Player Alias: Faye Bae
Character Name: Rattrap
Allegiance: Autobot
Appearance Description:
Rattrap isn't the most attractive mech, at least not by Cybertronian standards. For one, he's a Beastformer, which means his makeup tends to lean more towards technorganic than anything else. Considering his rodent alt mode, he's not very tall. In fact, he comes to little more than chest-height on Arcee, landing him at around ten to twelve feet. His form is thin, but quick, which allows for some dangerous getaways. Although his alt mode is silver, Rattrap himself tends to be more of a bronze-gold in root mode, with silver being more of an accent color.
His helm itself is an odd shape, far more angular than most. His optics are red, not the usual color for an Autobot, though they are not its most defining feature. That honor belongs to the two, protruding teeth that stick out from his mouth. Rattrap does his best to keep them hidden or filed down (as he is a bit ashamed of them), sometimes there isn't enough time, and they make an appearance. They're almost adorable.
As stated before, his alt mode is that of a rat, silver in color. It's nothing fantastic or beautiful, but it is part of who he is. He is impeccably clean, as all rats are, and tends to groom himself at least once a day. His tail has a few scars and notches from old war wounds, but otherwise, he keeps his alt mode looking as best he can.
Personality + Character Traits:
Although many would consider Rattrap a coward, he sees himself as anything but. Knowing when to run and knowing how to survive does not make one a coward; in fact, it makes one smart. Unlike a lot of the Autobots, Rattrap isn't a warrior. He doesn't care to fight. Instead, he'd rather get in, get information, set a few bombs, and then get the hell outta Dodge. Some would say that's the rat in him, others would say he really IS a rat, and both are a little true. Rattrap just knows where his strengths are, and what he's good at.
What he lacks in physical strength, though, he makes up for in intelligence. Although he has a brash and crude personality, that is no indication of what is really capable of. A highly skilled spy and hacker, Rattrap was recruited to the Autobot side almost as soon as he had signed up for the Decepticons. He spent thousands of years among the Decepticons, learning their ways and learning how to blend in with them. He knows their ways, and he knows their language and their systems. Above all else, he knows how to get into their systems, which makes Rattrap a very valuable ally when there's information that needs to be stolen, or a ship that needs to be broken into. He is also an expert in demolition, which makes his spying twice as deadly.
That being said, Rattrap isn't all brains, and he certainly isn't suave. As stated before, he is very crude and crass, and isn't afraid to speak his mind. He hides a number of his emotions behind a wall of insults, which can be aimed at both ally and enemy. In fact, it seems as though the only language Rattrap speaks is insults. At times, it's grand, especially when he's trying to fluster the enemies. However, when he's among friends, it can be a bit of a problem. Tack that onto his poor coping habits and the fact he loves organic food, and you've got a mech who, while brilliant, can't really seem to keep a roommate or even a friend.
Weaponry:
Rattrap has very few physical weapons, as he much prefers to do his spying and hacking from a distance. However, there are a few explosives at work, including:
He also has a blaster and a single knife, just in case someone gets too close.
History:
Back on Cybertron, before the Great War, Beastformers were seen as "lesser," as low on the caste as one could get. The only caste that might even be seen as lower were the drones and the slaves, and even then at least they were seen as "normal." They could get normal jobs. But not Beastformers; they were the ones who worked the odd jobs, the jobs no one wanted, in the hopes of garnering any scraps they could get their hands on. And off these poor Beastformers, Rattrap was no exception.
At a young age, Rattrap was seen as quick. He had a knack for speed, and a knack for being able to smell things out. These traits allowed him to get a job in the mines below Cybertron. Despite this, it was not his natural rat-like skills that allowed him to advance, but the knack he had with explosives. Before too long, Rattrap managed to become one of the mine's top demolition experts.
He survived in the mines for a long time, though he did have to do the odd job here or there. Anything to get by, really. It wasn't an easy life, but it certainly wasn't the hardest a Beastformer had laid claim to. Still, when the Decepticons revolted, Rattrap was quick to join them. He knew that he deserved better than the scraps the Council and his bosses tossed his way, and he was going to get it. He was going to get everything he deserved.
Eventually, Rattrap was placed aboard The Acutam, a vessel with a mostly Beastformer crew. Its Commander was the General Dinobot. It didn't take long for Rattrap, as thin and as "cowardly" as he was, to fall for the Decepticon General.
Like most wartime romances, there were a few complications within their relationship. Namely the fact that Rattrap, although a wonderful demolition's expert, also happened to be an Autobot Spy. One of the best, if he didn't mind bragging. He had been spying on the Decepticons since the moment he joined, and had even set the Acutam to blow. Unfortunately, guilt and a soft heart got the best of him, and he let his designation slip to Dinobot.
Dinobot wasn't as soft.
He was arrested and placed within the brig. By the time Rattrap managed to escape, he was not exactly the same mech who went in. All he would say to those who tried to look him over was simply "It wan'nt nothin' I couldn't handle." Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.
Either way, Rattrap managed to escape capture and commandeer an escape pod. Within a few years, he found his way to Earth. Although he has spent a number of decades living on his own, among the forests and mines of this strange organic planet, he thinks it might be time to reveal himself-- especially if the Autobots are as down and out as their systems hint at.
