Yep.. Should've seen this coming.
Verity huffed as she riffled through her bag of totally-not-stolen goods. She finally had Springer back after he vanished from her life, only for the mech to go AWOL a second time after tagging along with him to Jasper. Funny how these things kept happening to the young adult, but at the same time she sort of expected it. People came and people went. People said they wanted you only to ditch you at the first pass, however.. Verity was going to beat them to it this time. If people didn't want her around, she wouldn't stick around.
Sure there were plenty of other Autobots and even some humans around, but how long was it going to be before she was abandoned again? It was odd, really.. being back in a small desert town with Autobots all around. It was like the old times with Hunter and Jimmy again. Honestly she didn't want to see them as it'd be far too painful of a reunion. Sure she could tell them the old war stories of how she joined the Wreckers and stood up to the tallest botox advertisement no one ever wanted to see, but then she'd also have to explain why she ditched the both of them in the first place.
Well, not today. Not never.
The real question was where she planned on going. There was always the shack in Nome, but that was going to bring on too many painful reminders. Maybe not a big city either, but thinking about it how many places had Verity not run off to? Settling on just going for wherever the road took her, Verity picked up her bag and began to make a beeline for the exit.
Unfortunately, she wouldn't be able to make it there unnoticed.

Dylan was still getting into the groove of things.
Coming back had sort of been the opposite of what he was expecting? Ratchet had reemed him out for a while - and Dylan had been sure he was going to send him back to be sent away. But instead he’d let him stay? With him? That had been something Dylan had wanted for a while... But now that it happened he was kind of shocked.
Dylan never really got what he wanted in life. So for something like that to work out? Well, he really wasn’t sure what to make of that. But there was an excited feeling that sort of left him walking on sunshine to put it mildly.
Unfortunately - this meant going back to school. And as usual Dylan was avoiding homework like the plague. He had not missed that whatsoever. “God why is Algebra so annoying?” He murmured.
He’d been so busy going things over in his head that he nearly walked right into some new girl. He hadn’t ever seen her before... Had she shown up in the interim? “Oops! Sorry. I really need to watch where I’m going.” He managed.

Honestly Verity had not paid too much attention to the boy as he came walking in through the door, save for one thing:
When she noticed his blonde hair.
At first Verity internally panicked thinking the boy had been her old friend Jimmy. She wasn't ready to deal with him right now! Thankfully, she rationalized that it wasn't Mr. Pink afterall. Much younger and definitely a bit more on the run down side than her friend. Honestly it was a relief, but by the time she got closer to the door, the guy had almost walked straight into her. It would have been a lie to say she hadn't been tempted to reach into his pocket and swipe his wallet for not paying close enough attention, but since she wasn't paying attention either it would have been awkward when she rolled that imaginary Nat 1.
"Not a problem. Got a bit on my mind too. Well, see ya." The girl kept on her path for several more steps, only to stop and turn back around.
"Wait a minute, I've never seen you around here before. You friends with the Autobots?"

Well that was easy.
Though he could notice her initial confusion. Was she OK? Had she mistaken him for someone or something? He stood there for a moment but as she stared to walk away - just shrugged and started to walk off himself. Of course, she then spoke up.
Oh right, he hadn’t been there in like... Months.
“Oh uh, yeah. I’ve been around for a long time. Just I sorta... Haven’t been around for a while?” God how did he explain this now? “I’m uh... Dylan by the way. You’re probably going to be seeing a lot more of me. I’m partnered with Ratchet and he’s uh...”
Well how to explain that too.
“I guess he’s sort of my guardian at the moment?” He explained. “Just temporarily. Until they can find somewhere safe for me. It’s a long story.”
