Player Alias: Chris
Character Name: Dylan Elijah Logan
Allegiance: Human {Autobot Ally}
Appearance Description: Dylan is best described as a short, scrawny fifteen year old boy. At first glance you wouldn't take him as a former juveninle delinquent, given he appears clean cut. He has long blonde hair, and dark brown eyes. Usually, he'll wear very "street" clothes, since he hates anything that appears to be too formal.
Personality: Given weight to his past, Dylan is a bit (very) troubled. He's spent a lot of his life wrestling with his dark past and dealing with the events that lead him to where he is. In a lot of ways he's angry: angry he got the short end of the stick, angry he was stuck in juvie, and angry the world doesn't (in his opinion) give a crap. This still comes out a bit when it comes to his personality, which some can see as stand-offish.
Underneath it all though, Dylan is a good kid. Who, thanks to Ratchet, has started to show that more and more often. Through all of the darkness, Dylan is an extremely talented artist with a bit of a snarky personality. Socially active when he's comfortable around people, it's a little hard to get him to open up - but when you do, he's actually fun to be around. With his personality best being described as that of a youthful troublemaker.
Strengths + Weaknesses:
STRENGTHS
- Artist: Dylan is an extremely talented artist. Though he sometimes uses his gift for the wrong reasons, give him a paintbrush and canvas and he can do wonders.
- Thick Skin: It's hard to get under Dylan's skin more than anything. He's used to verbal insults, so it's nothing he hasn't heard.
- Fighter: Dylan knows how to defend himself. Having spent most of his life post-childhood to teach himself how to protect himself. He only knows some basic self-defense techniques, but he's gradually learning more.
- Compassion: Dylan's biggest strength is his ability to show compassion for others. Despite all he's been through - he knows he's not the only one. And shows an extremely mature level of compassion and empathy because of this.
WEAKNESSES
- Trauma: Of my characters, Dylan has this the worst. Subject to night terrors, flashback episodes, and the like. It's clear Dylan has had a hard life that he's trying to hide as best as he can.
- Stand-Offish: Dylan finds it hard to get close to anyone because of all the times he's been hurt. As such he'll sometimes try hard to avoid getting close if he perceives the possibility of getting hurt.
- Troublemaker: Dylan has a knack for being this. More often than not, he's usually finding some way to get himself into some sort of trouble. Which is probably the reason he almost always is.
- Ratchet: In all honesty, Dylan feels a certain guilt around the mech. He's the reason Dylan ended up a frequenter on-base, and really he still feels bad for tagging him. So oftentimes, Ratchet's able to get him to feel bad about something. Or get him to act his age/appropriately. (Much to his dismay)
Abilities:
Dylan's strongest ability is that as an artist. He may not be the best fighter, or the most intelligent person but as an artist he's going places. He also uses his art to send strong messages about the world around him.
Weaponry:
None, though he knows how to use a knife, and a basic handgun.
History:
Most of Dylan's early years are shrouded in mystery. The most that a lot of people can get out of him is that his mom died shortly after Dylan was born, leaving him with his dad. Beyond that, one can surmise the man was extremely abusive to Dylan and eventually ended up in jail for the next twenty-six years after getting caught. Beyond that, Dylan likes to keep his past just that, the past, because the first five years of his life spent with his dad are too painful for him to try to put into words fully.
Dylan bounced around in foster care for the next five years. Never really lasting very long with any of the families, who noted his guarded personality as a reason. Eventually, Dylan lost hope of finding a family that would care about him. And instead, decided to act out for attention. This eventually lead to an incident in which he "borrowed" his foster father's car and nearly crashed it, leading to his arrest and being put into juvenile detention.
Dylan got out when he was fourteen, and went back to being bounced around. Eventually ending up at a group home, which he hates. After a year of being there, Dylan, in another act of defiance, decided to tag an ambulance nearby - which ended up in him meeting the Autobot CMO: Ratchet. Who was deeply angered by the action.
Unfortunately, he'd also just revealed himself to Dylan. Which forced him to bring him back to base for Optimus' infamous debriefing. Dylan was skeptical at first, but after learning about his past, Ratchet seemed to take some form of pity on him (or so Dylan figured) and let him stick around, at least for the time being.
Though Dylan would never admit it without cause, it was an act that probably saved him from going down a bad path in life. Being around the Autobots has given him a set of adult figures that aren't his foster parents and who he (admittedly) feels he can trust at least a bit more. Even though he's still trying to find where he fits in during all of this chaos, he secretly hopes he will finally figure that out at some point.
Roleplay/Writing Sample: See Shane.
