The scenes had replayed within her processor as she not only remembered this scene and the next. She remembered being carried towards the hole and being told that they had to kick her out and reject her. She had fallen through the hole, her body turning as she fell to see the ground.
She must have gone offline because when she came to she was on the ground, seemingly undamaged. But she had been delirious because she mistook an Autobot for her carrier and once more she begged not to be rejected and that she’ll be good, very good. Fortunately, she has calmed enough that sedation worked and so she went into a stasis sleep.
A day soon passed on by, before she began processing again, her optics turned online and she discovered she was in a new place, definitely not outside, but, inside somewhere on a berth. As she pushed herself up, to sit, she discovered other berths much like her own. Some were occupied, others weren’t, and as she moved forward, thinking about hopping down, she also discovered something else, there was something attached to her arm.
Her head tilted as her right servo, lifted up, her fingers moved towards the tube attached to her arm, in hopes of pulling on it or something. Behind her, sounds of footsteps began to be heard, and fortunately for the Energon tube attached to her arm, it distracted her enough to look for the source of the sound.
An little sparkling.. and one Ratchet didn't even know. This was something he definitely hadn't expected for the day.
When he found the little one , the medic wasted absolutely no time getting her to the medical bay. Thankfully she didn't seem injured, but he would have to take great care regardless. If there were any internal injuries, fixing them would prove to be quite dangerous. Sparklings were so small, and their systems so delicate as they were only just getting used to the whole existing thing.
No injuries were found, and so Ratchet prompted himself to run a diagnostics scan. She was in need of Energon.. and there was no way of feeding her while unconscious. He was going to have to run an Energon line right into her. The poor dear..
He didn't stray to far while the sparkling rested, waiting for any sort of clue or sign that the child had awoken. The CMO found himself distracted with his datapad, going through medical texts when he finally heard the sound he was waiting for. Putting the datapad away, he returned to his post to find that the little one had already managed to get out of berth.. but not out of the Energon line.
"Hold it, little one~. You should be resting." Ratchet kept his voice calm, a soft smile on his face in order to try and keep the femme calm. "It's alright. I'm not going to hurt you. My name's Ratchet, and I'm the one who's helping to make you feel better."
There was one thing she knew, the Energon line wasn’t there before. It was long and had an interesting color, but the little Femme decided she didn’t want that thing attached to her. She was in the process almost ripping it out causing possible untold damages to herself when she heard him speak to her. The distraction had helped her to stop the action she had been about to do, and she found herself turning her head to look at the origin of the voice.
The Mech before her was huge, bigger than she was by a lot, but from his voice, she got the feeling that she didn’t need to be afraid of him, that he was good. This of course was confirmed by his promise that he won't hurt her, and that he was the one who was helping her. A smile formed on her lips, as her free servo was allowed to lower itself, and rested at her side. The arm with the Energon line, however, remained in its position.
She soon remembered he called himself Ratchet. “Rat… Rat… Chet” she tried it out before she tried again “Rat chet” she tried before she blinked “what name?’ she asked him specifically, she asked what a name was, not what his name was since he introduced himself. She also couldn’t remember what her creator had chosen to call her before she fell to what her creator thought was her death.
Behind her, her doorwings twitched as her head tilted slightly.
Ratchet knelt down so that he could be on level with the femme, making him appear less intimidating through the size difference alone. There was no point in making her panic, and the medic was going to do everything in his power to eliminate any factor that could negatively affect her.
"That's right. I'm Ratchet."
A few things floated through his processor as the little one had asked about a name. Had she meant what a name was.. or had she meant something a bit more concerning..? If she had been asking what her name was, it was going to sadden Ratchet. The poor thing..
"A name is what you call someone. That way you know who someone is talking to, just as I am talking to you." Ratchet held out a servo, wanting to see if she would put hers into his. "What's your name, little one?"
Although she did feel some intimidation, due to his height, she knew from his words that he wasn’t going to hurt her. She watched him, as he moved so that he wasn’t so tall anymore. With him now being on a level with her, she found she didn’t have to look so high up just to talk to him. She knew there was one more benefit to him being at her height, but before she could think of doing that thing, he spoke, saying she had been correct, and that he was Ratchet.
Volt smiled as he soon explained what a name was. Like a good Sparkling, she listened to him, finding the knowledge of what a name was fascinating. Her head turned to look at the servo as it was held out, and she lifted her own up and going with her earlier opinion of the Medic, she placed her hand into his. His servo, even his fingers were bigger than her’s were.
Volt looked up at him again as he soon asked that question, the one she couldn’t answer. Her head shook, as she leaked from her optics. “No got name,” she confessed.
Ratchet's smile only grew as the little femme reached out to him, putting her servo into his. It was a small sign that she was willing to trust him with her health at the very least. Sparklings were the trusting types, perhaps too much so with how innocent they were. It wasn't something he could fault them for given that sparklings were naturally curious about their surroundings and didn't know about the dangers out there. Luckily for the little one, she could very much trust Ratchet.
However, her words did sadden him. She didn't even have a name.. The CMO frowned a bit, but knew there was nothing he could do to rectify that. Except.. maybe he could name her? "I tell you what, little one. How about we come up with a name for you? It doesn't have to be right this moment, but.. I'll help find your name. Names usually reflect who you are.. or it's something that's special to you."
Ratchet moved his servo away, looking at the Energon line. Given how well off she was, and that she was awake, she didn't need it any longer.
"Hold still. I'm going to remove this line from your arm. It may hurt a little, but I promise I'll try to keep it to a minimum. I'll even give you an Energon goodie afterwards."
Her optics saw the smile growing, and as it did so, she felt an incredible amount of joy, knowing that she did that. Ratchet had been proven to be a good Mech, someone she could count on if she needed help, though the same could be true for everyone else on the Autobot side. The Sparkling moved her servo and turned it so her fingers could be placed over his, and saw how small her hands were. She couldn’t help but giggle before she looked at him.
The topic soon changed, and she noticed the frown, and immediately she felt sad that she caused it before she heard him speak again. From his words, she learned further about names. That they reflect on who she was or something that was special to her. Ratchet also said that it didn’t have to be right this moment, and found herself smiling when he said he’d help her. “Ok, then…” she started “no need now, then. You call me Little one some more until we do, kay?’ she asked him smiling happily.
Little one was perfectly fine with her at the moment.
Ratchet watched as he moved his servo away, and on looking to where he was, she saw the Energon line she was still attached to. She did feel fear at the prospect of pain, but she trusted him when he told her he would try to keep it as little pain as possible. She especially liked the idea of Energon goodies too, since it didn’t sound yucky.
Volt put on a brave face, trying to show him what a brave femme she was.
Ratchet smiled as the little sparkling agreed not to worry about names for the time being. Little one was just fine enough to her, and eventually they would find the perfect name.
"If you want me to call you something else.. just let me know, alright?"
The little femme didn't seem terribly thrilled at the prospect of having the Energon line removed, but she was going to attempt to be good and let Ratchet do what he needed to do. He honestly couldn't have asked for anything more than that from her. The CMO reached for her arm, putting his digits just above where the line met her arm. "I'll give you a small piece of advice. If you don't watch while I do this and try to focus on your thoughts on something else.. it will hurt less." He smiled, giving the little one a moment before plucking the line out gently.
Volt nodded her head when he asked her to let him know if she wanted to call him something else. “Ok!” she said enthusiastically. She was sure with Ratchet’s help she could get a good name. Ratchet was nice. He wouldn’t give her a name that would end up making her embarrassed.
Soon the topic of the Energon line came up and in all honesty, she didn’t need it anymore now that she was up, but she knew when it got taken out it would hurt. She didn’t know how she knew this, she just had a feeling it would, but Ratchet had a great advice for her. So she began turning her head, away from the Energon line, and caught a glimpse of a picture, likely drawn by his Sparkling that she would one day meet, or some other Sparkling, or human child. She was fascinated by it, the colors, and the shapes of the people.
The drawing helped take her thoughts off the Energon line going out, that she barely even felt it. it was only when Ratchet mentioned getting her that Energon goodie that she realized it was out. “Yay! Goodie!” she said happily. If Ratchet wanted to pick her up, she’d let him, but other than that she’d get off the berth and walk.
If she was picked up, she’d likely feel fear and a great amount of it that she had to bury her face into his chassis.
When it came to sparklings, Ratchet knew he needed to be a bit more gentle. It wasn't so much the obvious factor of their fragile systems, but the fact that they were just so young period. These were all things they weren't used to and had never seen before. It likely scared them, especially when it involved pain of any kind, large or small.
Ratchet had been thoroughly impressed that the little one had taken it as well as she had. Had she taken his advice to not watch and to not focus on what was about to happen? If so, he was incredibly proud.
"You did very well, little one. Good job~." Carefully, the medic scooped the small femme into his arms, setting her down on the berth so that she could relax while Ratchet got the Energon goodies out. Once she was seated, Ratchet opened up a cabinet and pulled out a small box. "I can only give you one, but you've earned it for being good." The medic opened up the box, pulling out a single goodie. Once it was out of the box, he handed it over for the little one to consume.
It was done, and as he spoke to her, telling her that she did very well. The little femme felt happy that someone was proud of her. She was lifted, but no sooner had she been lifted, she felt herself back on the berth. Quietly she allowed her body to relax and rest. She was a good girl, and she wanted to prove this, so she stayed put this time. Ratchet wanted her on the berth, so that’s where she will stay.
When he told her he can only give her one, she was a little sad, but she soon felt happy when she heard she earned it. It makes her think of what else she could get if she was good a lot more. She smiled to Ratchet, “thankooo!” she said to him before she confused the Energon goodie. She made the typical sounds of enjoyment until it was all gone. She wanted more, but she remembered he wasn’t allowed to do so, and she was not a bad femme.
Volt yawned as she stretched her little arms. Exhausted was coming to claim the little one, so it was a good thing that she was on a berth now. The little one laid back, and her optics changed to that telltale sign that she was asleep.
[alright, we could end it, if you want to]
