single small gun, or to use her aerial skills to her advantage. She uses it to a nonlethal degree.
Weaponry: Sepsis has a small gun that she keeps in her left hip storage in case she needs it for self-defense. It is a small, standard laser pistol.
History: Before she was Sepsis, she had started out a single spark in Vos that had split in two--one half becoming a rusty brick red and dull olive green femme named Medizin. Medizin had formed at the same time as a more harsh and ostentatious femme named Palisade, her split-spark twin. She had started her medical studies at Deltaran before being given a chance to study aboard the starship known as the Stardust, under a medic named Doublejoint.
However, during the journeys of the Stardust, the small crew of ten would find themselves having to refuel on a strange jungle planet called Varkanth II that had a small supply of energon that they would have to find. Medizin was a part of the expedition crew that would be searching for the energon deposit, alongside her twin Palisade, her fellow medic and mentor Doublejoint, and a miner named Stonebuster. During their expedition, Medizin would get her fair share of gashes and dents in her frame, some caused by the megafauna of Varkanth II. However, that paled in comparison as to what would happen.
Palisade had waited until Medizin was keeping watch at night and shoved her into the nearby swamp. Medizin had screamed and struggled, while Palisade acted like she was trying to save her in order to give herself an alibi. Doublejoint and Stonebuster would help pull Medizin out of the swamp and comfort her, no one any the wiser that this would be the beginning of something. A few days' trekking later, Medizin would suddenly collapse; though she had seemed a bit under the weather for a few days, no one had thought anything more than exhaustion or lack of energon until that moment. However, she was in a state of overheat and delirium, a septic rust infection ravaging her systems. Doublejoint would finally locate the source of the rust that had caused the infection: a gash in Medizin's left leg that the rust had been fairly invisible on due to the coloration simply blending in. He would work hard to excise the rusting, necrotic metal and medicate her to help her purge the rust out of her systems.
When the femme awakened, she refused to respond to her original name, "Medizin", instead insisting on being called "Sepsis". Her rationale? She had chosen, during her recovery, to change her name as a reminder to never let herself get in that dangerous a condition ever again. Sepsis would then ask Doublejoint to bring in the ship cosmetician, Cadmium, to discuss an overhaul of her frame's paint job, from a drab rusty red and olive green to bright pink, bronzy orange, and a more verdant green. Her rationale here? A minor rust infection couldn't hide itself on brighter colors. Unfortunately for her, even after being repainted, she would even be struggling to see herself in a mirror.
Doublejoint would have to inspect her optics and optical neural network, in order to find out that it had in fact been damaged by the rust infection. He opted to help fix her vision with glasses, as the neural damage was nigh-impossible to repair and glasses would be simpler in this situation.
After the incident on Varkanth II, Sepsis lost her thirst for adventure to some degree, settling on Caminus for her studies for a while. Unbeknownst to her, Palisade was there as well, and among the same sorority that Sepsis herself had joined, a group that would pick at her constantly for her choice of a scientific occupation, for her supposedly poor art skills, and her extreme timidness to take the stage. The first moment she could leave Caminus for her medical residency, Sepsis would head for a location pinged to her in a message...
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
"Please rest. It will give your welds time to settle." A bespectacled femme spoke softly. She would gently place her hand on the patient's arm, a strong but gentle presence that commanded respect through kindness and care.
The patient would lay himself back. He didn't like the fact that he was out of commission at the moment. However, he knew better than to argue with the medic before him. Most medics were incredibly nasty toward patients who didn't listen. This one probably could too.
Sepsis' gaze shifted away for a moment. She would be placing the surgical welder into its cooling socket to let it rest. She would turn back to the patient with a small, gentle smile, reaching to rub her thumb against the patient's servo. It was something that her own mentor, Doublejoint had done with her when she was afraid she was going to die.
"I know how much it sucks, to be honest. Been on that side of the medibay. If you need anything, I'm here for a reason." She gave a wry smile.
