It was so strange to him, going anywhere but to visit Requiem. Papa was always holding him, always keeping him close. He enjoyed it, but he missed his brother. Now they were going far away from that place, from where his carrier made so much fuss over him and walked about holding him close. He didn't understand what all the fuss was about, but he knew it had something to do with his brother. Today would be different, papa had said. Today they were going somewhere special, with papa close enough to snatch him away to safety should it all go wrong.
Little bitty doorwings flapped nervously even as the sparkling looked around with huge optics at the world and the ones they passed. He didn't know any of these bots. Were one of them his Sire? He hadn't met his sire yet, and Papa didn't talk about him. He knew he had to have one, so where was he? And then his train of thought derailed as he was shifted to one side and a play pen was carefully set up while he smooshed himself to his carrier's chassis and cooed. He also opted for a cuddle as he could sense the anxiety rolling through his papa. It would all be okay! A cuddle made everything better.
And then he was set in his play pen with some toys and his carrier sat at a nearby table and seemed to be waiting. Okay then, no more cuddle time. Which meant he could-OH LOOK TOYS!
Most days Nightshade was usually a happy little sparkling. Today was not one of those days when the day started..
She had woken up fussy, and wasn't too thrilled at the prospect of spending the day with Papa (she'd just wanted to snuggle up with Daddy), and he wasn't even working today. Instead he was taking her to the other playpen where it was usually bustling with other mechs and femmes and usually noise. One thing that did perk her up, however, was the promise that she would get to play with Sagitta. She loved her younger Aunt so much, and she felt a bit more like a best friend or a sister than an Aunt. What even was an Aunt, anyway?
She whined as she was set into the playpen, watching as her Papa planted a kiss on her forehelm before going to chat with someone she didn't know. Did she really just get let alone..?
Wait, maybe she didn't. Nightshade peeked around as she heard movement in the playpen, and to her surprise there was another sparkling! Her optics lit up immediately, her fussiness and whining ceasing as she grew in excitement.
Sagitta herself was confused, and even a little grumpy that morning. Her carrier was fussing much more than usual over her and she didn't like it. Papa didn't need to fuss over her! She wasn't going to break! She wasn't going to break or get snatched that easy! She knew that her carrier was anxious but that was just making it all the more frustrating when he never seemed to let her out of his line of sight. She just wanted to do things with others like Nightshade!
But when he finally seemed to release her into a strange encasement, she got nervous. Where was he going? Oh! Over with big brother and who was that other mech? What was he going to do with them? Was this work?
Wait! There was Nightshade. And who was that? Her winglets seemed to twitch with curiosity, much like Pharma's own short side-wings seemed to twitch when he was looking around.
But oh it was so hard to think of something to "say"!
Victory Leo was... asleep. About as asleep as a Cybertronian could get at his age, but asleep none the less. A long day of flight practice and training had worn him down to the point of needing a recharge, one he'd opted to take in his lion form. The faster he learned how to calm down and maintain control his his animal form, the better for everyone. For the past several hours he'd sat immobile, optics shuttered and soundly asleep.
He'd been dreaming he was Ginrai again, leading the Autobots in the charge against the Decepticons. His movements felt like they belonged to him once more, a comfort he'd only found in his dreams. Victory Leo's body was hardly clunky or inefficient; it was like a well oiled machine that never knew when to switch off. But for now, he had found solace.
Then, at the very edge of his hearing, he picked up a most curious sound. It was faint, but enough to rouse the old lion from his slumber. A pair of blue optics fluttered open, slowly scanning the room for the source of the noise, quickly ascertaining that it had come from a ways down the hall to his room. Victory Leo wanted nothing more than to return to his blissful sleep, yet something strange about the sound compelled him to investigate, so he pushed himself back up, and got to it.
The giant, robotic winged lion prowled around Omega-1 for the source of the disturbance, now fixated on it. He'd heard a similar sound before, quite a long time ago, back on Cybertron. He missed hearing it in a remorseful way, though the old Autobot couldn't put his servo on just what it was. Then he rounded the next corner, head gazing into the room off to his right. It was... a nursery? It was a playpen, sparkling-sized, and lo and behold there were sparklings in it, three of them. Under normal circumstances he would have simply taken a moment to observe them before moving on, but these were not normal circumstances. He was transformed into a state that magnified his base emotions and instincts ten-fold. There was absolutely nothing that could stop him now...
Victory Leo made his way to the edge of the play-pen, sitting down on his front paws, curling his back legs together close to his body. He simply stared at them, silently. He flashed no teeth, no signs of aggression, no nothing. Sparklings were a marvel of creation, to be protected and nurtured. They were also impossibly adorable.
He was pulled from his play by the sound of another tiny voice and the placement of first one and then another tiny being like himself. He looked between them then offered each one a toy to play with. "Pway?" He offered a bright little smile, doorwings fluttering happily as he heard his carrier sigh somewhere behind him with the other adults.
He giggled at them then scooted on his bottom to hug each one in turn with a cute little warbling sound coming out of his frame. He was happy to have met some that were his size, someone to play with that wouldn't hurt him or make his carrier sad to be around. This was the best!
And then there was this giant...thing...right outside their little play pen. Solaris' optics widened to the size of dinner plates before he put himself between the other two sparklings and the thing and grabbed it by the face. "Nya!"
And he could feel the levels of panic rising from his carrier somewhere beyond his sight.
"Nya! Nya! Nya!" He chanted it and attached himself by little hands and pedes as though that was the answer to the stranger nearby. He had yet to learn about 'stranger danger' and so had no idea that he could possibly be in danger.
Nightshade squealed happily at the sight of Sagitta, immediately crawling over to her to give her aunt a nice, big hug before nuzzling her helm a bit. "Sagit~!" She loved spending time with the other sparkling, and now there was another sparkling to share that joy with.
She watched as the other sparkling did a little aft scoot towards them, offering toys and hugs, both of which the little femme was quick to accept. Holding the toy in hand, she returned the hug with happy coos. "Pway~." She immediately giggled, pulling from the hug to point to herself. "Nishay." She bounced eagerly, super excited and happy to get to play with two sparklings.
However, she stopped bouncing the moment the large creature wandered over and sat down by the playpen. She'd never seen something like it before, though it seemed to be mechanical just like they were. Nightshade stared in curiosity, giggling at the littlest sparkling's 'nya'. While the azure and light purple femme didn't join in the grabbing of the strange creature, she did giggle while sitting by Sagitta.
Sagitta nuzzled Nightshade instinctively, seeming to wiggle with excitement. She loved spending time with Nightshade, and now there was yet another sparkling to spend time with? This was perfect for her! Her optics seemed to flicker brightly and gave a hint of a bright yellow for a moment.
"Sagi-tah." She shyly smiled. It would have been rude to not introduce herself to the other sparkling with them. Her winglets flitted slightly and she wiggled her tiny pedes. It just felt so nice to be around someone her size instead of being hovered around by her carrier. He panicked too much, was always too scared of bad things. She didn't know what bad things were out there, really. Except her sire that she didn't really know all too well.
At the sight of the large creature, she stared, intensely and focused. She could feel her own carrier starting to get spooked, but she was all-too-willing to observe and then decided what to do.
And what to do was repeat what the mechling and Nightshade said.
They were so innocent, unburdened by the knowledge that they were playing on and around an amazingly lethal killing machine. Luckily for the children, this one happened to adore them right back.
He decided to mimic their cries, though in the end it turned out to resemble a soft growl mixed with a yawn. Despite the fact that he was being viciously attacked by a miniature assailant, Victory Leo kept his calm. The lion tilted it's head back down to the floor, trying to come across as non-threatening as possible. He genuinely enjoyed playing with sparklings, though he could understand some of the cautious looks he was getting.
With another soft growl-yawn, the large cat lazily rolled over to his side. He sluggishly cast a spare paw forth towards the nearest sparkling, as if stretching. The other two seemed content to watch their more adventurous friend do the deed of slaying the mighty beast, which he happened to be content with. Play fighting was healthy, after all.
Solaris giggled as the giant Nya thing moved around, feeling his papa having a massive fit somewhere behind him and the sound of a chair scraping against the ground. Was Papa upset? Why? Maybe he just had to show that he could defeat the giant Nya all by himself and Papa would calm down. Papa was high strung anyway, no matter how much he cuddled him and did all the right sparkling things for him. Maybe it was because Requiem wasn't with them. Yea, that was it. Requiem was sick sparkling and Papa was worried that Solaris would become sick sparkling. But he was strong!
Besides, there were easy ways to conquer Nya monsters.
Like kisses. Everyone knew that Nya monsters couldn't stand up to the force of kisses. So Solaris started smooching the face he was hugged against with all his might. "Nya! Slay the Nya!" And he kissed mercilessly, sensing his carrier slowly settle down as he did so. Hah! He was right! Papa did just need to be shown that he could slay his own Nya monsters.
Nightshade couldn't help but smile and laugh as the little mech crawled over and practically latched himself onto the kitty. He was so big, but he seemed super friendly and wanted to play.
"Nya~!"
She repeated the cry once more with Sagitta, happily sitting and watching for the time being. Swaying a bit where she sat, it was hard for Nightshade to not bounce excitedly. It didn't seem that her Papa was too concerned at the moment, but he also trusted her to do things for herself too. She never actually realized that Dylan had taught him that the best way for her to learn was for her to try things on her own.
As the other sparkling called for them to assist in slaying the 'nya', Nightshade crawled over and attempted to climb on top of the kitty. She had never actually tried climbing before, but she was determined and wanted to do it. Naturally, being her first attempt, she wasn't successful.. but she didn't let that get her down. Instead, she raised her servos, and then started to tickle Victory Leo.
Sagitta giggled wildly. The Nya sound was lovely and she had so much fun!. "Nya! Nya!" She would giggle more heartily when she saw what the other sparkling was doing. The latching and the playing! It was just so funny to watch!
When called upon, she spung into action as well, sensing her carrier's own nervous state. She had to show him she was okay! She had to show him she was okay and that she would be safe! She tried to climb as well, falling down onto her aft. Blue optics blinked widely. What to do, oh what to do?
Oh! Right! Her toy scalpel! It was just a plastic scalpel like one got in a doctor toy kit for a child. She got it out and booped it against his nose. "BOOP!"
It was getting worse, in a good way. There was no way that Victory Leo could escape the situation he brought upon himself now, not gracefully at least. They were good little Autobots, conquering a fearsome beast; he wouldn't have taught them to do anything else if they were his own kin. He was profoundly grateful that nobody here recognized him as who he really was, though. Victory had been overall surprised at himself, however. He'd been showing a proper level of self-control ever since he entered the room. Being sleepy might've attributed some small amount, but the old Autobot chalked this one up to finally coming to terms with his body.
Oh good lord, one of them was attacking with a stick.
In addition to the other one latched onto his head, and the third one trying to tickle him, he quickly realized his situation. There wasn't much he could do in his present state to stop them, that was acceptable at least. No, he had to get them to fall asleep! But how? He was the ultimate play set for these kids. Victory started by dealing with Nightshade, the only one who wasn't trying to attack his face. The big old lion very carefully hooked a paw around her, sort of pulling them into as close to a hug as he could manage. Hopefully, the other two would decide to snuggle and take a nap, too.
