Personality:
Childish - Immature - Sycophantic - Loyal - Prankster - Unpredictable - Artless - Direct - Experienced - Sadistic
While his Trine brothers, Starscream and Thundercracker, are known for their cunning and intelligence, Skywarp is...less so. He's just as good a flier, and his added ability makes him an added asset, but, his fellows wish he had a bit more brains with which to utilize it. It's not that Skywarp can't think, it's that he prefers not to and, over time, has been more than happy to ride along on the coattails of others. When it comes to his pranks or little sadistic plans, however, he can get quite creative.
Skywarp is also the most immature of the trio. He's far more likely to trip someone down the stairs (a personal favorite pastime) than be of any actual help in any arena except combat. He does, however, know who he can get away with pushing. Thundercracker and Starscream are safe from all but a bit of verbal needling and Megatron and the DJD? Not even Skywarp would dare poke fun at them where he might be heard. He's artless, but not stupid. That said, those of lower rank are subject to pranks and bullying whenever the seeker is within range.
Despite these annoyances and shortcomings, Skywarp is also a good asset. His teleportation abilities, combined with his experience, make him a valuable warrior. He has enough bulk to fight on the frontlines, and he flies well enough to provide air support. He uses his unpredictable nature to his advantage in battle and never questions orders (though he does whine). It's just that, there has to be someone giving the orders. Leaving him to his own devices at any point in time would be disastrous for everyone involved. Fortunately, he quite happily follows his superiors' commands and is loyal to the Decepticon cause.
Strengths:
Air Superiority- Skywarp is a very skilled flier, able to take to the air currents like few others can and even give Starscream a challenge from time to time.
Trine Brother- Skywarp never stands alone. He is a member of a Trine, meaning that he has had two others at his back since they were first sparked as a three-bot team. Starscream and Thundercracker are the only ones he actually trusts, and, true to his personality, that trust is also childish. He is guileless with these two, fully expecting them to have his back and take his side. They are his elder brothers whose lead he follows. And, though, he doesn't get why Starscream keeps making his ridiculous bids for power, he would support him if he ever succeeded.
Unpredictability- Skywarp is perhaps one of the most annoying foes the Autobots have ever faced. He has a tendency to appear out of nowhere, cackling madly, and wreck havoc wherever he can. He has no set attack patterns and his teleportation ability makes him nigh-on-impossible to track.
Weaknesses:
Jet Judo- Skywarp is absolutely terrified of the Autobot Terror Twins. Too many times he has been the victim of their 'jet judo'. Their ability to match him, unpredictability for unpredictability, makes them his worst enemies in the field.
Ground Fighting- While Skywarp is capable of ground fighting, he doesn't do it well. The sky is more his domain.
Short on Attention- If Skywarp doesn't have someone above him calling the shots, he will chase the first 'good idea' that comes to mind. This goes for both on the battlefield and off.
Abilities:
Aerospace Capability- Skywarp is capable of flying both within an atmosphere and without
Flight Combat- His preferred method of combat
Bipedal Flight- Like the others in his Trine, Skywarp is capable of flying without transforming, using the rocket thrusters in his pedes. This makes it difficult to keep him on the ground
Teleportation- As an outlier, Skywarp is the only mech to possess the ability to teleport. This fuels his unpredictability, and his ability to wreck havoc.
Weaponry:
Null Rays- Modeled in the same manner as his Trine brother, Skywarp has a long range weapon designed to nullify armor and strike as a devastating electrical attack to the systems beneath. Only the strongest armor can stand against its effects. These can be used in both bipedal and vehicle mode and are found mounted on either his arms or just under his wings.
Short Range Rockets- In vehicle mode only, Skywarp is capable of firing two short range rockets at a time. He can store eight, including the ones primed to fire immediately.
Stairs- If there is a flight nearby, someone is going down them.
History:
Skywarp was constructed cold with his Trinemates in Vos, designed to be an exploratory unit. He awoke with boundless, innocent curiosity and a childish tendency to overlook the darkness of the world around him. He utterly lacked any of Starscream's ambition and jadedness, as well as any of his later sadism and chaotic disposition. That, however, was short lived when his 'special abilities' were discovered. Much to the ire of his Trinemates, he was taken by the Jhiaxian Academy of Advanced Technology and used as a glorified lab rat in the name of 'testing his limits for personal betterment'. Skywarp grew to despise his keepers, the academy itself, and, by extension, the senate that allowed it to exist. His innocence was crushed, and his childishness turned itself to cruelty.
Fortunately, he was not alone. Thundercracker's ability to create sonic booms had also caught the Academy's attention, and the more level-headed seeker served as his guide and protector in those early days. Skywarp naturally fell into following his Trine brother's lead, looking to him for cues and underlying orders. Their existence in this way continued until, one day, Starscream paid them a visit. There was something rising, he said, a movement that could topple the oppressive senate and give them the freedom they deserved. For Skywarp, this was all too good an opportunity. He fell into the Decepticon ranks without question, gleefully leaving the Academy behind alongside his Trinemates to serve as chaos-bringers. The violence that came after was pleasing to him, as his former oppression had cultivated a desire for a form of vengeance, giving birth to his more sadistic tendencies.
Remorse became something foreign to him as the war went on. He worshiped Megatron as the hero who had provided his Trine with freedom and followed Starscream as an eager 'younger brother'. His loyalties to the Decepticon cause were cemented and the acts he committed for it knew no bounds of morality. His cruelty and sadism bordered on insanity throughout the war, and he seemed to take joy in the travesties in which he took part.
Then, Cybertron was destroyed and his surety in what he knew was shaken. His ties to his Trine were what kept him grounded when they left for Earth. He continued to fight, but, he pined for his homeworld. Starscream's mutinous mutterings began to make sense to him. But, he truly doesn't believe that anyone, except maybe Optimus Prime, could ever successfully take on Megatron. Still, he doesn't like Earth, and wants very much to go home.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
Anyone who had been among the Decepticons for long had learned to beware the sound of Skywarp's laughter. The problem was, with the warping capability that had earned him his name, it was impossible to tell where, exactly, he would pop up next. Vehicons lived in terror of hearing that laughter appear suddenly behind them. Even the DJD's Tarn was leery of the sound, knowing that chaos would follow to disrupt the beautiful order his lord had instilled.
Starscream was used to it. Which was why Skywarp was met with only a soft, prolonged vent when he appeared at his Trine brother's side, sniggering.
"Skywarp, I'm busy," he muttered without prompting, optics never leaving the data on the screen before him.
Skywarp's sniggering turned into a bark of amusement
"Aw, Screamer, I didn't even say anything yet!"
The only indication of the commander's irritation was the tightening in his wingstruts. Damn his wings for always being the emotional tell. Alas, it was a seeker's burden to bear. He knew better than to give Skywarp any further confirmation of success. It would only encourage him. As such, he said, and did, nothing.
Skywarp watched him with a wide smile, red optics glowing maliciously. Oh, Screamer was in one of his stoic moods. This would be fun.
