Summer evenings in the Nevada desert near Jasper were a luxury. The sky was clear and the earth, radiating its heat in the cool of the night, felt small and quiet. Desert wildlife buzzed or skittered about on nocturnal hunts, and the highways were lit by the occasional set of headlights passing through between Salt Lake City and Reno. The hoodoos rose silent and serene in the bright moonlight, their silhouettes visible for miles around.

Parked near one of these, hidden in the shadow, was a scuffy-looking Honda Ridgeline truck in oldschool dusty aqua. There was no driver around. The engine was off.

Kup had been napping ever since his arrival earlier in the day, just around sunset. Space travel always messed with his recharge cycle, so even while catching sleep aboard the dropoff shuttle, he hadn't been able to get a straight few hours. A couple hours on, a few off, and frankly it was exhausting. Without even the adrenaline or paranoia of undergoing the same gamut of sleeplessness to keep him relatively awake, the jetlag just sucked.

But apparently a couple of Autobots had been dispatched from the Autobot base hidden here in the state of Nevada, and so he waited patiently and merely absorbed his surroundings in silence.
