Player Alias:
Warlord
Character Name:
Rodimus (Prime-ish)
Allegiance:
Autobots
Appearance Description:
Standing at 9.5 meters (or 30ft), Rodimus is big. He masses noticeably less than his peers Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, having a more rounded and smooth physical build in robot mode. Now heavier and a smidgen slower than he once was, Rodimus has chosen to maintain his bright color scheme and flame pattern in defiance of his bulkier vehicle mode. Speaking of which, on earth Rodimus' vehicle mode is a heavily altered light tractor-trailer truck. Appearing smaller than the oft compared Optimus and Ultra, his cab is lean and laid back with a cow-pusher style front end that greatly adds to his aerodynamics. This theme continues along the rest of his vehicle mode, including his trailer which doubles as a heavy weapon platform.
Personality + Character Traits:
Rodimus has come a long way since his days as Hot Rod. But not in the way that most people would think, or even be able to perceive. He's still brash, hot-headed, and prone to just trying to do something instead of waiting for a good opportunity. What he has developed along the way is a deep caring for his fellow Autobots. Sure, he sometimes wants to throw his hands in the air and quit. Sure, sometimes he's jealous when it isn't his plan or actions that save the day. Sure, he sometimes feels like throwing a temper tantrum... but he gets over it quick enough and can appease his ego by giving out his Rodimus Stars as rewards to those people who stole his glory.
All of that said, Rodimus is a lead from the front, send no one to do something he can do himself, charismatic and upbeat leader. He's brave by all appearances, but the fact is he mostly just can't stand the idea of getting somebody else knocked off line because he delegated. When it comes to group tactics, Rodimus prefers the blitzkrieg approach, often surrounding himself with other high speed units to effect this end (and because he finds their personalities more in line with his own). Rodimus is often impatient with larger allies and those with a more measured sense of urgency, feeling that a half-formed plan executed quickly is more effective than a thorough plan that will just fall apart as soon as one meets the enemy.
Rodimus is extremely approachable, friendly, and outgoing. He has very little interest in being overtly intimidating, except on the odd occasion but he knows how to make that happen when necessary. He will also actively seek out the loners, the depressed, and other down on their luck types to engage in conversation. Even if they don't want him to. Even if he's the only one participating. Because he can.
Weaponry:
In Robot mode, Rodimus has two, multi-barreled blasters mounted to his forearms. They can fire three at a time or in sequence with each arm firing independently of the other. This hard mounted weapon system provides Rodimus with a high degree of speed and accuracy, as well as making him extremely difficult to disarm. It also leaves his hands free for other business or to wield the heavy blaster that he acquired upon reaching the level of a Prime and the heavier form that went with it.
In Vehicle mode, Rodimus still has the use of his forearm blasters but they can only fire in a straight line in which ever direction his vehicle mode is pointed but that still makes them great for clearing a lane or bringing down an enemy unit he's in pursuit of. The cattle-pusher style front end of his vehicle form is also ideal for ramming enemies or pushing aside physical barriers. Finally, his trailer comes with a pop-up, heavy twin canon that can rotate and elevate to acquire targets above it's flat line of sight. It is an extremely powerful weapon though it suffers from a fairly large blind spot in its immediate vicinity and tends to track slowly making it a poor choice for targeting fast, small, or nearby opponents.
History:
Rodimus may not recall coming to Earth, but he recalls lots of other things. The treachery, the rise of the Decepticons, meeting Orion Pax, working with the Autobots, destroying a city, being pulled into the war between Autobots and Decepticons, and the eventual hopelessness of it all as things refused to change. He even remembers starting off with the intention of finding the Knights... and then being on Earth embroiled in another competition with the constantly ambitious but woefully pointless Decepticons. Still, Optimus is there as is Ultra Magnus, so why not sweep this problem up quickly before getting back to it?
Rodimus has fallen in behind Optimus and in a weirdly equal yet unequal role with Ultra Magnus. A situation that, so far, neither of them have seemed to want to address. Directly nor indirectly. Rodimus, for his part, leans toward working with the faster bots and on missions that either require no plan at all or necessitate making it up as he goes along. Scouting, escort, delivery, anything that lets him do instead of plot. This has allowed him to avoid stepping on the servos of Optimus and Ultra Magnus, and from what he can tell that makes everybody happy.
Roleplay/Writing Sample:
"No, I really don't."
Rodimus gave the answer as he prowled through the ship toward the landing bay, followed by one of his fellows. A fellow who was giving him a lecture and a headache over crew morale. Once again things were falling apart. He should have named the ship the Chaos Theory or something along those lines. Everything that could go wrong was lined up to go wrong. If two things going wrong at the same time made both exponentially worse, they would go wrong at the same time. Sometimes it made him miss just being an insurgent on Cybertron.
"Just hold things together until I get back. I need to take a look at the hull damage, and have some silence in the Rodpod. No, I said silence. You can't come along to see for yourself. No go." Rodimus stepped through the doors to the landing bay and smacked the door controls on the way by so they closed between him and the other bot. That was really the best route with that one, be blatant and shut down the next 'but sir' that would inevitably come out of his mouth.
He quickly boarded the Rodpod and set the systems into their start up routine. A few minutes later he was nosing (literally) out of the bay into space to... Earth. Down there was Optimus and the others, and more than a few Decepticons. His friends needed support and the Decepticons needed a solid thrashing. Both things Rodimus was capable of providing. He couldn't recall how he'd found out but it also didn't seem an important thing to worry about what with his destination right in front of him. He couldn't wait to show off the Rodpod, if nothing else.
