It felt good, having a reason to tidy up the ship for once. He cared what others thought about how he kept his vessel, something about be professional. In any other setting however, Steamhammer would've been done with his task hours ago. The mere fact that most of the equipment aboard the Admonisher was him-sized slowed down efforts considerably, and it didn't help that Steamer wasn't gifted with great speed. Weighing over one thousand tons did have its upsides, though.
Steamhammer tossed his rotating bucket-saw up on top of the last pile of stacked storage containers, lacking an actual rack to put the massive tool up on. It'd be fine sitting up there, provided nobody bumped around it too much. The ship looked nice enough to have company over now, which left the rest of the day to him. He might not ever have a full crew of Constructicons working under him for the rest of his days, but being put on a hand-picked engineering team as the senior member reminded Steamer of the old days.
Passing by the Steamhammer-sized control hub, he switched on the ship's active spacebridge link, letting the Decepticons back on Earth that he was ready for visitors.
A flash of red, white, and black sped through the space-bridge, coming to a halt, the small but charming femme nearly dropped what she was carrying. It had been so long since she had the chance to speak to other Engineers, too long, in fact. Meeting the senior Engineer was something she'd wanted to do ever since she was placed on the team. She held a metal box of data pads and notes, which had nearly fallen out of the container they were in when she sprinted through the space-bridge in excitement. She exhaled, the wheels on the "wings" that were attached to her back fluttered slightly. She offered an enthusiastic, warm smile as she passed Steamhammer, placing the box down on a table she could barely reach.
"So you're Steamhammer? I've heard a lot about you! Sorry for the abrupt entrance but I'm simply so giddy that I've found a group of bots I can talk to."
Lightspeed turned from the table, gazing up at the mech with wide, shimmering golden optics. "I'm Lightspeed, by the way."
It took somewhat longer for Ruminator to arrive. Though he wasn't in a rush as he stepped through the spacebridge with his own few belongings, he still couldn't help his amazement at the sheer scale of the Admonisher. He almost seemed... personable at the moment, actually. Almost.
"Hello again." His gaze was on Steamhammer as he nodded a greeting. He was mostly grateful that he was able to skip one introduction. Then he turned his attention to the unfamiliar femme. He'd managed to catch her name. "Lightspeed, was it? Ruminator. I look forward to working with you both."
Which was partially true, he supposed. Solitude was preferred as far as he was concerned, but he figured if he had to be in ANY group, one comprised of competent engineers was the best case scenario.
"So then. I expect we have something exciting planned? If not, I'm afraid I'm not much of a storyteller." The corner of his mouth twitched up slightly. Was that... a smirk?
They were small for engineers. But then again, he was big for one. There was no baseline for engineers as far as he was concerned, not in his ship. All were welcome, provided they had the appropriate background. Still, it was just so wonderful to finally have company over again. The towering Decepticon reached up to a nearby shelf, and sat down what looked like two oil drums in front of the both of his new team members. "Welcome to the Admonisher, my friends. Please, allow me to offer you a drink." Whatever was in the rather Steamhammer-sized mugs, it was not Energon.
Whether or not his guests decided to imbibe his offering mattered little, as Steamhammer scooped up a third mug of his own, and turned to lead them down the hall. "I'm very fond of storytelling. Come, let us weave our own." As his back was turned to the group, Steamer lowered his faceplate. The Constructicon brought his free hand over the brim of his mug, snapping his fingers to produce a spark. The beverage immediately caught a bright blue fire, burning softly in it's container. Steamhammer downed the entire fiery beverage in one gulp, trailing a small amount of fire on the floor beneath him as the substance dripped down.
He promptly slid his faceplate back up as the team reached their destination, the engineering deck; appropriate for a group of engineers. It was a veritable handyman's candy store. The room was massive, tools set up on dozens of racks, spare parts by the crate-full, blueprints casually scattered about detailing numerous yet to be built devices. In spite of all the engineering fanfare, the grand prize was seated at the back of the room. A Universal Assembler, otherwise known as a nano-fabricator. So long as a bot had sufficient raw materials, and an idea, it could be built here. Steamhammer stepped up to a control panel, and activated the holographic display in the center of the room.
"I've looked over both of your profiles in great depth; you would not be here on this project, otherwise. What we endeavor to build is a weapon suitable for the ongoing conflict on Earth, namely, how we use it's inhabitants to our advantage."
Steamhammer activated the display, blowing up three dimensional image of what appeared to be an oversized siege gun with a rather wide barrel.
"This is the preliminary design of Project Vector... a massive molecular fission cannon. It will not only provide incredible firepower from great range, but it will serve as the final resting place of any Autobot that dares to besiege it."
A second button was pressed, and a holographic model of a mid-sized human settlement sprang up around the cannon. The weapon wasn't so massive that it choked up the screen, but it was still visible among the myriad of structures. As the cannon fired blast after blast, the outskirts of the city slowly crumbled away, all while enshrouded by a massive domed force field.
The small engineer observed as Steamhammer allowed them drinks, the container being a little more than half of her size. She blinked, then, optics widened as he set his drink aflame. What. Why. She peeked over the brim, completely and utterly bewildered and shocked into silence. What in Primus's name was this drink? She stood on the tips of her pedes to take a sip, nearly falling in before fixing herself and shaking her helm rapidly as she recovered and stood beside the cup.
She folded her arms behind her back, smiling up at the substantially more massive con. She nodded to Ruminator, bouncing slightly from one pede to the other. She was restless, that much was sure. "It is most certainly an honor to be here, among fellow and great engineers." She dipped her helm slightly, albeit she was surprised and slightly disappointed when Steamhammer went right to business, she didn't allow her emotion to make its way to her visage.
Lightspeed turned, watching the holographic model of Project Vector materialize before her golden optics. She ambulated toward the model, taking note of the design structure. "And the mode of power? Perhaps you've found a way for this weapon to perform without energon?"
